Team members at Everything Dinosaur have been re-reading the second edition of the excellent dinosaur book “Dinosaurs How They Lived and Evolved”. We reviewed this publication in the early summer, but as the autumn darkness descends we have been visiting once again its chapters on the dinosaur family tree and dinosaur biology, ecology and behaviour. This really is an excellent and most informative dinosaur book.

“Dinosaurs How They Lived and Evolved”
The front cover of “Dinosaurs How They Lived and Evolved” features an illustration of the Jurassic heterodontosaurid Tianyulong munching on some ginkgo leaves. This illustration was created by the very talented Bob Nicholls. As this bizarre Chinese dinosaur is featured on the cover we included a model of a Tianyulong (PNSO) in our photograph. The authors of this wonderful dinosaur book, much updated and revised from the first edition, are to be congratulated for compiling such a well-crafted book on the Dinosauria.
“Dinosaurs How They Lived and Evolved” is crammed full of fascinating facts and amazing information, all presented in a writing style that makes it easy for the general reader to follow. The myriad of drawings, charts, maps, diagrams and prehistoric animal themed artwork help to illustrate key points in the story of the Dinosauria.
This book is highly recommended and would make an excellent gift for the festive season.
Co-author Darren Naish now sells copies of his books here (subject to availability), ask him nicely and he might include a special customised dinosaur illustration for you.

Rebor T. rex Carcass “Bites the Dust” Pair Plain and Jungle
The Rebor T. rex carcass “Bites the Dust” models are in stock at Everything Dinosaur. These two figures (jungle and plain colour variants), have arrived at our warehouse and team members have been busy contacting all those customers who asked to be emailed about the latest additions to our inventory and the Rebor range.

The Tale of a Theropod Dinosaur that Met Its Demise
From the pathology recorded on the fossilised bones of this apex predator, palaeontologists are fairly certain that T. rex had a very tough life. It was a question of kill or be killed and it has been suggested that tyrannosaurs were cannibalistic and that these dinosaurs had to cope with vicious intraspecific combats, essentially fights with other tyrannosaurs, possibly over hunting territories, mates or kills.
As hypercarnivores most likely specialising in the hunting of large prey animals such as hadrosaurs and ceratopsians, attacks could go wrong, with perhaps fatal consequences. We congratulate Rebor for creating such carefully crafted figures.
The Rebor T. rex carcass is available in two colour variants, plain (see photograph above) and jungle (see below). Each figure measures around 34 cm in length and depicts a dead Tyrannosaurus rex. They will make really exciting additions to a dinosaur model collection and provide an opportunity for model makers to build some amazing prehistoric animal dioramas.

The Queen Motif Continues
Collectors of Rebor models will notice that the rock group Queen motif continues with the introduction of these two fine figures. In the spring of 2019, Rebor introduced a pair of T. rex replicas under the title of “Killer Queen” a possible homage to a track and later a single from the British rock band’s “Sheer Heart Attack” album from the mid-1970s. Queen released a single entitled “Another One Bites the Dust” in 1980, it was a worldwide hit, reaching number 7 in the UK singles chart and topping the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. We think these two fabulous fatality figures will prove to be a big hit with model collectors and fans of Rebor too.

New Papo Models Feature in an Everything Dinosaur Newsletter
New Papo models feature in the Everything Dinosaur early September newsletter including the controversial Papo Giganotosaurus dinosaur model. The Papo Giganotosaurus is very well made and distinctly Papo, however, its anatomically inaccurate stance and unusual body proportions have led to criticism from some prehistoric animal model collectors. This substantial dinosaur model has certainly divided opinions. Some collectors might regard it as a throwback to much earlier dinosaur sculpts but there is no denying the quality of the finish and the excellent detailing, especially those carefully created skin folds and scales.

Papo Chilesaurus and the New Colour Variant Papo Parasaurolophus
Such has been the excitement and controversy over the introduction of the Papo Giganotosaurus dinosaur model, that the other recently introduced Papo models have been somewhat overlooked by dinosaur model fans and collectors. However, Everything Dinosaur team members were eager to make amends and include the Papo Chilesaurus and the new colour variant of the Papo Parasaurolophus model in the company’s newsletter too.

A Popular Postosuchus and a Rare Bullyland Ichthyosaur
Everything Dinosaur had received a number of enquiries about the popular, recently introduced Schleich Postosuchus figure. More stock of this replica of a Late Triassic predator had recently arrived and team members were keen to communicate this information to our subscribers. In addition, there were just a few of the very rare and now out of production Bullyland Ichthyosaurus models still available.
This Ichthyosaurus figure had been officially retired around seven years ago, it was first omitted from the Bullyland brochure back in 2013. We know how collectors like to acquire rare models, so we included a mention of the Bullyland Ichthyosaurus in our newsletter, helping our customers to avoid paying exorbitant prices for the same figure on auction sites.

The first of the new for 2020 Papo dinosaur models are in stock! The Papo Giganotosaurus, the Papo Chilesaurus and the Papo Parasaurolophus (new colour variant). Papo’s production plans were badly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic but the first of the 2020 batch of new figures planned for this year are safe and sound in Everything Dinosaur’s warehouse. Team members are busy working through all the reserve lists, contacting customers and despatching the Papo product newsletter that we had been promising our subscribers.

