One of our many highlights at this year’s DinoCon was once again meeting talented young dinosaur artist Zain. We were delighted to see him again and to catch up with his family. It was wonderful to see so many friends and passionate fans of dinosaurs and prehistoric animals. Moreover, we were presented with two dinosaur illustrations which Zain had painstakingly created.
It is always rewarding to see young artists develop their skills, and Zain’s latest work demonstrates his competence as a palaeoartist. His enthusiasm for prehistoric animals shines through in every drawing. What a talented illustrator he is!

Young Dinosaur Artist Illustrates Tyrannosaurs
The first illustration features two tyrannosaurs. It immediately caught our attention because of its outstanding use of perspective. The composition creates a remarkable sense of depth, giving the artwork an almost three-dimensional appearance. This clever use of scale and positioning draws the viewer into the scene and makes the dinosaurs appear full of movement and life. Sue and I have had the opportunity to meet and talk with artists and illustrators of all ages. Their work inspires and perhaps, we could suggest that at next year’s DinoCon a special section of the art exhibition could be dedicated to young illustrators.

Encouraging the Next Generation of Palaeoartists
Events such as DinoCon provide wonderful opportunities for young people to meet artists, scientific illustrators, palaeontologists, authors and model makers who share a passion for prehistoric life. The popular palaeoart workshops encourage aspiring artists to develop their talents and pursue their creative ambitions.
Supporting young people with an interest in palaeoart is something that Everything Dinosaur values highly. Scientific illustration and palaeoart play an important role in helping people visualise extinct animals and communicate new discoveries to the public. For example, ever since we started our business we have supplied illustrated fact sheets with sales of prehistoric animal models. We have employed artists to help us create the drawings we use in these fact sheets. Our collaboration with world-renowned palaeoartist Bob Nicholls further demonstrates our commitment to palaeoart and the amazing people who illustrate ancient life.
Zain also presented a colourful illustration inspired by the famous Velociraptor from the “Jurassic Park” film franchise. The detailed artwork captures the dynamic appearance of this iconic movie dinosaur while demonstrating Zain’s confidence in working with colour and texture.

Championing Palaeoartists
The rapid growth of artificial intelligence has transformed many creative industries. AI-generated images are becoming increasingly common. However, Everything Dinosaur firmly believes there will always be tremendous value in original artwork created through imagination, observation and dedication.
Traditional palaeoartists combine scientific understanding with artistic ability to produce illustrations that educate, inspire and bring prehistoric worlds to life. Their work remains an essential part of palaeontology, museum exhibitions, books and educational resources. After all, no one has ever seen a living non-avian dinosaur, and it is the work of the palaeoartist that often inspires, intrigues and fires the imagination.
Just like those members of the Dinosauria still with us (the birds), technology will continue to evolve, and AI undoubtedly will become increasingly prevalent. However, at Everything Dinosaur we believe that creativity begins with people. Every sketch, every brushstroke and every illustration reflects an individual’s imagination, dedication and passion for their subject. That human connection is something we should continue to value and encourage, especially in talented young artists like Zain.
Everything Dinosaur has always been proud to work alongside palaeoartists. For example, we were delighted to be able to show visitors to our stand at DinoCon the first draft colour illustrations of our Everything Dinosaur Evolution Triceratops. What an incredible design created by Bob Nicholls. Sue and I received lots of feedback and comments. Such scientifically informed illustrations help shape our Everything Dinosaur Evolution brand. Meeting enthusiastic young artists such as Zain reminds us that the future of palaeoart is in very capable hands.

Receiving Zain’s wonderful illustrations was a real honour for us. His enthusiasm, hard work and obvious artistic ability were clear to see. We would like to thank Zain for sharing his beautiful artwork and we wish him every success as he continues to develop his remarkable talents.
