New Haolonggood Mamenchisaurus Models Browse Cycads

By |2024-08-25T19:34:20+01:00August 31st, 2024|Categories: Haolonggood Prehistoric Animal Models|0 Comments

Our thanks to prehistoric animal figure collector Carl who sent into Everything Dinosaur some photos of his new Haolonggood Mamenchisaurus models.  Recently, Haolonggood added three colour variants of the iconic Chinese sauropod Mamenchisaurus to their range.  The brown-coloured figure is referred to as Zhu Wu. Furthermore, the green-coloured model is known as Chai Jin. In addition, there is the Haolonggood Mamenchisaurus model (heterochromatic edition). All three models are popular with dinosaur fans and collectors.

Haolonggood Mamenchisaurus Models

Each 1:35 scale figure measures around sixty-six centimetres in length. The head height is approximately twenty-eight centimetres. These are amazing replicas of a taxon that was formally described seventy years ago (Young, 1954).  Carl has used some CollectA prehistoric plant models in his sauropod model display.  The three giant herbivores are browsing on cycads.  These dinosaurs had huge appetites and spent much of their time eating.  We suspect that the Williamsonia and smaller cycads will also be on the menu.

Mike from Everything Dinosaur thanked Carl for emailing the images.  He praised the creative use of the CollectA prehistoric plants to create a scene depicting sauropods feeding.

He added:

“I like the composition!  These sauropods probably moved around in herds, and they would have spent a lot of time feeding. Their long necks enabled them to reach food sources that other herbivores could not.  Food sources such as the top of cycad trees for example.  We also enjoy seeing how creative our customers can be with dinosaur models and replicas of prehistoric plants.  It is wonderful to see all the dioramas and scenes that they create.”

Everything Dinosaur will be stocking the new for late 2024, Rebor Carnotaurus rex dinosaur model.  The dinosaur model Carnotaurus rex “Crimson King Requiem” premium edition is in 1:35 scale.  Essentially, it is a replacement for the popular “Carnotaurus Requiem” figure which was introduced a few years ago.  Rebor’s first Carnotaurus figure, the “Crimson King” was launched in 2017.  This is the third Carnotaurus replica to be added to the Rebor range. Team members expect this figure to be available in the late autumn.

New Rebor Zombie T. rex Figures Reviewed

By |2024-08-24T10:55:48+01:00August 26th, 2024|Categories: Rebor Models and Figures|0 Comments

Our thanks to dinosaur model collector Carl, who sent into Everything Dinosaur a review.  The review featured the new for 2024 Rebor Zombie T. rex cannibal corpse figures.  The reviewer had purchased both the “Plain” and the “Jungle” colour variant.  Carl asked us to check that these figures balanced without the use of the support stand.  We duly checked the models and made sure they were stable.

Carl was delighted with the Rebor models and sent us a review of the two zombie figures.

The Rebor Zombie Tyrannosaurus rex Cannibal Corpse Customer Review

Here is Carl’s Rebor Zombie T. rex model review (both colour variants).

The wait is over, the infected have arrived!

First of all, a huge thank you to the awesome award-winning team at Everything Dinosaur for supplying these two magnificent 1/35 scale replicas of the infamous Tyrant King, the Tyrannosaurus rex. Also, thank you to Rebor Studios.  A company to be congratulated in creating these two beautiful figurines.  Rebor deserves credit where credit is due.

The first thing about these figures is the size, a good-sized figure which has a gruesome but beautiful display presence. In essence both figures share the same sculpt but this model comes in two different colour variants.  There is the “Plain” colour variant which represents the female T. rex from the “Jurassic Park/World” movie franchise.  The second figure in the green camouflage colours is known as the “Jungle” variant. Again, it is from the “Jurassic Park/World” film franchise.

Both tyrannosaurs are supplied in a deluxe pack, having two severed arms, one from an Indominus and the other from an unfortunate Spinosaurus. The sculpt detail on these two beautiful dinosaurs is absolutely incredible.  You literally have to hold them in your hands to fully appreciate the effort involved in the creative process from Rebor Studio.

Praising the Rebor Zombie T. rex Figures

You are looking at loss of sight, peeling skin from the infection and horrible, open wounds.  In addition, muscle and sinew shows damage.  The tibia is exposed along with an open area of damage around the left flank exposing the rib cage.  However, no gastralia or possible floating ribs are showing.  This could be because of the massive trauma to the animal’s abdomen.

This figure has been skilfully designed and carefully thought out.  The sculpture displays a huge amount of detail.  For example, the hanging intestines are a highlight on both tyrannosaur figures.