The Papo Giganotosaurus Dinosaur Model
When team members first saw a prototype of the Giganotosaurus they lobbied Papo to try and change the posture. The figure is posed in the “kangaroo stance”, a body plan long abandoned by vertebrate palaeontologists. The dinosaur might reflect the Allosaurus illustration by Zdeněk Burian, or the titular theropod “Gwangi” as depicted by Ray Harryhausen in the movie “Valley of the Gwangi”, as such it is very much a retrospective, but just like those earlier depictions, the replica certainly has appeal.

This is a figure that is unlikely to appear in a museum exhibition next to a Giganotosaurus mount in a bid to demonstrate what scientists think this theropod actually looked like. However, we suspect that it is going to make a lot of young dinosaur fans and Papo model collectors very happy.

In addition, the new for 2020 Papo Chilesaurus dinosaur model has arrived, a replica of one of the strangest dinosaurs described to date. The model measures around fifteen centimetres in length and the tail is some eight centimetres in the air. The Papo Chilesaurus has an articulated jaw.
In Stock! A Papo Chilesaurus Dinosaur Model

Regarded as a “transitional taxon” by many palaeontologists as its skeleton exhibits a suite of characteristics that show affinity to both the Theropoda and the Ornithischia, Chilesaurus has been cited in the debate regarding the structure of the Dinosauria and whether or not the Baron et al scientific paper published in 2017, has redefined the phylogeny of the dinosaurs. Although regarded as a biped that was capable of moving around on all fours, Papo have chosen to put their figure in a quadrupedal position.
Papo Parasaurolophus (New Colour Variant)
The third in this eagerly anticipated trio, is the Papo Parasaurolophus colour variation. This model is the same sculpt as the previous Parasaurolophus but the mottled greens in the original figure have been replaced by a striking series of black stripes that run from the tip of the tail up to the neck. The stripes are also present on the curved head crest. The colour scheme of the figure is a blend of greys, browns and muted oranges. The new colour scheme is certainly intriguing, the stripes would have helped camouflage this dinosaur in a woodland for example and there is some evidence to suggest that these duck-billed dinosaurs preferred inland, forested environments.

Preparing for the Beasts of the Mesozoic Zuniceratops
A neoceratopsian is drawing nearer. Everything Dinosaur will soon be receiving stock of the new Beasts of the Mesozoic ceratopsians, including the wonderful Zuniceratops figure. This colourful creation depicts Zuniceratops christopheri, the oldest North American ceratopsian possessing prominent, well-developed brow horns, a foretaste of what was to become with the evolution of the centrosaurine and chasmosaurine lineages of horned dinosaurs.

Preparing Fact Sheets on Horned Dinosaurs Including Zuniceratops
Everything Dinosaur likes to supply a free fact sheet with sales of dinosaur models. Over the years, the company has researched and written hundreds of fact sheets. As a result, most of the Beasts of the Mesozoic Ceratopsidae are already covered, but Zuniceratops is one of the exceptions. Staff are currently completing their fact sheet all about this neoceratopsian from the Middle Turonian Moreno Hill Formation of west-central New Mexico. A scale drawing of this relatively small member of the horned dinosaurs has already been commissioned.

Stocks of the new for 2020 Beasts of the Mesozoic ceratopsians are due to arrive at Everything Dinosaur’s UK warehouse in a few weeks. In addition, new supplies of the popular Beasts of the Mesozoic Raptors will be arriving too.
At Home in the Landscape Zuniceratops christopheri
Zuniceratops in the landscape. The beautiful Beasts of the Mesozoic Zuniceratops dinosaur model.
Zuniceratops christopheri
Zuniceratops was formally named in 1998 (Douglas Wolfe and James Kirkland), in a preliminary description. The publishing of the scientific paper coincided with the discovery of a substantial Zuniceratops bonebed that provided hundreds more fossil bones representing at least seven individuals (based on the number of lower jaws found).
The bones are disarticulated and represent a group of different sized animals, so calculating the maximum size for Zuniceratops is problematic, but most palaeontologists estimate that this horned dinosaur that lived around 90 million years ago (Turonian stage of the Late Cretaceous), measured between 2.2 and 3.3 metres in length. As such, it was very much smaller than its descendants, the centrosaurine and chasmosaurine dinosaurs that were so diverse and numerous during the Campanian and Maastrichtian faunal stages of the Late Cretaceous.
The co-association of individuals of various sizes in the bonebed suggests that this dinosaur lived in herds, with adults and younger animals demonstrating communal behaviour.
Rebor Figures Feature in Everything Dinosaur Newsletter
The new Rebor X-REX Swarm (plague variant), makes headlines in the Everything Dinosaur customer newsletter. The arrival of this new figure has made headlines in the latest customer newsletter to be sent out by the UK-based company. This eagerly anticipated figure from Rebor, the second in their science-fiction/dinosaur hybrid series, had been delayed in production due to the COVID-19 pandemic, however, this beautifully-crafted figure is now available.

Broodlord and Stegosaurus Woodland Also Make an Appearance
The newsletter also featured the first of the Rebor science fiction figures X-REX Broodlord. This popular model came out in late January (2020) and with the introduction of Swarm, we wanted to remind collectors that we had a few of these figures available to purchase. In addition, as well as receiving a shipment of Swarm models, we were able to obtain a number of the Rebor Stegosaurus Garden figure in the Woodland colour scheme.

The latest newsletter certainly has a strong emphasis on the Rebor range. There are lots of planned new model introductions from Rebor for quarter 3 and 4 and team members are looking forward to these new figures coming into the company’s warehouse.
A spokesperson from Everything Dinosaur commented:
