ITOY Studio Resurrection Dilophosaurus

The ITOY Studio Resurrection Dilophosaurus dinosaur model has certainly caused a stir with prehistoric animal fans and dinosaur model collectors since its arrival at Everything Dinosaur.  This beautiful replica, depicting what is now believed to have been one of the largest terrestrial carnivores on the planet during the Early Jurassic.  It ticks all the boxes when it comes to dinosaur replicas, with its innovative colouration, stability and stunning detail.

ITOY Studio Resurrection Dilophosaurus and Revising Dilophosaurus

A recent revision of Dilophosaurus fossil material (D. wetherilli) revealed that the lower jaw (dentary), was more robust than previously realised and it has been suggested that this dinosaur was a much more formidable predator, a terror of the contemporary Sarahsaurus, a member of the Sauropodomorpha.  The large crests on the ITOY figure reflect the latest thinking in terms of the crest size and the design team have given their figure crimson head crests, possibly a nod towards the idea that these crests were primarily used for display.  The inside of the mouth is particularly well painted.  The Dilophosaurus has an articulated jaw, so the figure can be posed with mouth closed, mouth open or indeed somewhere in between.

Model Measurements

The Model measures a fraction over twenty centimetres in length.  The head is some seven and a half centimetres off the ground.  Naturally, when placed on its display base the figure appears a little taller.  Team members at Everything Dinosaur have enjoyed taking photographs and videos of this replica.  There are plans to make a more detailed video in the future showcasing this model and revealing just how securely this dinosaur stands on its base.

A Trio of Rebor Oddities G-2016 Embryos

Time to start the New Year (2021) with a bang!  At midnight on the 31st December, Everything Dinosaur made the three new Rebor Oddities (Rebor Oddities Specimens: G-2016 Embryos), available for pre-order.  These innovative, science-fiction/fantasy pieces have already attracted a lot of interest from model collectors and dinosaur fans.  In a co-ordinated post with Rebor, customers of Everything Dinosaur are able to guarantee themselves one of these figures.

The Rebor Oddities Specimen: G-2016 Embryo in Resinite.  The embryo of the fantasy creature with the code name G-2016 is entombed in resinite.  The hand-written note inscribed on the piece reads “Rebor Oddities confidential collection.”

Rebor Oddities Specimens

The Rebor Oddities sub-brand has introduced to collectors a wide variety of innovative items.  The first to be introduced was the “Fossil Studies” Tylosaurus proriger skeleton incorporated within its own light-up display base.  This figure was swiftly followed by the beautiful “Chickenosaurus” embryo model.  Recently a trio of museum quality dinosaur fossil skulls have been introduced and followers of Everything Dinosaur on social media will know that later on this year the Compsognathus longipes preserved dissection specimens will be coming into stock.

The Rebor Oddities Specimen: G-2016 Embryo in Bakelite

The Rebor Oddities Specimen: G-2016 Embryo in Bakelite.  A limited number of these fascinating figures have been made and collectors are urged to place pre-orders quickly in order to avoid disappointment.

Limited Numbers Available

In a statement put out by Rebor on social media, they have explained that pre-ordering will only be available for a few days.  Rebor went onto add that all three variants (Bakelite, Epoxide and Resinite), are extremely limited due to the high manufacturing defect rates, so a restricted number have been produced.  It is not known at this stage whether or not there will be another production run in the future.

The Stunning Rebor Oddities Specimen: G-2016 Embryo in Epoxide

Model Measurements (Rebor Oddities G-2016 Embryos)

Each carefully crafted figure measures approximately 18.5 cm long.  They stand a fraction over 10.5 cm tall and the block which holds the embryo model is 3 cm deep.  Each of these clever replicas helps to showcase the innovative approach taken by Rebor.  They will provide a talking point and a highlight within a collection.

Everything Dinosaur estimates that each model will be available to send out to customers in late March.

