Papo Gift Boxes and the Rebor X-REX Swarm (Plague Variant)

Everything Dinosaur team members get asked at this time of year to recommend Christmas gifts, one of the best-selling items at the moment is the 2020 Papo gift box which features the Papo Gorgosaurus and the bone-headed dinosaur Stygimoloch.  Gift boxes are popular in November and December, so it seemed sensible to feature this item in our latest newsletter.  Fans of the Rebor X-REX series, the alien/Tyrannosaurus rex hybrid will not be disappointed with the second figure in this line, the fearsome X-REX Swarm (plague variant).

Rebor “Bites the Dust” and New Fossil Skulls

By |2024-03-16T06:34:09+00:00September 26th, 2020|Adobe CS5, Dinosaur Fans, Everything Dinosaur News and Updates, Everything Dinosaur Newsletters, Everything Dinosaur Products, Main Page, Photos of Everything Dinosaur Products, Press Releases|0 Comments

Rebor “Bites the Dust” and Oddities Fossil Studies Skulls

Everything Dinosaur despatched a special newsletter to its subscribers earlier this month announcing the arrival of the two T. rex carcasses in the Rebor “Bites the Dust” model line.  In addition, the newsletter announced that pre-orders were being taken for the exciting Rebor Oddities Fossil Studies Skulls (Wave 1).  All three, beautiful theropod skulls, Yutyrannus huali, Ceratosaurus dentisulcatus and Carnotaurus sastrei were available to pre-order from Everything Dinosaur at very special prices.

The offers don’t just stop there, the newsletter included a special offer on the duo of dead dinosaurs too!

Rebor “Bites the Dust” T. rex Didn’t Always Win!

The Rebor “Bites the Dust” figures are available in two colour schemes.  Firstly, there is a brown dominated model called “plain”, there is a second model “jungle” with more of a greenish hue.  These carefully constructed carcasses are in 1:35 scale and reflect the fact that tyrannosaurs like most predatory dinosaurs had very tough, short lives.

Most dinosaurs did not make it to adulthood and for tyrannosaurs such as T. rex, life at the top of the food chain was particularly hard.  It was a question of kill or be killed, not only did these theropods have to battle horned dinosaurs and hadrosaurs, they also had to contend with attacks from their own kind as well.  The fossil record provides evidence of tyrannosaurs biting other tyrannosaurs, for example, in 2010, a paper was published in PLOS One entitled “Cannibalism in Tyrannosaurus rex”.  The eminent authors, Longrich, Horner, Erickson and Currie identified four T. rex specimens that preserved potential T. rex bites on their bones.

The Two T. rex Bites the Dust Carcass Models (Plain and Jungle)

The Rebor T. rex carcass plain (left) and the Rebor T. rex carcass jungle (right) two beautiful 1:35 scale replicas of a deceased Tyrannosaurus rex. Picture credit: Everything Dinosaur.

The scientists concluded that Tyrannosaurus rex routinely hunting full-grown members of its own species was unlikely, however, it is possible that intraspecific combat led to casualties, with the dead becoming a convenient source of food for the victorious T. rex.  These figures show bite marks from another very large predator, since T. rex is the only enormous terrestrial carnivore known from the latest Upper Cretaceous deposits of North America, it can be inferred that these two Rebor models show the result of an intraspecific combat.

Rebor Oddities Fossil Studies Skulls

The newsletter also provided subscribers with details of the forthcoming Rebor Oddities Fossil Studies skulls, a set of three amazing theropod skulls, namely, C. sastrei, Y. huali and C. dentisulcatus.  These museum quality replicas are available to pre-order from Everything Dinosaur.

New Papo Models Feature in Newsletter

New Papo Models Feature in an Everything Dinosaur Newsletter

New Papo models feature in the Everything Dinosaur early September newsletter including the controversial Papo Giganotosaurus dinosaur model.  The Papo Giganotosaurus is very well made and distinctly Papo, however, its anatomically inaccurate stance and unusual body proportions have led to criticism from some prehistoric animal model collectors.  This substantial dinosaur model has certainly divided opinions.  Some collectors might regard it as a throwback to much earlier dinosaur sculpts but there is no denying the quality of the finish and the excellent detailing, especially those carefully created skin folds and scales.

Papo Chilesaurus and the New Colour Variant Papo Parasaurolophus

Such has been the excitement and controversy over the introduction of the Papo Giganotosaurus dinosaur model, that the other recently introduced Papo models have been somewhat overlooked by dinosaur model fans and collectors.  However, Everything Dinosaur team members were eager to make amends and include the Papo Chilesaurus and the new colour variant of the Papo Parasaurolophus model in the company’s newsletter too.

A Popular Postosuchus and a Rare Bullyland Ichthyosaur

Everything Dinosaur had received a number of enquiries about the popular, recently introduced Schleich Postosuchus figure.  More stock of this replica of a Late Triassic predator had recently arrived and team members were keen to communicate this information to our subscribers.  In addition, there were just a few of the very rare and now out of production Bullyland Ichthyosaurus models still available.