The Rebor Zombie T. rex in the "Plain" colour variation,

The Rebor Zombie T. rex figure in the “Plain” colouration. The detail on these figures is remarkable. Picture credit: Everything Dinosaur.

The painting application has been carried out to a high standard.  It gives the appearance of a Tyrannosaurus rex which has lost its battle with an unknown, deadly disease.  This disease ultimately killed them both and they were reanimated as a zombie cannibal corpse.

Grab these two beautiful figurines at the fantastic Everything Dinosaur, a company dedicated to all dinosaur related models, the latest information on palaeontology and much more.

Grab them whilst they are in stock.  You will not be disappointed.

Our thanks to Carl for his review of the two, new for 2024 Rebor zombie T. rex models.

New PNSO Camarasaurus Model Coming into Stock

By |2024-08-25T16:11:05+01:00August 25th, 2024|Categories: PNSO Age of Dinosaurs Models|0 Comments

PNSO have announced that their next dinosaur model will be a replica of Camarasaurus.  The new PNSO Camarasaurus model will be coming into stock at Everything Dinosaur in the autumn.  Team members had known about this figure and the shipment of the figure has been organised.  It will be on the same shipment as the recently announced PNSO Baryonyx model. The new sauropod has been named Njor the Camarasaurus.

PNSO Camarasaurus model.

The new for late 2024 PNSO Camarasaurus figure (Njor). This is the latest sauropod figure to be introduced by PNSO.

PNSO Camarasaurus Model

The PNSO Camarasaurus model demonstrates some remarkable detail.  Fossils ascribed to the Camarasaurus taxon are the most common sauropod fossils found in the Morrison Formation.
Four species are currently recognised. The genus was erected in 1877 (Cope). It is a member of the Macronaria clade. They are differentiated from the diplodocids in several ways. For example, the forelimbs are enlarged in relation to their hindlimbs. The chest and shoulders were held higher than other sauropods. This reached an extreme with macronarians such as Giraffatitan and Brachiosaurus.

The limb proportions in Camarasaurus are not as acute, Camarasaurus is regarded as a basal member of the Macronaria.

To view the range of PNSO models and figures in stock at Everything Dinosaur: PNSO Dinosaur Models.

The “Big Noses”

The Macronaria means “big noses”.  The bony frames of the nostrils were much larger than the orbits (eye sockets).  It is not known why these dinosaurs had this feature.  The fleshy openings of the nostrils would have been much smaller.  However, in the PNSO Camarasaurus model the nasal area has been raised and made prominent.

The PNSO Njor the Camarasaruus model in close-up view.

The PNSO Camarasaurus figure has an innovative interpretation of the nostrils of a macronarian sauropod.

Whatever, the reason for the large nasal openings in the skull, the macronarians were extremely successful.  Whilst their cousins, the diplodocids declined after the Early Cretaceous and became rare, the “big noses” continued to thrive.  The majority of the Cretaceous sauropods including the titanosaurs represent the macronarian lineage.

The new for 2024 Camarasaurus model measures thirty-five centimetres long.  The head height is a fraction under twenty-four centimetres.

Mike from Everything Dinosaur commented:

“We are looking forward to the arrival of Njor the Camarasaurus.  PNSO have already introduced several sauropod figures including the diplodocoid Amargasaurus and the macronarian Alamosaurus.”

The PNSO Njor the Camarasaurus model is due in stock at Everything Dinosaur in the autumn (2024).

CollectA Diprotodon Figure Demonstrates Amazing Detail

By |2024-08-22T10:34:32+01:00August 20th, 2024|Categories: CollectA Deluxe Prehistoric Animal Models|0 Comments

Recently, Everything Dinosaur reviewed the new CollectA Diprotodon figure.  This 1/20th scale replica is a new addition to the CollectA Deluxe range.

It is a model of male Diprotodon, and it has been praised by model collectors.  The old Thylacoleo scar on the rump has received plenty of attention.  The torn ear and bite mark on the cheek that suggest intraspecific combat have been commented upon.  However, this new for 2024 replica of the largest marsupial known to science incorporates lots of other amazing details.  For example, the inside of the nostrils is glossy and moist.  The incisors in the jaws accurately reflect the fossil evidence.  The design team have even given the impression of whiskers on the nose, throat and chin.

Taking a Closer Look at Diprotodon

Details on the head of the CollectA Deluxe Diprotodon figure.

