Today, the clocks have gone forward in the UK, this means that this is the official start of British Summer Time (BST). Whilst it might be pouring with rain outside and chilly, better weather and better times are hopefully on the way.
Tomorrow, some of the lockdown restrictions in England are being lifted. Restrictions have been lifted elsewhere within the UK, as the country begins to move cautiously out of the COVID-19 lockdown. We have noticed a small change in our customer’s buying habits over the last week. The Mojo Fun Dinosaur Backpack and Playscape has been selling really well.
The Mojo Fun dinosaur backpack with playscape features two Mojo Fun dinosaurs on the decorative front panel, a T. rex (left) and an Allosaurus (right). Team members at Everything Dinosaur have noticed an upturn in sales of this backpack figure, we suspect that with the COVID-19 restrictions being lifted (in a small way), so more people are travelling and visiting friends and family.
A Sturdy Backpack with Dinosaurs Too!
This sturdy backpack which folds out to reveal a stunning prehistoric playscape is supplied with two dinosaur models. It can be used for carrying bits and bobs and yet, when unzipped the backpack transforms into a prehistoric play scape.
The dinosaur backpack opens up to provide a playscape for dinosaur models. Two dinosaurs are included with the backpack along with a Mojo Fun collector’s catalogue.
An Ideal Travel Companion
The bright and colourful front panel features two Mojo dinosaur models, the Mojo Fun Allosaurus and a fearsome Mojo Fun Tyrannosaurus rex. The panel itself is embossed and raised slightly providing a stylish three-dimensional effect.
The Mojo Fun dinosaur backpack with playscape has a raised and embossed dinosaur -themed design on the front panel.
A spokesperson from Everything Dinosaur commented:
“We do understand how desperate families have been to get out for the day and to visit relatives. The increase in sales of the Mojo Fun dinosaur backpack and playscape has coincided with an easing of restrictions that had been imposed due to COVID-19. Perhaps this is merely a coincidence, but we like to think that for young dinosaur fans they will soon be going on some more dinosaur adventures.”
Whilst stressing the need to stay safe and to obey those restrictions that remain, the spokesperson added that team members at Everything Dinosaur were happy at the thought that this backpack would be used by lots of young people on their travels this year.

Team members at Everything Dinosaur as fans of prehistoric animals themselves don’t mind helping out fellow collectors. For example, we often receive emails from prehistoric animal model enthusiasts asking us to select a particular replica for them. We are happy to take some photographs of the figure that we have chosen and then email the images to the potential buyer for their approval.

Rebor GrabNGo 02 T. rex Model
Recently, we received a request from one of our customers based in Europe to select a Rebor GrabNGo 02 T. rex dinosaur model. These vinyl figures are very popular and the first two versions of the Tyrannosaurus rex (02 and 03) have been retired and production has been discontinued. Our customer was keen to obtain the figure and asked us to check over the seams and the paintwork.

We were happy to take photographs of a Rebor T. rex model in one of our packing rooms. We made sure that we emailed over several images, each showing the dinosaur figure from a different angle. It was just like photographing a fossil specimen for a collection. When documenting a fossil, a number of photographs are taken, each one is carefully labelled identifying the specimen number and the angle of view.

The customer was happy with the figure we had selected for them. This particular Rebor GrabNGo 02 T. rex dinosaur model is now safely stored on our reserve shelf in our warehouse so that when the customer places their order, the figure we chose can be despatched to them.
On Friday (March 19th, 2021), Everything Dinosaur received a telephone call from a worried customer. They had purchased a Beasts of the Mesozoic Zhenyuanlong suni articulated “raptor” figure for their son’s birthday. Unfortunately, we had sent a Beasts of the Mesozoic ceratopsid (Zuniceratops christopheri) instead. Whoops!
The birthday was the following day (Saturday), could Everything Dinosaur sort this out.
The beautiful Zhenyuanlong suni in its packaging (Beasts of the Mesozoic). The customer had ordered a Beasts of the Mesozoic Zhenyuanlong suni, but by mistake we had sent a different dinosaur model.
Customer Service
Our dedicated team don’t often make mistakes, but with dozens of different Beasts of the Mesozoic models in the range, all of them packed into brightly coloured and illustrated packages, then sometimes confusing one model for another does happen. This is usually spotted and corrected during picking, packing and checking prior to despatch. On this occasion, the error was not found.