This Ichthyosaurus figure had been officially retired around seven years ago, it was first omitted from the Bullyland brochure back in 2013.  We know how collectors like to acquire rare models, so we included a mention of the Bullyland Ichthyosaurus in our newsletter, helping our customers to avoid paying exorbitant prices for the same figure on auction sites.

Rebor Figures Feature in Everything Dinosaur Newsletter

The new Rebor X-REX Swarm (plague variant), makes headlines in the Everything Dinosaur customer newsletter.  The arrival of this new figure has made headlines in the latest customer newsletter to be sent out by the UK-based company.  This eagerly anticipated figure from Rebor, the second in their science-fiction/dinosaur hybrid series, had been delayed in production due to the COVID-19 pandemic, however, this beautifully-crafted figure is now available.

Broodlord and Stegosaurus Woodland Also Make an Appearance

The newsletter also featured the first of the Rebor science fiction figures X-REX Broodlord.   This popular model came out in late January (2020) and with the introduction of Swarm, we wanted to remind collectors that we had a few of these figures available to purchase.  In addition, as well as receiving a shipment of Swarm models, we were able to obtain a number of the Rebor Stegosaurus Garden figure in the Woodland colour scheme.

The latest newsletter certainly has a strong emphasis on the Rebor range.  There are lots of planned new model introductions from Rebor for quarter 3 and 4 and team members are looking forward to these new figures coming into the company’s warehouse.

A spokesperson from Everything Dinosaur commented:

“We send out newsletters to our subscriber list every once in a while. We give our subscribers priority ordering and they are the first to hear of new arrivals along with other updates and information to help them with their model collecting hobby.”

Wilson, Aaron and A-Qi Make Their Debuts in Everything Dinosaur Newsletter

The first Everything Dinosaur newsletter for July featured some old and new friends.  Our shipment of PNSO prehistoric animal figures had arrived so we were able to feature the new Tyrannosaurus rex colour variant “Wilson” along with the new pair of young dinosaur figures – Aaron and A-Qi.  In addition, the shipment contained several lines that had been out of stock, including the Giganotosaurus, the Amargasaurus and the Eurhinosaurus models.

Two Young Dinosaur Models in the Everything Dinosaur Newsletter

Our newsletter also trumpeted the arrival of two new figures from PNSO.  Aaron the young T. rex and A-Qi the adorable young Sinoceratops.  These two figures are the only new models to be released by PNSO this year, as far as we at Everything Dinosaur are aware.  In our regular conversations with PNSO, we have been informed that although the company has plans to release more new models in the future, it is unlikely that they will be bringing out anything else until after Christmas.  Naturally, should the position at PNSO change, we shall make sure that we inform all our fans and followers.

Rebor “Killer Queen” – Jungle and Sixteen New Dinosaurs from Mojo Fun

One of the top-selling figures over the last year or so has been the Rebor Tyrannosaurus rex replica called “Killer Queen”.  A small number of these excellent T. rex figures have arrived at Everything Dinosaur’s warehouse and our team members have been quick to inform collectors and newsletter fans of their arrival.  This display piece, complete with an articulated jaw measures over 40 centimetres in length, as the song says: “guaranteed to blow your mind”.

Mojo Fun has introduced a total of sixteen new dinosaur models representing dinosaurs from the Jurassic and the Cretaceous.  Our newsletter featured these new releases from Mojo too.

In the popular Mojo Fun range, collectors are rather spoilt for choice when it comes to deciding which models to acquire.  There are lots of new theropods, two Baryonyx figures, a new T. rex plus Spinosaurus, Velociraptors, Allosaurus and one of our personal favourites – a replica of a feathered troodontid dinosaur complete with an articulated jaw.  Herbivorous dinosaurs are well-represented in the new Mojo Fun range as well.  For example, the range includes new models of Stegosaurus, Ankylosaurus and Triceratops plus Mamenchisaurus, Mandschurosaurus, Brontosaurus and a beautiful Brachiosaurus deluxe dinosaur model.

New CollectA Dinosaurs Feature in Everything Dinosaur Newsletter

New CollectA Dinosaurs Feature in Everything Dinosaur Newsletter

The six new for 2020, dinosaur models from our chums at CollectA feature in the latest Everything Dinosaur newsletter.  Top of the bill, or should that be beak, is the stunning 1:6 scale CollectA Deluxe Protoceratops replica.  This is a superb model of a plant-eater, that is amongst the most extensively studied of all the Dinosauria.

The New for 2020 CollectA Deluxe Protoceratops Dinosaur Model (1:6 Scale)

The CollectA Deluxe Protoceratops has an articulated lower jaw.

CollectA Deluxe Microraptor Model

Another Asian dinosaur from the Cretaceous also features, the beautiful Microraptor figure, which like the Protoceratops is also in 1/6th scale.  This figure which measures around eighteen centimetres in length and has a twelve centimetre wingspan, has been sculpted at the request of a Chinese research institute so that they could use the model to help illustrate what Microraptor is believed to have looked like.

Two more CollectA scale models (CollectA Deluxe), feature in the latest Everything Dinosaur newsletter.  There is the 1:40 scale Bajadasaurus a recently described dicraeosaurid from Argentina and the 1:40 scale Fukuisaurus, a model of a dinosaur that roamed the Early Cretaceous of Japan.  As Fukuisaurus was about one/third as long as Bajadasaurus and considerably lighter, the CollectA scale model is a lot smaller, so for our newsletter readers we chose to pair the Fukuisaurus with the new Prehistoric Life Baryonyx dinosaur model.

The CollectA Deluxe Fukuisaurus and the CollectA Baryonyx Model

CollectA Deluxe Fukiusaurus and CollectA Prehistoric Life Baryonyx.

New CollectA Dinosaur Models

Although the Baryonyx is not a scale model it does measure about four centimetres longer than the Fukuisaurus replica (eighteen and a half centimetres compared to the Fukuisaurus model length of around fourteen centimetres), this is because, in reality Baryonyx, just like Bajadasaurus, was a much bigger animal than Fukuisaurus.

Two Related Sauropods Feature in the Everything Dinosaur Newsletter

CollectA Deluxe Bajadasaurus and the rearing Diplodocus.

Although Bajadasaurus with its amazing forward facing neck spikes, looks very different from Diplodocus, these dinosaurs were related.  The Dicraeosauridae family, to which Bajadasaurus has been assigned, is the sister family to the Diplodocidae and as such both dicraeosaurids and diplodocids were members of the superfamily Diplodocoidea.

We have introduced new measures and policies that have enabled the mail order part of our business to keep operating.  In these difficult times, having a hobby to act as a distraction can provide great comfort and help to relieve stress.   Dinosaur model collecting can have a positive impact on mental health and we have been delighted to receive lots of pictures (and videos too), from collectors who have showcased their collections.

Helping to Support Teachers and Those Teaching at Home

Everything Dinosaur has been able to put in place contingency plans helping to keep the company operating through these uncertain times.  Our outreach work, liaising with museums and other academic institutions has had to be temporarily put on hold and our school visits have been postponed, but team members are doing all they can to support teachers, teaching assistants, parents, guardians and all those people home schooling at the moment.

A spokesperson from Everything Dinosaur stated:

“We do appreciate that the education of many children has been disrupted.  We know how challenging this can be, not just for teaching professionals but also for those adults who have children at home who now need to take on a teaching role and to also find ways of keeping their charges entertained.  Hopefully, our free to use teaching materials, lesson plans and activity ideas will prove to be helpful in the current situation.  We have already supplied hundreds of free downloads and our dedicated school website is geared to handle even more requests in the next few weeks.”

A Blog Site and Lots of Free Puzzles and Games

The Everything Dinosaur blog continues to provide a useful source of information regarding science stories and fossil discoveries.  Team members are striving to maintain their routine of posting one new article every day.  In addition, staff have been busy sending out free puzzles, dinosaur themed quizzes, word searches and even specially compiled dinosaur themed crosswords following requests from fans of prehistoric animals.

Everything Dinosaur Newsletter – March Model Madness

It is March model madness, with a new edition to the Everything Dinosaur model range plus the return of some old favourites.  Newsletter subscribers will have received this week our latest missive and it provides details of the new Wild Past Protoceratops, plus Rebor replicas and a “heads up” that the mighty 1:20 scale CollectA Deluxe Elasmotherium is back in stock!

The Everything Dinosaur Newsletter

The brand Wild Past has only recently been launched, but the first of the models in this exciting range is already in stock at Everything Dinosaur, but be warned, the 1:35 scale Protoceratops andrewsi complete with a nest of dinosaur eggs has had a very limited production run, so stock of this particular member of the Protoceratopsidae is likely to sell out fast.

The Return of Rebor Replicas

Good news for fans of Rebor replicas.  Although the extended Chinese New Year led to disruption in international delivery networks, Everything Dinosaur had been able to arrange the shipment of the popular Rebor “Raptor” replica called “Sweeney” and the 1:6 scale Compsognathus model “Sentry”.  Newsletter readers were the first to receive an update letting them know that both these Rebor figures were once again available.

Fascinating Foetus and a Charging 1:20 scale Elasmotherium

In addition, the Rebor Oddities Velociraptor foetus wet specimen with light up base is also available.  This fascinating model of an embryonic dinosaur was first introduced in the late summer of last year.  Standing around 22 centimetres high, the figure makes a striking centrepiece to any prehistoric animal model collection.  Joining the Velociraptor is the CollectA Deluxe 1:20 scale Elasmotherium, this replica too is also now available.
