Everything Dinosaur has commissioned a scale drawing of Stegotetrabelodon in preparation for an exciting new model arrival. The Haolonggood Stegotetrabelodon model is expected in stock next month (October 2026). Moreover, this remarkable prehistoric elephant forms part of the Haolonggood’s expanding “Ancient Witness” range.

The new illustration will feature on an Everything Dinosaur Stegotetrabelodon fact sheet. A copy will be sent out free with sales of the Haolonggood figures.

Illustrating an Extraordinary Prehistoric Elephant

Stegotetrabelodon was a large, primitive elephant that lived during the Late Miocene. Fossils have been found in Africa and the Arabian Peninsula. However, this proboscidean looked rather different from living elephants. Intriguingly, fossils have been reported from Calabria (southern Italy).  This has led to the development of a hypothesis that suggests this part of Italy was part of Africa during the Miocene.

Most notably, Stegotetrabelodon possessed four prominent tusks. A pair projected from the upper jaw, while another pair extended from the shortened lower jaw. Indeed, these lower tusks were exceptionally long. Our scale drawing incorporates a human figure. It provides collectors with an opportunity to appreciate just how big these tusks were.

Everything Dinosaur team members researched this proboscidean before commissioning the new scale drawing. The illustration will help collectors appreciate the animal’s proportions and distinctive anatomy.  Furthermore, Stegotetrabelodon has featured in Everything Dinosaur’s blog previously.  For example, in 2012 we wrote about a remarkable series of trackways discovered in the United Arab Emirates attributed to Stegotetrabelodon.

The Haolonggood Stegotetrabelodon Model

Haolonggood has produced two versions of its Stegotetrabelodon figure. Collectors can choose between grey and brown colour schemes. Both models represent the same prehistoric elephant and form part of the “Ancient Witness” series.

The Haolonggood Stegotetrabelodon Pair

Scientifically described by the Italian palaeontologist Carlo Petrocchi, Stegotetrabelodon is distantly related to modern, extant elephants.  They have the typical domed skulls of modern elephants, and their eyes are located towards the front of the skull, both traits of living elephants. However, they possessed two pairs of long tusks, a pair in the upper jaws and a pair in the shortened lower jaw. These prehistoric elephants had the longest lower jaw tusks of any known proboscidean.

A Primitive Elephant Trackway Hints at Social Structure

Remarkable fossil trackways from the United Arab Emirates provide evidence of the behaviour of primitive elephants. Dating from the Late Miocene, around seven million years ago, the Mleisa 1 tracksite preserves the footprints of at least thirteen proboscideans of different sizes. Researchers concluded that a Stegotetrabelodon species (S. syrticus), one of three proboscideans known in the ancient ecosystem, was the most likely trackmaker. The animals appear to have travelled together as a herd. Intriguingly, another large individual crossed the herd’s route while travelling in a different direction. This animal may have been a solitary male. Therefore, the trackways suggest that Stegotetrabelodon could have exhibited social behaviour broadly comparable to that of living elephants.

Detailed Theropod Dinosaur Models

The Haolonggood design team have a terrific reputation for creating quality dinosaur models. Several theropods have already been added to their model range.  The two, new Tarbosaurus models are welcome additions.  These models will be available from Everything Dinosaur shortly.  Each model is approximately thirty centimetres long (1:35 scale).

Each tyrannosaur figure measures around thirty centimetres in length and stands approximately eleven centimetres tall.

Mike from Everything Dinosaur explained that Tarbosaurus bataar was an apex predator in its palaeoenvironment.  Collectors can display this carnivorous dinosaur alongside the Haolonggood Saurolophus hadrosaur models. Saurolophus and Tarbosaurus were coeval and it is likely that Tarbosaurus hunted Saurolophus.

New Haolonggood Woolly Mammoth Models

Collectors can choose between a rich reddish-brown version and a lighter yellowish-brown edition. Both figures share the same brown base colour, but each has its own distinctive finish. The subtle differences are much more noticeable when the models are viewed in person. These figures will be in stock at Everything Dinosaur soon.

Each 1:35 scale Mammuthus primigenius model measures approximately twenty centimetres in length and stands around ten and a half centimetres tall. The figures have been carefully sculpted to capture the appearance of one of the most iconic Ice Age mammals.  Remains extracted from thawing permafrost have provided palaeontologists with samples of hair.  From these samples, scientists have been able to determine the colour of these prehistoric elephants.  In our view, both colour variants are perfectly acceptable.

Haolonggood Pachyrhinosaurus Figures with New Colouration

The latest Haolonggood Pachyrhinosaurus figures retain the excellent sculpting associated with this Chinese manufacturer. However, these models have been re-introduced with striking new colour schemes. Both the Lv Fang and Guo Sheng models represent Pachyrhinosaurus, a fascinating member of the horned dinosaur family. This Late Cretaceous centrosaurine is famous for its unusual skull ornamentation.

Unlike many of its relatives, Pachyrhinosaurus did not have a large nose horn. Instead, it possessed a thickened boss of bone over the nose. Scientists remain uncertain as to the exact purpose of this feature. It may have been used for visual display, species recognition or interactions between members of the herd. Several Pachyrhinosaurus species have been named.