Details on the head of the CollectA Deluxe Diprotodon figure. The white arrows highlight the incisors at the front of the jaw. The lower jaw has the two scalpriform (chisel-shaped) incisors, whilst the upper jaw has six incisors in total. The black arrow highlights the wet interior of the nostril and the sensitive pits (red arrow), probably housing whiskers, are found on the side of the snout. Picture credit: Everything Dinosaur.

These are all nice touches and reflect how much care and attention to detail goes into the making of CollectA figures.

To view the CollectA Deluxe range in stock at Everything Dinosaur: CollectA Deluxe Prehistoric Animals.

The image (above) shows a close-up view of the head of the CollectA Deluxe Diprotodon.

The head is shown in lateral view.  Arrows highlight various details on the figure.  For example, the red arrow points to a series of pits along the side of the snout. These pits could indicate the presence of sensitive whiskers. The wet and glossy nostril is indicated by the black arrow.  In addition, the two white arrows indicate the position of the incisors in the anterior part of the jaw.  Furthermore, in this lateral view the torn ear on the figure can be clearly seen. This injury probably resulted from a fight with another male Diprotodon.  Scientists think these animals indulged in intraspecific combat.  Perhaps, fighting over territory, social status or mates.

The CollectA Diprotodon Figure

The CollectA Deluxe Diprotodon figure is the only prehistoric mammal model to be added to the CollectA portfolio this year.  The dentition of this figure has been praised previously.  For instance, the lower jaw incisors are chisel-shaped (scalpriform).  This strongly reflects what is seen in the fossil record.

The taxonomic relationship between the Diprotodon genus and extant wombats and their close relatives remains unclear.  However, CollectA have skilfully combined a knowledge of living members of the Diprotodontia with body and trace fossils.

Circular Pits on the Lower Jaw

Wombats have long, sensitive whiskers either side of their nostrils. In addition, there are four other areas of the face and neck that have whiskers. There are whiskers on the cheeks and a patch under the chin. Furthermore, there are whiskers on the throat. The CollectA Deluxe Diprotodon highlights the sensitive pits associated with these areas.

When collectors examine the CollectA Diprotodon figure closely, they can observe lots of amazing detail.

New Rebor Tyrannosaurus rex Models Announced

By |2024-08-17T06:30:08+01:00August 16th, 2024|Categories: Rebor Models and Figures|0 Comments

Rebor have announced that they will be introducing two, new Tyrannosaurus rex figures in the autumn of 2024.  The Rebor Tyrannosaurus rex Cream figures (Mountain and Skull Walker) will be in stock at Everything Dinosaur in a few weeks.

The Rebor Tyrannosaurus rex Cream (Mountain version).

The new for autumn 2024 Rebor Tyrannosaurus rex Cream in the Mountain colouration.

Both figures have been beautifully sculpted. The represent robust variants on a T. rex theme.  Each model measures around forty-two centimetres in length.  The head height is estimated to be around fifteen centimetres.

These new tyrannosaur figures will have articulated lower jaws.  We expect the tails will be flexible and require insertion into the base of the model to complete assembly. The forelimbs will probably be articulated too.

The Rebor Tyrannosaurus rex Cream Pair

The Rebor Tyrannosaurus rex Cream pair, Skull Walker and Mountain will be arriving on the same shipment. Everything Dinosaur customers will be able to select their preferred model, or perhaps pick up both.   A spokesperson from Everything Dinosaur praised these figures and pointed out the innovative “arrow-shaped” end of the tail.  The spokesperson stated that the skin texture on these figures looked fantastic.

Commenting further on their appearance, the spokesperson added:

“Skull Walker and Mountain are excellent figures.  I am most impressed with the amazing texture and fine details of the scales.  For me, these two figures remind me of the Vastatosaurus rex from the 2005 film ‘King Kong’.  Their grey, pebbly appearance, blunt heads and large, irregular teeth remind me of the tyrannosaurine from Skull Island.”

A Beautiful Dinosaur Diorama

By |2024-08-16T12:55:40+01:00August 14th, 2024|Categories: Dinosaur and Prehistoric Animal Models|0 Comments

Our thanks to model collector and dinosaur fan Carl, who sent into Everything Dinosaur some pictures of his latest diorama.  Carl was inspired by the 2001 film “Jurassic Park III”.  This was the third film in the award-winning “Jurassic Park” series and the first of the franchise not to be directed by Steven Spielberg. Whilst it reprised many of the characters from the earlier movies, a Spinosaurus replaced Tyrannosaurus rex the apex predator.  Carl’s diorama recreates a famous scene from the film.  The Spinosaurus fights T. rex!  The Nanmu Studio T. rex meets its demise after an assault from a W-Dragon Spinosaurus.