Once we had been notified of the mix up, our team members quickly got things resolved. With Velociraptor velocity, a Zhenyuanlong suni was located in our warehouse, packed and despatched. It was on its way to the customer in just a couple of hours.
Thank You Everything Dinosaur
The Beasts of the Mesozoic Z. suni articulated figure duly arrived on Saturday. The parcel was delivered in time for the birthday celebrations.
Our customer emailed this morning to say:
“Can I just say thank you so much for sending the dinosaur the Zhenyuanlong suni, on Friday after the mix up. It managed to get here on Saturday in time for my son’s birthday. He loves it, so thank you so very much for helping make his day. So fast and prompt service. Excellent. Thank you again.”
Everything Dinosaur might not make that many mistakes, but when we do it is reassuring to know that we get them resolved quickly.
PNSO will add a model of the fearsome Carcharodontosaurus to their popular range of mid-size prehistoric animal models. The figure named Gamba the Carcharodontosaurus is scheduled to be available in the summer (2021).
The PNSO Gamba the Carcharodontosaurus dinosaur model.
Gamba the Carcharodontosaurus Model
The Carcharodontosaurus is one of several new dinosaur models that PNSO will announce this year. Just like the recently introduced Domingo the Carnotaurus and A-Shu the Qianzhousaurus this replica of a Cretaceous theropod will also have an articulated lower jaw.
The PNSO Gamba the Carcharodontosaurus dinosaur replica has an articulated jaw.
Model Measurements and Projected Scale
The model measures just over 29 cm in length and that beautifully sculpted head is a fraction under 10.5 cm off the ground. The length of the model when the curvature of the tail is accounted for is 33 cm.
Based on the first Carcharodontosaurus species to be described (C. saharicus), the model is in approximately 1:40 scale and is comparable in size to the CollectA Deluxe Carcharodontosaurus model that was introduced in 2014.

The Importance of the Kem Kem Formation
The design team at PNSO have introduced models of Spinosaurus as well as Carcharodontosaurus. These figures are their tribute to the Kem Kem Formation of Morocco. The word “Gamba” is Spanish for “prawn” a reference to Spanish Morocco and a nod towards the ancient estuarine palaeo-environment that these large theropods inhabited.
PNSO pays tribute to some of the theropods of the Kem Kem Formation. The image (above) features Gamba the Carcharodontosaurus and the two versions of Essien the Spinosaurus including the huge 1:35 scale Spinosaurus scale model.
In Stock in the Summer (2021)
A spokesperson from Everything Dinosaur commented that the production run for this model is due to be completed in the spring and that the figure is likely to be in stock around June or July (2021).