The New ITOY Studio Paraceratherium Product Testing

By |2024-06-10T10:48:15+01:00December 31st, 2020|Categories: Dinosaur Fans, Everything Dinosaur News and Updates, Everything Dinosaur Products, Everything Dinosaur videos, Main Page, Photos of Everything Dinosaur Products, Product Reviews|0 Comments

ITOY Studio Paraceratherium Product Testing

Everything Dinosaur promised the company’s Facebook, Twitter and other social media fans/followers an update on the amazing ITOY Studio Paraceratherium figure before the end of the year (2020).  True to our word, we have posted up a short video on the Everything Dinosaur YouTube channel.  In the video, the narrator explains about product testing for these prehistoric animal replicas and if all goes to plan, the Paraceratherium models will be in stock at Everything Dinosaur early in 2021.

A Quick YouTube Paraceratherium Preview

Before Everything Dinosaur can bring the ITOY Studio Paraceratherium models into stock, the figures have to pass product safety tests, but this doesn’t stop us giving you a quick preview of the Paraceratherium.  In the video we showcase both variants:

  • ITOY Studio Paraceratherium – Deluxe (model supplied with polystone display base)
  • ITOY Studio Paraceratherium – Elite (model supplied without polystone display base)

The Paraceratherium Model with Display Base (Deluxe)

For prehistoric animal models and figures: Prehistoric Animal Models and Figures.

What a fantastic model it is!  The detail on the figure is simply amazing!  It is incredibly life-life with beautiful skin folds and creases.  It is big too, the model measures over 40 cm long and the display base is a generous 32 cm in length and over 14 cm wide.

Works with 1:20 Scale Replicas

Although no scale is declared for this figure, based on an adult Paraceratherium being around 8 metres in length with a height at the withers (just behind the shoulders), of 4.5 metres, Everything Dinosaur team members estimate that this replica is in approximately 1:20 scale.  So, it will work well with lots of other prehistoric mammal models, which are in the same or similar scale such as Mastodons, Mammoths, Sabre-toothed cats and Hyaenodonts.

Once Product Testing Has Been Completed Everything Dinosaur Intends to Bring this Figure into Stock

Paraceratherium Model Product Testing

As the authorised European importers of the ITOY Studio range, Everything Dinosaur has commissioned product safety tests with the highly respected Eurofins (independent testing company).  Once these tests have been completed and the ITOY Studio figures certified, Everything Dinosaur intends to bring these spectacular models into stock.

A spokesperson for Everything Dinosaur stated that they hoped that the test results would be available in a few days, once certified, the Paraceratherium figures would be available early in 2021.

New PNSO A-Shu the Qianzhousaurus Dinosaur Model

By |2024-02-29T07:41:13+00:00December 26th, 2020|Categories: Dinosaur Fans, Everything Dinosaur News and Updates, Everything Dinosaur Products, Main Page, Photos of Everything Dinosaur Products, Press Releases|2 Comments

PNSO A-Shu the Qianzhousaurus Dinosaur Model

Everything Dinosaur announced on the company’s social media pages earlier this month that in 2021 PNSO was going to be adding a model of the Chinese theropod Qianzhousaurus (Q. sinensis) to their model range.  Today, we can post up some more images of this exciting tyrannosaurid replica, a figure that will be available from Everything Dinosaur early next year.

The New for 2021 PNSO Qianzhousaurus Replica

PNSO Qianzhousaurus dinosaur model.

“Pinocchio rex”

Named and described in 2014 (Junchang Lü et al), this Late Cretaceous member of the Tyrannosauridae family from Jiangxi Province, was nicknamed “Pinocchio rex” as its snout was disproportionately longer than other, similar sized tyrannosaurids.  Its discovery confirmed that there was a branch of the tyrannosaur family tree that consisted of large, hypercarnivores with different shaped skulls compared to their deep-skulled, bone-crunching cousins.

