JurassicCollectables New CollectA 2016 Unboxing (Part 2)

JurassicCollectables and CollectA 2016 (part 2)

Over the weekend Everything Dinosaur team members were able to catch up with their correspondence and time was found to view some of the prehistoric animal videos that we had been looking forward to seeing.  One such video was this excellent review of the next batch of CollectA prehistoric animals to hit the shelves in our warehouse.

JurassicCollectables

This was a sort of “peep behind the scenes” by JurassicCollectables, the five models featured in this short review are not yet released and they won’t be available for a few weeks yet, so we are grateful to the talented team at JurassicCollectables who took time out to make this ten minute video – just enough to whet the appetites of dinosaur fans and model collectors.

New for 2016 CollectA Unboxing by JurassicCollectables (Part 2)

The models featured are (in appearance order) the majestic marine reptile Thalassomedon (pronounced Fal-lass-so-me-don), the “ostrich mimic” Struthiomimus, a tyrannosaurid Lythronax and last but not least the deluxe 1:20 scale Andrewsarchus and the Deinocheirus figure.   The narrator takes the viewer through each replica in turn and takes care to point out the details, such as the splendid feathers on the theropods and the air brushing on the fearsome Andrewsarchus.

CollectA Deinocheirus Model

Particular attention is paid to the  Deinocheirus replica, a model of a dinosaur that recently (2014), received a makeover following the publication of a new scientific paper reporting on a study of more complete fossil material, first muted a few months earlier at the annual Society of Vertebrate Palaeontology meeting.

CollectA have got so many new for 2016 prehistoric animal models coming out, that those clever people at JurassicCollectables have had to split their unboxing video into two parts.

JurassicCollectables

Everything Dinosaur sent out a complete set of these new for 2016 CollectA replicas and in this unboxing video the narrator takes viewers through a summary of the models that were included in the first batch of releases.  It’s an impressive line up with the terrific Tyrannosaurus rex corpse up first and JurassicCollectables provide lot of amazing close ups of the injuries sustained by this unfortunate tyrannosaurid.  Then it’s on to the hunting T. rex model as our narrator makes short work of the product packaging to reveal this replica in all its glory.

Check out the 1:40 scale CollectA feathered T. rex video review on the JurassicCollectables YouTube channel.  It has over ten thousand video views already and it has only been up a few weeks.

Everything Dinosaur Fact Sheets Get a Mention

The reviewer mentions that Everything Dinosaur supplies a fact sheet on every named prehistoric animal that we supply, we do like to go the extra mile when it comes to looking after our customers.  We have several hundred prehistoric animal fact sheets and the latest, Nanshiungosaurus (number 807) is currently being checked before final approval.

Why might Everything Dinosaur have researched and written a Nanshiungosaurus fact sheet?  All will be revealed next month…

Next up on the CollectA unboxing video (part 1) is the horned dinosaur Mercuriceratops and JurassicCollectables lets the viewer take in all the exquisite details on this model.  The Metriacanthosaurus replica follows and it is great to see CollectA making a model of another type of British Theropod dinosaur.

Last but not least we have the two 1:40 scale dinosaur replicas that have come out in the first part of this year.  There is the 1:40 scale feathered Beishanlong and to conclude this video, the CollectA 1:40 scale Torvosaurus is shown.  This model seems to be the narrator’s favourite and what a splendid dinosaur model it is too.  In the video review, reference is made to the articulated jaw and in the comments section on the YouTube video we added further information about this feature.

Wild Safari Carcharodontosaurus, Masiakasaurus, Iguanodon and Shunosaurus Unboxing

The latest video from JurassicCollectables features a number of Wild Safari Prehistoric World animal models, mainly dinosaurs but the excellent Doedicurus replica, a re-issue of the glyptodont model that was retired by Safari Ltd a few years ago now, does make a brief appearance.  Team members at Everything Dinosaur carefully packed up the new for 2016 models and this video is an “unboxing video” with the narrator giving the viewer the opportunity to see the models as they come out of the packaging.

An Unboxing Video

The Safari Ltd Models Unboxing Video by JurassicCollectables

The video is around seven and a half minutes in duration and it does provide a wonderful opportunity to view Safari Ltd models close up.  There is also a fleeting appearance of the 1:40 CollectA feathered Tyrannosaurus rex model that we sent JurassicCollectables.  This particular Theropod replica was reviewed a few weeks ago, if you haven’t had chance to see this video, we do recommend it and you can catch it here: CollectA 1:40 Scale T. rex Dinosaur Models and a JurassicCollectables Video Review.

