Exclusive Spinosaurus Scale Drawing Celebrating a New Species
Everything Dinosaur has commissioned a Spinosaurus mirabilis scale drawing as the company prepares for the arrival of the new Haolonggood S. mirabilis models. This illustration will be used in the company’s fact sheet about this recently described spinosaurid known from the Farak Formation of Niger (Africa). Creating the scale drawing for this dinosaur was challenging. For example, the holotype specimen represents a sub-adult individual with an estimated total body length of around 8 metres. Other fossil material also represents immature individuals. The size of an adult S. mirabilis remains uncertain, although estimates of between ten and twelve metres in length have been proposed.

A Spinosaurus mirabilis Scale Drawing
Formally named and described in 2026 (Sereno et al), Spinosaurus mirabilis was erected based on an assortment of cranial and postcranial bones and teeth collected from two locations in Niger (Jenguebi in the centre of the country and Iguidi in the west of the country).
The fossil bearing deposits are approximately 95 million years old (Cenomanian faunal stage of the Cretaceous). Previously, Spinosaurus fossils had been associated with coastal regions. However, the new fossil locations in Niger document animals that were living inland, some 500-1000 kilometres from the nearest marine shoreline. Their proximity to intact partial skeletons of long-necked dinosaurs, all buried in river sediments, suggest they lived in a forested inland habitat crossed by numerous rivers.

The scale drawing will be used in an Everything Dinosaur fact sheet. It is being prepared as team members get ready to receive a shipment of Haolonggood models including the S. mirabilis figures.
These beautiful spinosaurid models are supplied with a coelacanth. It is thought that this dinosaur filled an ecological niche similar to an extant heron. It may have stalked the shallows of its fluvial environment hunting the many large species of fish that lived in the tropical waters.

Each Haolonggood S. mirabilis model measures around twenty-eight centimetres long. They have a declared scale of 1:35. Based on this scale, the spinosaurid would measure just under ten metres in length (9.8 metres).
Exciting New Theropods from Haolonggood
Intriguingly, although very similar to Spinosaurus aegyptiacus numerous anatomical traits supported the erection of a new species. Several autapomorphies were identified in the fossil material, and of course, there is the bizarre scimitar-like crest associated with the top of the snout. This crest is formed by the prefrontal and nasal bones. In addition, it has been speculated that the limbs of S. mirabilis were proportionately longer than the limbs of Spinosaurus aegyptiacus. Longer limbs may have been an adaptation to help this predator to move through shallow water.
Mike from Everything Dinosaur commented:
“Sue and I are looking forward to the arrival of the three Haolonggood Spinosaurus mirabilis models. We will send out the fact sheet to customers who purchase one of these new figures. We expect them in stock later this month, [October 2026] and as soon as they arrive, we will email those customers who requested an alert.”