A Closer View of the Long-snouted Tyrannosaur Qianzhousaurus sinensis

The PNSO Qianzhousaurus dinosaur model.  Along with Alioramus this dinosaur forms a new clade of tyrannosaurids named the Alioramini (pronounced Al-ee-oh-ram-eye).

Qianzhousaurus Dinosaur Model

Ever since the first fossils of Alioramus came to light in the early 1970’s, palaeontologists had suspected that there was sub-branch of the Tyrannosauridae family.  Qianzhousaurus shed light on the “other evolutionary branch” of tyrannosaurids.

The new for 2021 PNSO Qianzhousaurus model will have an articulated lower jaw.

Model Measurements

The Qianzhousaurus figure measures a fraction under 24 cm in length and the raised tail is a just under 10 cm high.  Although this dinosaur has been named from incomplete remains (see skeletal drawing showing the known fossil material below), palaeontologists estimate that this predator was around 8-9 metres in length, based on this, Everything Dinosaur estimates that the PNSO model is approximately 1:35 scale.

A Clear Rod to Help Support the Dinosaur

Qianzhousaurus is supplied with a plastic stand, that when placed under the chest area helps to support the model.  The clear plastic stand is designed to be unobtrusive and it permits the body proportions of this meat-eating dinosaur to be kept accurate as per the scientific record.  There is no need for oversized feet on this tyrannosaurid replica.

These new Rebor figures work really well in dioramas and prehistoric scenes with the various tyrannosaurid models in this range.  For example, Everything Dinosaur team members took a Rebor “Vanilla Ice” tyrannosaur model (mountain colour variant) and took some shots in the studio to see how the figures looked together.

PNSO to Introduce New Version of T. rex “Wilson”

By |2023-10-05T09:48:05+01:00December 19th, 2020|Categories: Dinosaur Fans, Everything Dinosaur News and Updates, Everything Dinosaur Products, Main Page, Photos of Everything Dinosaur Products, Press Releases|26 Comments

PNSO to Introduce New Version of T. rex “Wilson”

PNSO are going to introduce a new version of the Tyrannosaurus rex replica known as “Wilson”.  This beautifully crafted model, which is based on a real T. rex fossil specimen discovered by the famous American palaeontologist Barnum Brown, will be in stock at Everything Dinosaur in 2021.

The New PNSO “Wilson” the Tyrannosaurus rex Model

PNSO "Wilson" Tyrannosaurus rex model.
The new PNSO “Wilson” Tyrannosaurus rex dinosaur model.  The new T. rex model stands a fraction under 13 cm tall and is approximately 34.5 cm long.

Based on AMNH-5027

The new Tyrannosaurus rex figure is based on the first, substantial skeleton of this iconic theropod dinosaur to be reconstructed and mounted for display.  The fossil specimen (AMNH-5027), consists of an almost complete skull (the first virtually complete T. rex skull to have been discovered), the pelvis, rib cage and a nearly complete vertebral column, including cervical vertebrae that proved that this dinosaur had a relatively short neck.  In total, about 45% of the skeleton was recovered and this famous fossil is on display at the American Museum of Natural History in New York.

The PNSO “Wilson” Figure is Based on an Actual T. rex Specimen

PNSO "Wilson" is based on an actual fossil exhibit.
The new PNSO “Wilson” the Tyrannosaurus rex replica is based on the museum specimen AMNH-5027.  The replica has an articulated lower jaw.

A Replica with a Deeper Chest

As this figure is based on fossil material the design team at PNSO have been very keen to get the body proportions correct.  The chest is much deeper and as a result, the arms look disproportionately much smaller.  The powerful and muscular legs that would have provided adequate support for the living animal are not quite up to the job when it comes to this new model.  In order to keep the feet anatomically correct, the model is supported by a transparent rod which helps to prop up the chest.

The New Model Packaging and a Diagram Showing the Chest Support in Use

The model is supplied with a transparent support stand (PNSO T. rex).

A 1:35 Scale Model of Tyrannosaurus rex

The new PNSO “Wilson” the Tyrannosaurus rex measures around 34.5 cm long and it has a declared scale of 1:35.  The head stands 12.9 cm high and this beautifully designed dinosaur model is going to tick all the boxes for collectors who like their figures to represent real animals recorded in the fossil record.

Recognising the Importance of the Hell Creek Formation

With the introduction of “Sede” the Ankylosaurus, “Doyle” the Triceratops and “Wilson” the Tyrannosaurus rex, PNSO are recognising the significance of the famous Hell Creek Formation.  All three of these iconic dinosaurs have been reported from the Hell Creek Formation, although Ankylosaurus fossil material is exceptionally rare when compared to the Ceratopsidae and tyrannosaurids.

The New Schleich Brontosaurus Dinosaur Model in Stock

Schleich Brontosaurus Arrives at Everything Dinosaur

The last of the new for 2021 prehistoric animal models that have been recently announced by Schleich, the beautiful Brontosaurus dinosaur model, is now in stock at Everything Dinosaur.  Our shipment of Schleich Brontosaurus figures was separated from the other new figures that were scheduled to be delivered this week.  The Ceratosaurus, Pachycephalosaurus, Kaprosuchus and the marine reptile model Mosasaurus arrived yesterday, now the quintet of figures is complete with the delivery of the Brontosaurus.

Arrived Safely!  The New for 2021 Schleich Brontosaurus Dinosaur Model is Available from Everything Dinosaur

The new for 2021 dinosaur model (Schleich Brontosaurus) has arrived at Everything Dinosaur’s warehouse and is now available to purchase.

Bully for the Brontosaurus Model

Brontosaurus is one of those dinosaurs that is popular and easily identified by the general public.  This is in part to it being featured in lots of films, television shows and books.  A Brontosaurus featured in the original King Kong movie that was distributed by Radio Pictures, released in 1933 and starring Fay Wray, Robert Armstrong, Bruce Cabot and of course, King Kong himself.  King Kong was a giant gorilla that shared its home (Skull Island), with a variety of dinosaurs including a fearsome, supposedly carnivorous Brontosaurus.

The genus name was erected by the eminent American palaeontologist Othniel Charles Marsh in 1879.  However, for many years it was regarded as a junior synonym of the closely related Apatosaurus that had been named earlier.  The name Brontosaurus was regarded as “nomen dubium”.

An extensive revision of the diplodocid dinosaurs, at the time the most comprehensive review of dinosaur fossil material ever undertaken (2015), led to establishment once again of Brontosaurus as a valid genus.

The Diplodocidae Family

The scientific review of the Diplodocidae family of sauropods was undertaken by Dr Emanuel Tschopp, Professor Octávio Mateus, (Museu da Lourinhã, Portugal), Dr Roger Benson (Oxford University) and edited by Dr Andrew Farke (Raymond M. Alf Museum of Palaeontology, California).  Schleich have added a replica of this famous Jurassic dinosaur to their range and it joins other long-necked dinosaur figures such as Barapasaurus, Brachiosaurus and the model of the South American sauropod Agustinia, which was only introduced a few months ago (2020).

One of our Dinosaurs is Missing!

A spokesperson from Everything Dinosaur commented:

“Just like in the 1975 Walt Disney production “One of our Dinosaurs is Missing”, Everything Dinosaur were missing a long-necked dinosaur.  Ports around the world have been very congested and delivery networks so stretched that sometimes cargoes are separated from each other, even though they are in the same shipment.  Within 24-hours all the Schleich figures were safely in our warehouse.”

New Schleich Prehistoric Animal Models Arrive at Everything Dinosaur

The first of the new for 2021 Schleich prehistoric animal models are now in stock at Everything Dinosaur.  Four of the five new figures, the Schleich Mosasaurus with the articulated jaw and the Kaprosuchus (also with an articulated jaw), along with the dinosaur figures (Pachycephalosaurus and Ceratosaurus), have been safely delivered to Everything Dinosaur’s warehouse.  The fifth and final figure to be announced by Schleich for the time being, a magnificent replica of Brontosaurus will arrive shortly.

New for 2021 Schleich Prehistoric Animal Models

The quartet of figures represent three prehistoric animals associated with the Cretaceous (Mosasaurus, Kaprosuchus and Pachycephalosaurus) and one theropod dinosaur from the Jurassic (Ceratosaurus).  Each model has been hand-painted and three of them have articulated jaws, the exception is the Pachycephalosaurus.  Model collectors like to know the measurements for any figures that Everything Dinosaur supplies.  With the Schleich range no scale for these models has been declared, but with an idea of the size of the actual figure, collectors can work out the scale themselves if they happen to know the approximate size of the animal, as calculated from the fossil record.

Customising Caiuajara dobruskii

Our thanks to model collector Elizabeth who sent into Everything Dinosaur a superb selection of photographs of her customised CollectA Deluxe Caiuajara flying reptile figures.  CollectA have introduced several large pterosaur figures in recent years, the Caiuajara (C. dobruskii) model was introduced in 2019, following the earlier introduction of a Dimorphodon (2017) and a Guidraco figure in 2015.  These large figures provide plenty of scope for modellers to add their own slant when it comes to depicting these long extinct archosaurs.

The flying reptile figures have been given custom make-overs by the extremely talented Ben Van Steenberge and Martin Garratt, what fantastic efforts too.

Caiuajara dobruskii

This large crested tapejarid, fossils of which herald from southern Brazil, was formally described back in 2014 (P. Manzig et al).  To read an article about the discovery of Caiuajara: New Species of Flying Reptile Identified from Pterosaur Graveyard.

Although the dating of the strata in which the pterosaur fossils were found has proved controversial, several palaeontologists estimate that this flying reptile with its 2-3 metre wingspan was flying over southern Brazil between 93 to 75 million years ago (Turonian to Campanian faunal stages of the Cretaceous).

Leaving feedback on the CollectA Deluxe Caiuajara figure on Everything Dinosaur’s website, Elizabeth commented:

“The CollectA Supreme line is a dream for lovers of pterosaurs.  I have leapt to buy each one!  This is a particularly striking creature with its massive crest.  I like the way that CollectA chose to paint it brightly to indicate a display feature to other Caiuajara.  The model is large and well made – an asset to any collection.”

Priced extremely competitively, dinosaur fans and discerning model collectors have the opportunity to acquire the W-Dragon range from a well-respected UK-based company with the ability to send parcels to a global customer base.

The Giganotosaurus (G. carolinii) dinosaur model is just the first of a series of figures that are being shipped by Everything Dinosaur.  The W-Dragon Giraffatitan figure is expected to follow in the New Year along with the W-Dragon Spinosaurus replica, a production run of which was especially commissioned by Everything Dinosaur.

A fact sheet on Giraffatitan is currently being prepared as team members await the arrival of the second shipment of W-Dragon models into their warehouse.

Developing Closer Links with Producers

Everything Dinosaur has been working closely with W-Dragon for some time helping this exciting model manufacturer by providing advice on product safety tests and certification, putting in place effective logistics to permit authorised movement of goods across international borders and ensuring a legitimate transfer of funds to secure products and support additional production runs.

Commenting on the arrival of the beautiful Giganotosaurus, Sue Judd of Everything Dinosaur stated:

“Everything Dinosaur has been developing closer links with several producers.  We appreciate how difficult it has been to acquire W-Dragon models, now our customers can gain access to this range knowing that when we supply W-Dragon, these figures are backed by our award-wining 5-star service.”

Sue, who is the Financial Director and nicknamed “Tyrannosaurus Sue” added:

“There are lots of beautiful models in the W-Dragon portfolio.  These figures are a welcome addition to our growing range of brands that we offer.  W-Dragon will benefit from this relationship with Everything Dinosaur allowing their products access to a wider market.”