New for 2016 Wild Safari Prehistoric World Models Examined

The video provides a detailed view of each of the new for 2016 dinosaur models, the eagerly anticipated Carcharodontosaurus,  the snaggle-toothed Masiakasaurus, a stunning Iguanodon and Shunosaurus, one of the most remarkable members of the Early Jurassic Sauropoda.  Safari Ltd are to be congratulated for adding such a diverse set of models to their award winning model range.  The excellent lighting and clear narration provides the viewer with a comprehensive overview of each model.

With the retirement of the “Carnegie Dinosaurs”, a range or prehistoric animal models that were approved by the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, Safari Ltd have been able to concentrate on extending their not to scale collection and we can expect a number of new additions to this diverse model range over the next few years.  We at Everything Dinosaur, predict exciting times ahead for the Florida based manufacturer.

JurassicCollectables Reviews the Papo Baryonyx

By |2023-04-17T07:02:47+01:00April 2nd, 2016|Dinosaur Fans, Everything Dinosaur Products, Everything Dinosaur videos, Main Page|0 Comments

A Video Review of the Papo Baryonyx by JurassicCollectables

The first of the new for 2016 Papo prehistoric animal models is now in stock at Everything Dinosaur, and those clever people at JurassicCollectables have already produced a very informative video review of this, one of the largest models to be added to the Papo portfolio this year.

Baryonyx Named and Described in 1986

It is twenty years since Baryonyx was formally named and described (Charig and Milner – 1986) and since then, our understanding of the Spinosauridae and the sub-family Baryonychinae, which includes B. walkeri and its closest relatives, has altered quite dramatically.  The sculpt, the glossy, “wet look” given to this model and those dermal spines have certainly intrigued dinosaur model fans and divided opinions but it cannot be doubted that the model definitely has the look of a Papo replica about it.

The Video Review of the New for 2016 Papo Baryonyx Dinosaur Model

Video credit: JurassicCollectables

In this short video, (the video lasts for eight and a quarter minutes), the narrator guides the viewer over some of the finer points of this new replica – the attention to detail around the skull, the superb paintwork on the inside of the cavernous jaws (notwithstanding the rather too white of the dentition) and so forth.

A Video Review

JurassicCollectables show this new model from a number of angles, this really gives the viewer and any would-be model collector the opportunity to appreciate this replica and to make a proper assessment of it.  This is so much better than having to rely on just photographs.  The size of the new Papo Baryonyx can be appreciated when it is compared next to the classic Papo Spinosaurus and the now, ever so rare, green standing Tyrannosaurus rex figure (also Papo).

To see the range of Papo prehistoric animals available from Everything Dinosaur (including the Papo Baryonyx dinosaur model): Papo Dinosaur and Prehistoric Animal Models.

Papo Baryonyx Dinosaur Model

In the video, the Papo Baryonyx model has a tripodal stance (the hind feet and the tail resting on the ground), this too has irked some model collectors and at Everything Dinosaur we have tried to find models that balance on their hind feet for collectors, although this has not always been possible.  Hopefully, given the fact that a number of Papo Theropods also have a tripodal stance this will not detract too much from the overall enjoyment of the model.

JurassicCollectables have produced video reviews of every prehistoric animal replica that Papo have made, to see these videos and to subscribe to their excellent YouTube channel: Subscribe to JurassicCollectables on YouTube

There is much to be admired about this new Papo dinosaur.  We suspect that it will prove to be very popular with collectors and dinosaur fans alike, but it will, no doubt have its detractors.  We shall see what reviews and feedback we get from our customers and we look forward to welcoming into our warehouse the rest of the new for 2016 Papo dinosaur and prehistoric animal models.

JurassicCollectables Review the New CollectA Feathered T. rex

By |2024-05-05T19:03:40+01:00March 23rd, 2016|Dinosaur Fans, Everything Dinosaur videos, Main Page|0 Comments

JurassicCollectables Reviews the CollectA Feathered T. rex

This week the talented team at JurassicCollectables have put together another dinosaur model review.  This time, the splendid CollectA 1:40 scale feathered Tyrannosaurus rex is featured.  This replica was officially released late last year, but Everything Dinosaur received some stock early.  This is the second 1:40 scale model T. rex produced by the Hong Kong based company, under the “Deluxe” brand, the original T. rex (see picture below), was amongst the very first of the larger scale models CollectA introduced, it was released in 2009.