Two New 1:35 Scale Pachyrhinosaurus Models

Collectors can choose between two beautiful colour variants. The Guo Sheng Pachyrhinosaurus has a bold, distinctive and mainly green colour scheme. In contrast, Lv Fang offers collectors another interpretation of this iconic dinosaur.  The Haolonggood Lv Fang figure has a blue/grey colouration. Each model has been carefully painted to highlight the animal’s anatomy. In addition, these figures capture the power and presence of a large ceratopsian.

Pachyrhinosaurus lived in North America during the Late Cretaceous. Large herds may have roamed these palaeoenvironments, sharing their world with a diverse range of other dinosaurs.

Two Haolonggood Sarcosuchus imperator Models Available

The two Sarcosuchus figures have been introduced in 1:35 scale. They reflect Haolonggood’s continued expansion beyond dinosaurs into other fascinating prehistoric animals. The Tong Meng model combines subtle brown tones with careful detailing to highlight the animal’s powerful body shape. Meanwhile, the Tong Wei figure uses a greener colour palette, providing collectors with an alternative interpretation of this giant predator.

Sarcosuchus imperator remains one of the most famous prehistoric reptiles known to science. Its fossils come from Early Cretaceous deposits of Africa. This huge animal lived during the Early Cretaceous and shared its environment with a variety of dinosaurs.  Dinosaurs such as Spinosaurus, Carcharodontosaurus and Ouranosaurus.

Although often nicknamed “SuperCroc”, Sarcosuchus was not a direct ancestor of modern crocodiles. Instead, it is a distant relative of extant crocodilians.

Sarcosuchus – A Giant from the Early Cretaceous

Fossil evidence suggests that Sarcosuchus imperator was an enormous predator. Large individuals may have exceeded nine metres in length. Its long jaws contained numerous conical teeth ideal for gripping slippery prey. This remarkable reptile probably hunted fish and other animals around rivers and waterways. In addition, larger individuals may have been capable of tackling dinosaurs that ventured too close to the water’s edge.

The distinctive enlarged structure at the end of the snout, known as a bulla, remains one of the most recognisable features of Sarcosuchus. Scientists continue to debate its exact purpose.

Coelodonta antiquitatis was a spectacular member of the Pleistocene megafauna. This large, powerful herbivore roamed across Europe and Asia. However, no fossils have been found in Ireland. It was superbly adapted to the cold environments of the Ice Age. Everything Dinosaur supplies a Coelodonta fact sheet with sales of this figure.

Thick fur, a compact body and relatively small ears helped this animal survive freezing conditions. In addition, its impressive horns were probably used in display, competition and for clearing snow to access food under the snow cover.

Recently, young dinosaur fan and talented artist Caldey sent Everything Dinosaur a wonderful photograph of the Haolonggood Diplodocus dinosaur model (Meng Kang variant) enjoying some bright sunshine in the garden.

Photographing Dinosaur Models

Photographing dinosaur models can be challenging. Furthermore, capturing a realistic image of a large sauropod presents additional difficulties. The Haolonggood Diplodocus is a sizeable figure, and its length can make it difficult to frame correctly.

Collectors often need to think carefully about the background. After all, modern gardens can contain many features that break the illusion of travelling back in time. Therefore, photographers often search for suitable plants and natural settings. Ferns and conifers work particularly well. These plants help to recreate a landscape that resembles the Mesozoic. As a result, the dinosaur model appears more at home in its surroundings.

Creating a Sense of Scale

Another challenge involves conveying the enormous size of Diplodocus. This famous Jurassic dinosaur measured more than twenty metres in length. Consequently, photographers must compose their images carefully if they want to suggest the immense scale of the animal.

Caldey’s photograph succeeds in this respect. The low angle and thoughtful composition help to emphasise the long neck and tail. In addition, the bright sunlight highlights the details and colours of the model.

The result is an engaging image that encourages viewers to imagine this giant dinosaur moving through an ancient landscape.

Everything Dinosaur will be stocking the new for 2026 Haolonggood Paraceratherium model.  This is the second prehistoric mammal figure to be introduced by this company. Recently a Woolly Rhinoceros figure (Coelodonta) was announced.  Intriguingly, the giant Paraceratherium is distantly related to Coelodonta.  Both animals are odd-toed ungulates (Perissodactyla).

The New for 2026 Haolonggood Paraceratherium Model

Haolonggood have a great reputation for making dinosaur models.  The company is expanding its range and introducing some prehistoric mammals.  Paraceratherium is regarded as one of the largest terrestrial mammals that ever lived.  It probably rivalled the biggest elephants in terms of size. The size of Paraceratherium is unknown. The fragmentary nature of the fossils makes estimating the size of this mammal difficult. Palaeontologists estimate that it stood around 4.8 metres high at the shoulder and its weight is estimated at approximately fifteen tonnes.

The new for 2026 Paraceratherium model is 24 cm long and stands 15 cm tall.

The Haolonggood Paraceratherium model measures twenty-four centimetres long and it stands fifteen centimetres high.  It has a declared scale of 1:35.

Haolonggood Ancient Witness

Both the Coelodonta and the Paraceratherium figures are sub-branded “Ancient Witness”.  This could be an attempt by the manufacturer to differentiate their range of prehistoric animal models from their highly successful range of dinosaur figures.  The Haolonggood Paraceratherium model is one of two, new Paraceratheriums due out this year.  Eofauna will be introducing a figure of this Oligocene giant too. However, the Eofauna model has been delayed.