The W-Dragon Spinosaurus Battles the Nanmu Studio T. rex

The picture (above) shows the carefully composed prehistoric animal diorama.  This is Carl’s interpretation of the classic scene from the film Jurassic Park III when a Spinosaurus battles a T. rex. The diorama was created using the W-Dragon Spinosaurus and the Nanmu Studio Once and Future King T. rex.  As dinosaur fans will know, the Tyrannosaurus rex meets its demise.

The W-Dragon Spinosaurus stands in triumph over the corpse of the Tyrannosaurus rex.  The Nanmu Studio T. rex figure has been replaced by the Rebor Tyrannosaurus rex carcase in the “jungle” colour scheme.

Mike from Everything Dinosaur commented:

“Jurassic Park has inspired lots of dinosaur dioramas.  The Spinosaurus and T. rex is one of the most iconic scenes from the franchise.  We congratulate Carl for skilfully blending figures from several ranges to recreate this dramatic scene.”

CollectA Plants and the Rebor Display Base “Winter Tears”

In addition, to the two protagonists, Carl has used numerous other props in his prehistoric animal diorama.  Some CollectA prehistoric plants have been used.  For example, the large CollectA cycad trees add depth and help to frame the scene. Whilst the smaller Monathesia and cycads model accompanied by the Williamsonia figures in the foreground help to draw the viewer’s attention to the dinosaurs.

Recreating some of the incredible scenes from the “Jurassic Park” franchise using detailed prehistoric animal dioramas creates a sense of wonder and excitement. Dioramas such as Carl’s capture some of the thrilling magic that amazed cinema audiences.

New Rebor Zombie T. rex Models in Stock

By |2024-08-11T07:42:53+01:00August 11th, 2024|Categories: Rebor Models and Figures|0 Comments

The new Rebor Zombie T. rex models are now in stock at Everything Dinosaur.  Two fantasy dinosaur figures with different colour schemes.  They also have different severed arm accessories.  However, both models share the same Rebor build quality.  Marrying the fascination of prehistoric dinosaurs with the modern horror of zombies is a truly inspired concept.  We congratulate the design team at Rebor for their innovative creations.

The Rebor Zombie T. rex Models (Plain and Jungle)

Two Rebor zombie T. rex colour variants are available.  There is the brown version, known as “Plain” and the green version “Jungle”.  Both models measure around forty-one centimetres in length when assembled.  Collectors have to insert the tail into the rear of the model.  Fortunately, in the figures we looked at, this was easy to accomplish.  The head height is approximately eleven centimetres.  Each figure has a declared scale of 1:35.

Rebor Zombie T. rex figures (Jungle and Plain).

What an amazing pair of zombie dinosaurs! The Rebor Zombie T. rex Cannibal Corpse Jungle (left) and the Plain colour variant (right). Picture credit: Everything Dinosaur.

The models are supplied with a transparent support stand.  Purchasers will also receive an Everything Dinosaur Tyrannosaurus rex fact sheet.  In addition, each figure has a severed arm accessory.  The arms are different.  We think the “Jungle” version is supplied with a Spinosaurus severed limb.  In contrast, the “Plain” version of Zombie T. rex has the severed arm of an Indominus.  Of course, we could be wrong about the Indominus, but we like to think that Rebor have done this to acknowledge the influence of the “Jurassic Park/Jurassic World” influence on dinosaur designs.

Combining Dinosaurs and Zombies

Mike from Everything Dinosaur praised the team at Rebor for their creativity.

He commented:

“Marrying our fascination with dinosaurs with the horror concept of the living dead is an extremely clever idea.  Rebor has demonstrated that they are an innovative company.  The detail on these figures is most impressive.  If you like gore and fantasy figures, then these models are a must have.”

Both “Jungle” and “Plain” have articulated lower jaws and articulated arms.  The tail is flexible too. Rebor has declared a scale of 1:35 for these two tyrannosaurs.  The idea of these ancient apex predators being reanimated as mindless, ravenous undead creatures is both chilling and captivating.

Mike from Everything Dinosaur added:

“What makes these two T. rex figures compelling is the contrast between the power of these theropods and the otherworldly horror of zombies.  Rebor have once again demonstrated how creative and imaginative they are.”

These are two most impressive dinosaur figures.  Furthermore, these models are a fusion of awe-inspiring natural history and our darkest supernatural nightmares.