The Non-Feathered CollectA 1:40 Scale Tyrannosaurus rex Model

The feathered Tyrannosaurus rex replica reflects the revision of the Tyrannosauroidea that has taken place over the last decade or so and JurassicCollectables guides the viewer through the main anatomical features of this, the most famous of all dinosaurs.  The wonderful lighting really helps to showcase the vibrant colours on this model and the narrator takes great care to discuss the fine detail of the sculpt, particularly that magnificent skull.

The Review of the Feathered Tyrannosaurus rex Model (CollectA) by JurassicCollectables

Video credit: JurassicCollectables

With a running time of nearly eight minutes, the video provides an excellent opportunity to peruse this CollectA replica.  There are two more feathered T. rex models being introduced by CollectA this year (hunting T. rex and T. rex corpse), delivery into our warehouse is imminent and we have already made plans to send these models over to JurassicCollectables for review.

To view more prehistoric animal reviews on the YouTube channel and to subscribe to JurassicCollectables: JurassicCollectables YouTube Channel.

Anatomy of a Feathered Tyrannosaur

It just goes to show how our views regarding tyrannosaurids and feathered dinosaurs in general have changed in the last decade or so.  Not only are depictions of feathered dinosaurs now commonplace in the scientific literature, but the model making companies are really working hard to update their various ranges.  The CollectA feathered Tyrannosaurus rex is one of the best of these replicas introduced to date, the commentator in the video compares this replica very favourably to the Sideshow Collectibles range, even though the CollectA model is a fraction of the price.

The video review gives a mention to the human figure that is supplied with most of the CollectA large models.  The figure, a palaeontologist of course, is Sir Arthur Gauge.  He was first introduced to the world when CollectA launched its scale model series, all those years ago now.  The dinosaur models may have changed, but Sir Arthur does not look a day older than when he was first seen in Everything Dinosaur’s warehouse back in 2009.

Matthew the Dinosaur King – Unboxing Video

It is always a pleasure to receive feedback from our many thousands of customers.  A number of dinosaur fans even have their own dedicated websites that review purchases made from Everything Dinosaur.  Take for example, Matthew the Dinosaur King’s YouTube channel, a site dedicated to reviewing his ever-growing prehistoric animal model collection and to dinosaurs in general.

Safari Ltd Dinosaur Models

Team members at Everything Dinosaur try their best to keep up with all the amazing video reviews that our customers post up.  There is never enough time to watch all the videos, or indeed, to read all the blog articles written about the various models bought,  however, from time to time there is a slot in our busy schedules and we get the chance to view and to comment.

Here is an unboxing video from Matthew.  In this short video (it is just under five minutes long), Matthew discusses his recent purchase of the new for 2016 Safari Ltd dinosaur models and the re-issue of the prehistoric animals – the Megatherium and the baby Woolly Mammoth.  He has produced a number of individual video reviews of these replicas and we are looking forward to viewing them.

All the models in this Everything Dinosaur unboxing video come from the Wild Safari Prehistoric World range (Safari Ltd).

Matthew provides lots of helpful information to the viewer.  Videos such as this unboxing video can help inform potential customers who are uncertain whether to buy a particular model.  The close up shots of each replica really gives the viewer the opportunity to get a good look at each figure.  In addition, Matthew adds lots of helpful details about the prehistoric animals he reviews, explaining where the fossils were found and what sort of habitat the creature might have lived in.  His videos are most informative and we are always pleased to see how our models (and our packaging) is appreciated by customers.

New Rebor 1:6 Scale Hatchling Velociraptors

By |2024-05-05T18:57:59+01:00March 9th, 2016|Everything Dinosaur News and Updates, Everything Dinosaur Products, Everything Dinosaur videos, Main Page|0 Comments

Rebor 1:6 Scale Velociraptor Hatchlings

The latest offering from Rebor has arrived in our warehouse and for the time being Everything Dinosaur team members are in danger of being overwhelmed by a pack of baby Velociraptors.  Rebor has added a set of nine, beautifully painted, 1:6 scale hatching Velociraptors to their blossoming product portfolio.  All of the dinosaur figures have different paint schemes and fans of the Jurassic Park/Jurassic World franchise will, no doubt, be able to match a number of the figures to the various Velociraptor incarnations seen in movies.

We are not too sure what the collective noun for a group of Velociraptors is, perhaps a “savage of Velociraptors” might be appropriate.  Whatever the term, Rebor have taken care to produce nine differently hand-painted models.  Not only is the skin colouration different, but there is some variation in the eye colouration and in addition, some hand-painted replicas have a vertical slit for a pupil, whilst others have a rounded pupil.

A Video Review

Our chums at JurassicCollectables have produced a marvellous unboxing video which shows the models in all their glory.  In this short video review (around eight minutes in length), JurassicCollectables open a set of nine boxes in turn and provide a close up view of each replica.  At Everything Dinosaur, we have made the complete set of all nine figures available as a single purchase option, but collectors do have the opportunity to purchase models individually, should they wish to go down the mystery blind box purchase route.

A spokesperson from Everything Dinosaur commented:

“The boxes are “blind”, this means that you can’t tell which Velociraptor model is inside until you actually open the box.  When sold individually, these Rebor 1:6 scale hatchling Velociraptors are a mystery blind box item.  We cannot guarantee which particular figure is in which box, we do appreciate that a number of model collectors do enjoy this aspect of collecting, never knowing quite which one of the set they are getting until the box is opened and all is revealed.”

The Unboxing Video Review by Jurassic Collectables

The Classic Velociraptor Form

All of the models are depicted in the classic Velociraptor form, there are no feathers to be seen, just lots of careful attention to detail.  Each model comes with its own stand so that the hatching Velociraptor can be displayed.  We are confident these little figures will prove to be very popular and we look forward to receiving comments from customers as they go about identifying their brood.

JurassicCollectables Review a New Dimetrodon Figure

By |2024-05-05T18:59:11+01:00March 3rd, 2016|Everything Dinosaur videos, Main Page, Product Reviews|0 Comments

Schleich Dimetrodon under the Spotlight

Those clever people at JurassicCollectables have produced a video review of the new for 2016 Dimetrodon replica by Schleich.  Under the brand umbrella “First Giants”, Schleich have introduced two models so far this year, the blue-coloured Dilophosaurus was recently reviewed and now the second of the replicas in this series, the Dimetrodon has been scrutinised.

The Review of the Dimetrodon Model (Schleich) by JurassicCollectables

Video credit: JurassicCollectables

In this brief video (it is a little over six minutes in length), a tour of the model is provided with commentary on the fantastic detail, especially those saggy skin folds and scales that makes this pelycosaur look so reptilian.  Quite a remarkable feat of model making by the design team at Schleich, they really do seem to have captured the essence of this bygone predator.  Particular attention is given to the paint job of the head and jaws (the lower jaw is articulated, like a number of other Schleich models).

The palate is well painted and shows some nice touches and those heterodont teeth are carefully weathered to give the model a touch of realism.  After all, depicting Dimetrodon with uniform teeth, just wouldn’t do.

Schleich Dimetrodon Model

This Permian predator was not closely related to the dinosaurs and birds.  It is often described as a “mammal-like reptile”, or, to be more technically accurate a “stem mammal” or a “non-mammalian synapsid”.  These reptiles were part of the evolutionary lineage that gave rise to modern mammals and that includes us.  The Dimetrodon genus was named by the famous American palaeontologist Edward Drinker Cope and a number of species are now known, they all had different sized and different shaped teeth in their jaws.

A Close Up of the Jaws of the Schleich Dimetrodon

The jaws of the Schleich Dimetrodon.

The jaws of the Schleich Dimetrodon.

Schleich have taken care to ensure that different sized teeth are depicted in the jaws (incisors and caniniforms at the front of the jaws), with smaller teeth towards the back of the mouth.  The notch located in the upper jaw in front of the premaxilla, typical of this family (Sphenacodontidae), can be clearly seen in the model.

To view more prehistoric animal reviews on the YouTube channel and to subscribe to JurassicCollectables: JurassicCollectables YouTube Channel.

“First Giants”

Although included in a range entitled “First Giants”, it is worth remembering that there were many large terrestrial vertebrates prior to the evolution of Dimetrodon, indeed, amongst the dozen of so species of Dimetrodon named, a number were relatively small, and most certainly, not all of them were apex predators.  However, having made this point, it is great to see a video review of this famous sail-backed reptile.

The narrator draws comparisons between this Schleich model and the Dimetrodon replica introduced by Papo back in 2013.  Everything Dinosaur produced their own video review of the Papo Dimetrodon, to view the video: Papo Dimetrodon Reviewed by Everything Dinosaur.

JurassicCollectables and Everything Dinosaur

One of the most exciting things about collecting dinosaur models is being able to swap views and feedback on the figures.  One of the best places out there to do this on the whole of the “world wide web” is the YouTube channel of JurassicCollectables.  How appropriate then, on the night of the Academy Awards (the Oscars), for Everything Dinosaur to announce that the UK-based mail order company has teamed up with the super talented film makers at JurassicCollectables!

Everything Dinosaur

Jurassic Collectables have operated a YouTube channel for the best part of seven years.  With over 46,000 subscribers and some 30.5 million views, this has certainly become the go to place for collectors and dinosaur fans to catch up on the latest prehistoric animal model introductions.  Take for example, the review of the new for 2016 Schleich Dilophosaurus model, one of the latest additions to our own Schleich product portfolio.  Great lighting, enables this replica to be shown off in all its glory and we love the attention to detail that the video reviewer shows, just like the attention to detail shown in the actual skin texture on the Dilophosaurus itself.

Commenting on the partnership with Everything Dinosaur, all round good guy JC commented:

“Jurassic Collectables YouTube channel is an on line video archive for all things Jurassic Park and Dinosaurs.  In the early 1990’s there was a palpable fascination with Dinosaurs that was realised through Spielberg’s ground breaking film.  Through a lens of Jurassic-nostalgia, the aim of the channel is to provide a friendly in depth look at all dinosaur products.  This is why Jurassic Collectables is honoured to be partnered with Everything Dinosaur, an on-line store they regularly call upon for the latest in Dinosaur figurines and merchandise.”

Now that’s an accolade for the hard-working team members at Everything Dinosaur, perhaps it’s time for us to take a curtain call!

Explaining the association between JurassicCollectables and Everything Dinosaur, a spokesperson for the company stated:

“Here at Everything Dinosaur, we really enjoy watching the amazing videos that JurassicCollectables produce.  We have been admirers for a long time and it is terrific to see such a dedicated channel.  We wholeheartedly endorse what they do and we recommend, if you have not done so already, subscribing.”

Quick Preview of New for 2016 Papo Models

By |2023-04-12T20:38:45+01:00February 6th, 2016|Dinosaur Fans, Everything Dinosaur videos, Main Page|0 Comments

Papo Dinosaurs Previewed (Plus that Papo Kaprosuchus)

As the excitement builds with dinosaur fans and model collectors awaiting the new for 2016 prehistoric animal models from Papo, we thought we would tease Papo fans a little by publishing a short video which shows all five models.  In this short (1 minute 10 second video), an Everything Dinosaur team member introduces the five new replicas and talks briefly about two of them, the Baryonyx and the Papo Kaprosuchus (prehistoric crocodile).  All the models have that “unique” Papo stamp and they are welcome additions to the Papo prehistoric animal model range.

Everything Dinosaur’s YouTube channel is packed with informative prehistoric animal themed videos, including reviews of many Papo dinosaur models: Everything Dinosaur on YouTube.

Articulated Jaws

All the new Papo 2016 prehistoric animal releases have articulated jaws, however, the Kaprosuchus has an articulated upper jaw, a contrast to the other four dinosaur models who all possess articulated lower jaws.  This short video gives our team member the opportunity to demonstrate this.

Release Dates

Everything Dinosaur is expecting an update from Papo with regards to release dates towards the end of this month, for the time being here is the information available so far:

  • The Papo Baryonyx – quarter 1 (before the end of March)
  • Papo Feathered Velociraptor – quarter 1 (before the end of April)
  • The Papo Running T. rex colour variant – quarter 1 (before the end of April)
  • Papo Kaprosuchus – quarter 2 (June/July 2016 or perhaps earlier)
  • Papo Green Velociraptor – quarter 2 (June/July 2016)

When we have more information on these models we will post the updates onto Everything Dinosaur’s Facebook and other social media pages.

Papo Baryonyx – Tripodal Stance

Everything Dinosaur is aware that there have been a number of images released on other websites that show the Papo Baryonyx in a different pose to the one seen in the official pictures, the new Papo catalogue and in this video.  These images purport to show this replica in a pose with the tail raised, lifted off the ground.  It might be possible to train this model and to have this dinosaur stand in a bipedal stance, but in all the models that Everything Dinosaur team members have viewed, that long tail was resting on the floor.  We would urge all dinosaur fans and collectors to be cautious about this claim from other websites.
