A Quick Guide to the New CollectA Models (Part 3)

New CollectA Models for 2020 (Part 3)

Yesterday, Everything Dinosaur published details of three more, new for 2020 CollectA prehistoric animal models.  As part of our on-going commitment to help educate and inform our customers about new figures and replicas, we have also produced a short video that provides more details on these three models. The models are a Megalodon shark, Allosaurus and the huge dicynodont Lisowicia bojani.  In this short video, it lasts a fraction under four and half minutes, we show the three new figures and provide some background as to how these new additions have come about.

CollectA Prehistoric Animal Models – The CollectA Megalodon Shark (1:40)

The first model to be discussed is the CollectA Megalodon shark model. It is a replica based on the extinct, marine predator C. megalodon.  Fans of the CollectA range and model collectors have been requesting a Megalodon figure for some time.  Always, willing to listen to knowledgeable collectors, CollectA intend to make the new Megalodon model available by the middle of 2020 or thereabouts.  This shark replica has been introduced instead of a large mammal figure in the CollectA “other prehistoric animals” collection.

The CollectA Deluxe range of prehistoric animal models: CollectA Deluxe Prehistoric Life Models.

CollectA Allosaurus – Popular Size

The second model discussed in Everything Dinosaur’s video review is the new for 2020 Allosaurus model in “The Age of Dinosaurs – Popular” range.  It will replace the original Allosaurus replica that was introduced by this company some ten years ago.

Fans of the CollectA range can therefore conclude that the earlier Allosaurus replica will be retired in 2020.  It may appear in the CollectA catalogue but no further production of this figure can be expected and therefore it will become increasingly difficult to find.  Everything Dinosaur still has stocks of this model.

To view the Allosaurus and the rest of the CollectA Prehistoric Life model range: CollectA Prehistoric Life Models.

CollectA Prehistoric Animal Models – The CollectA Lisowicia bojani

The last model to be featured in our short video is the giant, Late Triassic dicynodont Lisowicia bojani.  It was only named and formally described about twelve months ago, so congratulations to CollectA for being so quick off the mark.  The dicynodonts have largely been ignored by model manufacturers, it is great to see CollectA opting to add such a figure to their range.  CollectA had promised to provide more models of animals from the Palaeozoic, Lisowicia might not fit the bill in that respect, but it is one of the more unusual prehistoric animals from the Norian stage of the Triassic to have been described in recent years.  To read about Lisowicia: Newly Described Giant Dicynodont.

New CollectA Models (Part 1) – Video Guide

Yesterday, Everything Dinosaur published details of the first of the new for 2020 prehistoric animal figures from CollectA.  We have been asked by dinosaur model fans and collectors to publish more information about this exciting quartet of replicas.  As our studio, is now up and running, we thought it would be sensible to create a short video review, showing pictures of the models and providing a little more detail about each replica – sort of like putting some flesh on the bones of the dinosaurs.

The First Four Dinosaur Models from CollectA for 2020

In this short video review (duration 4 minutes 20 seconds), we discuss the four new figures in turn.  Starting with the 1:6 scale Protoceratops dinosaur model, with its articulated lower jaw.  We then move on and introduce the Deluxe Fukuisaurus model.

Fukuisaurus is known from Honshu Island (Japan) and is one of a number of Early Cretaceous vertebrates excavated from the famous Kitadani Dinosaur Quarry, in Fukui Prefecture, after which this ornithopod is named.  Fukuisaurus (pronounced Foo-kwee-sore-us), comes from the same bonebed – “Quarry bonebed I”, as the theropod Fukuiraptor, a model of which was introduced by CollectA in 2019.

Fans of Dinosaurs From Japan will Appreciate Fukuisaurus and Fukuiraptor

Marvellous Microraptor

The third prehistoric animal to be discussed is the dromaeosaurid Microraptor.  This dinosaur model is likely to become a real collector’s piece.  It has such a dynamic pose and the narrator provides a little more detail about this 1:6 scale figure and gives the model’s measurements.

A Baryonchid – Baryonyx walkeri

The fourth model to be discussed is the CollectA Prehistoric Life Baryonyx (B. walkeri) dinosaur model.  This is the only figure in the quartet not to be given a scale by CollectA.  It has been introduced to accompany the 1:40 Deluxe Baryonyx which was released by CollectA this year (2019).  In the short video review by Everything Dinosaur, the similarities between these two CollectA figures are highlighted.

Fantastic Box Art (PNSO Age of Dinosaurs)

At Everything Dinosaur, we spend a lot of time focusing on prehistoric animal models.  It is what you would expect from a company that specialises in the mail order sale of museum quality dinosaur figures and such like.  However, we have been most impressed with the artwork associated with the PNSO Age of Dinosaurs model range.  We have been involved with PNSO for some years now and we have watched how this company has evolved, but the standards set by renowned palaeoartist Zhao Chuang and his colleagues continue to be emphasised by the addition of some splendid examples of box art.

PNSO Models

Take for example, the clean lines associated with the carton that contains the new for 2019 PNSO Dakosaurus model “Paulwin”.  Rather than describe the box we thought it best to create a short twenty second video showcasing how this particular prehistoric animal model is presented.

PNSO Models “Paulwin” the Dakosaurus

Models of prehistoric crocodiles are quite rare.   We know that this replica of “Biter lizard” has been very well received by collectors.  The box that the model comes in is very classy too.

Beautiful Packaging

The clean lines, the carefully printed and positioned text and the large picture of the actual model make the packaging of this PNSO figure really stand out.  Our congratulations to the design team at PNSO for taking such care and consideration.

The Dakosaurus is just one of new additions to the range of PNSO models and figures that Everything Dinosaur stocks.  More figures will be announced in the near future.  Fans of dinosaurs and PNSO models in particular can expect to hear news on this blog site soon.

Eofauna Deinotherium and Eofauna Atlasaurus

There is so much to do these days at Everything Dinosaur, for example, we have received stocks of the new Deinotherium model (Eofauna Scientific Research).  So, in between informing all our customers on our priority reserve lists and getting this model on-line, we have all been very busy.  However, we have received a number of requests to put up pictures of the model and to shoot a short video.  We took photographs and these were posted up onto our various social media platforms yesterday.

Eofauna Deinotherium Video

As promised, we did make a brief video showing  the model…

The New for 2019 Eofauna Scientific Research Deinotherium Replica

The video, taken in our new video and photographic studio shows a brief glimpse of the model.  It allows viewers to appreciate the size, of this, the fourth replica to have been produced by Eofauna Scientific Research in their model range.

To read the article featuring the Eofauna Deinotherium replica with the studio photographs that we took: Eofauna Scientific Research Deinotherium Model is in Stock.

For the moment, we are restricted in the type of videos that we can produce.  We intend to produce much longer model reviews as well as updates about new models being developed and such like in the future.  However, for the time being this short video plus our photographs will have to be enough to whet the appetites of prehistoric animal model collectors.

What About the Eofauna Scientific Research Atlasaurus?

The Eofauna Scientific Research Atlasaurus model is coming into stock at Everything Dinosaur in the next few weeks or so.  This is the second dinosaur figure that Eofauna have created after their beautifully crafted Giganotosaurus model.

PNSO Megalodon Model – More Information

By |2023-12-30T20:40:12+00:00October 4th, 2019|Adobe CS5, Dinosaur Fans, Everything Dinosaur News and Updates, Everything Dinosaur Products, Everything Dinosaur videos, Main Page, Photos of Everything Dinosaur Products|0 Comments

PNSO Megalodon Model – More Information

At Everything Dinosaur, we try our best to respond to all the enquiries, questions and emails that we receive from our customers.  This is no mean feat considering the thousands of customers we have all over the world, but we do try hard to answer all the queries in a timely fashion.  For example, having produced a short video featuring the large Megalodon (Carcharocles megalodon) replica from PNSO, we were asked to show more details of this shark model.  To this end, within 24-hours, we produced another brief video showing the prehistoric shark model in greater detail.

The PNSO Large Megalodon Model – Showcasing “Patton” the Megalodon

Video credit: Everything Dinosaur

PNSO Megalodon “Patton” Large Prehistoric Shark Model

In this short video presentation, we reaffirm the model’s size (it measures around 32 centimetres in length), we estimate the model’s scale at approximately 1:50 based on the length of Carcharocles megalodon at around 16 metres.  In addition, we highlight the “battle scarring” on the model and discuss the figure’s gloss finish.  Large predators tend to pick up a variety of injuries, we suspect Megalodon was no exception.  If it preyed on marine mammals, we expect creatures such as Obobenocetops which was contemporaneous with this prehistoric shark, not to succumb without putting up a fight.  Scars and tears in the fins would be just part of being an apex predator.

A Glossy Model with a Superb Wash

In this short video, we also comment on the finish of this shark replica.  The new version of “Patton” (the large PNSO Megalodon figure), has a glossier finish than its predecessor.  The model’s seams are much less visible and the addition of a gloss provides a pleasing wet-look finish to the figure.  As the video narrator remarked, the wet-look is very appropriate given the fact that this is a model of a marine animal.

The Spectacular PNSO Large Megalodon Model – Patton

The Battle Damaged PNSO Large Megalodon Model

Our friends at PNSO introduced this year a new version of their large prehistoric shark replica (Megalodon).  We have been asked by many fans of prehistoric animals to show more pictures of this exciting figure.  Our team members are happy to oblige and we have produced a short video in which we unbox this large replica and provide a view of the amazing paintwork and detail on this PVC shark.  We also comment on the intricate and subtle scarring that is seen on this PNSO Megalodon replica.

Reviewing a Fearsome Prehistoric Shark (PNSO Megalodon)

Known from calcified vertebrae and most famously, from huge triangular teeth, this prehistoric shark is thought to be the largest hypercarnivorous elasmobranch to have ever existed.  Size estimates vary, but a length of approximately sixteen metres has been proposed.  The PNSO Megalodon figure is also an impressive size, it measures around 32 centimetres in length and when erected on its display base (included in the box), the figure stands some 25 cm high.

Patton or Patton?

In our short video, (it lasts around 1 minute 45 seconds), we highlight some of the beautiful detail on this amazing prehistoric shark model.  PNSO now have two Megalodon models in their range.  Earlier this year, a second, smaller model was introduced, this figure had an articulated lower jaw.  Ironically, both these figures have been given the nickname “Patton” by the manufacturer, this might lead to a little bit of confusion.

We have asked our chums at PNSO for explanation, it seems that since Patton proved to be such a popular name for the larger figure, then the monicker became the name of choice for the second Megalodon replica.  So, PNSO currently offer two Megalodon figures, both entitled Patton.

Rebor GrabNGo Komodo Dragon – Examining the Underside

Everything Dinosaur team members have been busy fielding all the questions we have received about the exciting new GrabNGo product line from Rebor.  The first of these new replicas, a 1:6 scale replica of a Komodo dragon (Varanus komodoensis), is due to arrive in November, but we are expecting to receive some more production samples before then.  In the meantime, staff have been responding to the emails, phone calls and social media messages about this new product line.

Rebor models and figures: Rebor Figures and Models.

Rebor GrabNGo Komodo Dragon

Several customers commented on the beautiful detail on the skin that they could see from our photographs, but asked us to show pictures of the underside of the model as well.  We always try to help our customers out, so without further ado we set about posting up a short YouTube video showing the “belly of the beast.”

The Detailed Underside of the Rebor GrabNGo Komodo Dragon

In this short video (it lasts a fraction under fifty seconds), we show a view of the belly of the lizard replica.  The fine detail associated with the top of the model is mirrored underneath.  The figure is beautifully crafted and at about half a metre in length, it is an impressive size.  We are not sure why many of our customers wanted to see the underside, we suspect that inferior figures may not have the detailing or finish.  Our customers can rest assured, the Rebor GrabNGo underside shows the same care and attention to detail as the rest of the model, although we would point out that our production prototype is missing a cloaca.

The Priority List is Now Open

The model has been priced at just £13.32 plus tax (if due) and postage.  Everything Dinosaur opened a reserve list for this figure a few days ago and the company has already logged a great many reservation requests.  The model is due to be in stock sometime in November (2019).

Rebor Oddities T. rex and Velociraptor Foetus Models

The Rebor Oddities Tyrannosaurus rex and Velociraptor models are now in stock at Everything Dinosaur.  They are fantastic dinosaur display pieces, consisting of a beautifully sculpted theropod (either T. rex or Velociraptor), a special display jar with lid and a light-up base, so that you can highlight the figure inside.  To complete the display, simply carefully add water to the jar (tap water is fine) and then immerse the model into the water and place the lid back on.  Don’t forget to turn the light on, which is incorporated into the base (there is even a battery included).

As part of Everything Dinosaur’s promotional activities, we shot a quick unboxing video in our still to be completed studio.

A spokesperson from Everything Dinosaur commented:

“These are fascinating prehistoric animal figures and it is great to see such innovative models being introduced by Rebor.  We were so impressed that even though our film and photography studio is not finished we wanted to shoot an unboxing video anyway.”

