CollectA Triceratops – A Dinosaur with Attitude

CollectA Not-to-Scale Triceratops Model Praised

One of the first dinosaur models introduced by CollectA was a not-to-scale replica of the famous horned dinosaur called Triceratops (T. horridus).  Part of a set of six prehistoric animal models, the Triceratops figure has proved very popular with dinosaur model collectors and fans, simply because it seems to have a real attitude about it.  The dinosaur is depicted with its huge head tipped forward and low in the classic “charging Triceratops pose” from the 1966 movie “One Million Years B.C.”.

The model gives the impression of a very heavy and strong dinosaur, one that even the most brave (or desperate) tyrannosaur would not want to face.  The model is well painted in a blueish/grey colour and there is nice detailing around the huge neck frill and the on the skull. The beak on this huge herbivore has been very carefully depicted.

Triceratops regularly features in Everything Dinosaur’s survey of the most popular prehistoric animals.

A Picture of the Completed Dinosaur Chocolate Nests

Everything Dinosaur team members had a go at making these simple but very tasty chocolate treats, using one of the recipes on the company’s website.  They proved very easy to make and we were quite proud of our results.

A fun suggestion to give Easter baking a bit of a twist from palaeontologists.  The recipe was easy to follow and these cakes would make super dinosaur party food, perhaps for a birthday or as food for dinosaur themed parties.

Team Members at Everything Dinosaur

Another busy day at the dinosaur model and toy company Everything Dinosaur.  Recently, team members had to go into a professional photographic studio so that they could take some new pictures of the dinosaur toys, plush, dinosaur models and other prehistoric animal themed merchandise that make up the company’s product range.  At the end of the shoot we were able to take some more pictures of staff members having fun.

With staff packing orders for customers every day, even at weekends it is important to every now and then to have some fun.  After all, we do spend a lot of time either at the office or in the warehouse.  Or perhaps it is because we are surrounded by dinosaur toys and prehistoric animal models all day.

The famous Chinese philosopher Confucius is believed to have said “find a job that you love and you will never have to work a day in your life”.

We at Everything Dinosaur think this is very sound advice.  To see the range of dinosaur and prehistoric animal themed items we have in stock: Visit Everything Dinosaur.

At Everything Dinosaur we get asked to source various dinosaur and prehistoric animal models for customers.  As we know the Wild Safari Dinosaurs model range (Safari Ltd) quite well, it proved helpful when asked to supply a Dodo model with some dinosaur toys.

The Dodo model is part of the range of figures known as “birds of the world” by the American model manufacturer Safari Ltd.  Everything Dinosaur stocks the Wild Safari Prehistoric World figures made by this company.

A Beautiful Sinosauropteryx Fossil

A Beautiful Sinosauropteryx Fossil

Some of the fossils from China, such as the little feathered dinosaurs from Liaoning Province are exquisitely detailed.  Below is a picture of the head of Sinosauropteryx which shows some amazing detail.

The head shows the distinctive covering of proto-feathers on the nape of the neck.  Close inspection reveals that the covering of tufts of feathers covered virtually the entire body.

Helping to Promote a British Fossil Festival

Staff at Everything Dinosaur have been helping to promote a British fossil festival and to assist with the planning and organising of the event, which is to take place at Lyme Regis (Dorset).  As part of the science based activities there is going to be a special schools day, which is the first day of the festival.  Team members at Everything Dinosaur who deliver dinosaur workshops in schools have been providing advice and support so that more volunteers can help teach school children about fossils.

Dodos in the 21st Century

By |2023-02-11T13:35:52+00:00May 28th, 2007|Categories: Animal News Stories, Main Page, Photos|0 Comments

I want a Dodo Figure!

Well it is different I suppose, a dodo figure.  One extinct animal is as good as another, although I’m not sure where I can find one, I have never seen one in any shops or on-line, and don’t know if it is part of any range (or what range of animals it would belong to).  At Everything Dinosaur we specialise in dinosaur models and dinosaur toys and we do know the Wild Safari Dinos model range quite well.

Dodo Figure

Started by looking at our books and magazine articles on dinosaurs and prehistoric mammals to see if I could find a picture of a Dodo, and maybe a reference to it.  Found what I wanted in an old book – a reference to Doug Watson (a sculptor), who had made a Dodo model.  Now we just had to find it.

Contacted our American museum friends and found that they did have one that was part of a range called “Wings of the World”, covers a multitude of animals.  At least I now knew what range it belonged too.  One Dodo sourced, and one happy customer.

Fact file – Dodo – common name “nauseating bird”.  Apparently, because when sailors first encountered this bird on the island of Mauritius, and killed it for food, it was found to be so greasy and oily it made anyone eating it ill.

We find all sorts of models for our customers.