Posing the New Papo Pentaceratops

By |2023-12-27T17:47:43+00:00August 16th, 2019|Adobe CS5, Dinosaur Fans, Everything Dinosaur Products, Everything Dinosaur videos, Main Page, Photos of Everything Dinosaur Products, Product Reviews|0 Comments

Posing the Papo Pentaceratops

The Papo Pentaceratops model has a rearing pose, but the model is so well designed that it can rest in a horizontal position with three legs resting on the floor.  The Papo Pentaceratops is a beautiful figure, but it is also so well balanced that it can be placed in a couple of different poses if model collectors don’t want to feature it rearing up in their model displays.  To illustrate this point, we created a short video demonstrating the Papo Pentaceratops dinosaur figure in a rearing pose and showing how it can be displayed in other poses too.

The Papo Pentaceratops Model

Although the French manufacturer (Papo), has produced several ceratopsian models in the past (Triceratops, baby Triceratops, Styracosaurus and Pachyrhinosaurus), this is the first horned dinosaur to be depicted in a rearing pose.   Much praise has been heaped on the broad shoulders of the Pentaceratops figure, it has proved to be a big hit with collectors and dinosaur model fans.

Attracting 5-star Reviews

The Pentaceratops may only have been out for a short while, but it has already received several 5-star reviews from Everything Dinosaur customers.  For example, Ryan left a review on the Everything Dinosaur website saying:

“Fantastic figure!  A really dynamic pose, plenty of finer details and a great realistic paint job.  This one will really stand out amongst my collection.”

Our thanks for your comments, Ryan, we really like the cryptic quip about the model “standing out”, it certainly does with its upright rearing pose.

Model collector David, also piled praise on the model exclaiming:

“Beautiful model!  Very convincing sculpt, full of life with lovely colouration.  Excellent service from Everything Dinosaur!”

For David, the Papo Pentaceratops and our awarding winning customer service are two things worth praising.  A great big thank you to all those very kind people who have taken the time and trouble to review our models, both on our website also via our Feefo feedback pages.

PNSO Megalodon (2019) Video Review

A Video Review of the PNSO Megalodon Model (Patton)

Our thanks to the talented “Matthew the Dinosaur King” for posting up a video review of the recently introduced PNSO Megalodon model with an articulated lower jaw.  In this short video review, the narrator discusses the taxonomy of this famous prehistoric shark and then examines the model in detail.

The Video Review of the PNSO Megalodon Shark Model

Video credit: Matthew the Dinosaur King

Ancestor of the Great White Shark?

In this very informative video, Matthew comments on the problems involved with classifying this prehistoric fish when palaeontologists have only got the teeth and a few calcified vertebrae to study.  He points out that most scientists consider this shark to be a member of the Odontidae family (pronounced Oh-don-tid-day).  It had been thought that this prehistoric shark was closely related to and the direct ancestor of the Great White shark (Carcharodon carcharias).

PNSO Megalodon

It is likely that Megalodon filled a similar position in the marine ecosystem as the extant Great White, that of an apex predator, hunting and consuming a wide variety of prey including marine mammals.  Any resemblance between Carcharodon carcharias and Megalodon (now, commonly described as Carcharocles megalodon), could be attributed to convergent evolution.  In 2012, Everything Dinosaur produced a short article about a fossil discovery that indicated that Great White sharks could be descended from ancient Mackerel sharks: Getting Our Teeth into the Origins of the Great White Shark.

The Video Review Also Shows the PNSO Megalodon Packaging

The packaging of the PNSO Megalodon model "Patton".
The beautifully designed box of the PNSO Megalodon model “Patton”.  This aspect of the new PNSO “Patton” model is commented upon in detail in the video review.

Visit the Everything Dinosaur website: Everything Dinosaur.

What is in the PNSO Megalodon Box?

The reviewer takes time to examine the packaging of this model.  The box is examined in detail and the clear plastic support base that helps to protect the model in transit is shown.  The plastic base can be used to help display this figure, although it does balance quite well on its pectoral and small pelvic fins.

In the video, the articulated jaw of this figure is highlighted.  Other models of Megalodon have been produced before, for example, the narrator comments on the Wild Safari Prehistoric World Megalodon model (introduced in 2014), but “Patton” as PNSO has named this shark figure, has an articulated lower jaw.

A New for 2019 Shark Figure

This new for 2019 PNSO figure has certainly proved popular with collectors.  This is the second Carcharocles megalodon model to have been produced by PNSO, both figures are available (whilst stocks last from Everything Dinosaur).  Our thanks to model collector Luke who sent into us a photograph of his recently purchased pair of “Pattons”.  Both the figure with the articulated jaw and the larger model with a stand, are called “Patton”.