The Safari Ltd Mythical Realms armoured T. rex dinosaur model is now in stock at Everything Dinosaur. This is the third of five new dinosaur models to be introduced by Safari Ltd this year (2021), an armoured Triceratops and a model of the theropod Baryonyx have already arrived at Everything Dinosaur.
Safari Ltd have extended their Mythical Realms line by adding an armoured T. rex dinosaur model to this range. This model has an articulated lower jaw.
An Armoured Carnivorous Dinosaur
This cleverly designed dinosaur has armour on the top of its head. The tyrannosaur sports a breast plate, armour on its shoulders and protecting its ribs. There are three large plates of armour over the thigh and additional protection running down to the foot. The tail has a vicious-looking spiky club. A most impressive weapon one that would make an Ankylosaurus jealous.
Model Measurements
The Safari Ltd Mythical Realms armoured T. rex dinosaur model measures approximately 17 cm in length. In reality the model is bigger than this, as the tail is curved round on itself. That armoured head is around 11 cm off the ground.
Our thanks to dinosaur fan and model collector William who sent into Everything Dinosaur a review of the latest Eofauna models, the Triceratops dinosaur models “Cryptic” and “Dominant”.
The Eofauna Scientific Research 1:35 scale Triceratops models do battle (Cryptic and Dominant).
Eofauna’s first two releases of 2021 are of the spectacular Triceratops “Yoshi’s Trike” after it’s discoverer Yoshi Katsura. Unearthed in 2010 now housed within the Museum of the Rockies.
Yoshi’s Trike” (MOR 3027), is a very large Triceratops specimen with nearly four foot long horn cores. Yoshi belongs to yet an undescribed Triceratops species “Ugrosaurus olsoni “, older than either Triceratops horridus or Triceratops prorsus but sharing intermediate characteristics of both*.
In life “Yoshi” was 3 metres at the hip and weighed 9.5 tonnes. It’s these little touches that makes Eofauna so beloved of collectors of accurate figures.
Dominant (Brown) and the Variant Cryptic (Blue)
Both come in polybags with horn protectors with Eofauna stats cards with the same beautiful artwork.
Length: 9.1/4 inches.
Height: 3.1/2 inches.
Scale: 1/35.
Both figures stand rock solid, no toppling issues etc.
A superb, compact modern body recreation of an active true life Triceratops. Both figures are sculpted with open mouths with exact detailing such as teeth and the openings to the nasal passages and the tongues are correctly held within the mouth. With the classical ceratopsian beaks.
Both “Yoshi’s” are posed in a sparring stance as though a younger bull is testing the herd’s old bull for any weaknesses. Never will you see such a pair of Trikes adorned with such an impressive a set of horns perfectly sculpted and in life a true terror for all the local tyrannosaurs and to tangle with 4 metres of keratin covered doom would be for the fool hardy or a veteran rex.
The nasal horns are as equally good on the money a shorter back profile with a longer forward facing straight profile. Nostrils are spot on with a double ridge of skin and now on towards the body’s dermal areas.
From the nostrils a ripple of skin processes radiating outwards in a more scaled mosaic pattern from the lower jaw to the tails end and sturdy powerful legs with fully detailed toes with correct toe numbers on each.
A triple fold of skin highlights a beautifully intelligent eye no old time slow moving rhino analogue here.
A more expertly detailed entire body you shall run your hand over from folds of skin on the entire body to variation of the scaling every detail pinpointed on these two figures.
The neck frill has the same texturing of scales with the leading edge enforced with keratin frill bosses.
Looking at the Colour Variations
DOMINANT:
Nasal horn and upper/ lower tips are of a rich dark chocolate.
Main horns, eye folds and side panels of the mouth are of a dark caramel cream with horn tips black.
Neck frill and horn bosses are the same chocolate as the beak.
The inside of the mouth is a rich dark pink with a dark wash and white teeth top/bottom.
Carefully placed is the dark orange pattern placed at the leading edges of the neck frill.
A dark orange eye with a black pupil.
From lower throat downwards of the backs of front limbs and insides of the hind legs and under belly to the lower part of the tail all painted in dark brown broken up at the front with a rich dark ginger.
This same rich ginger covers the majority of upper torso and tail – excellent choice.
All toenails painted in a natural horn colour.
The Eofauna Scientific Research Triceratops dinosaur model – “Dominant”.
CRYPTIC:
Nasal horn and upper/lower tips are of a rich grey.
Main upper head and eye folds and side are of a dark chocolate with a dark yellow nasal panel with a wash over it.
Horns are of a dark grey fading into a caramel beige at the tips.
The neck frill’s base colour is a dark ginger with turquoise blue admixed through out, the frill bosses are dark brown.
The inside of the mouth is a rich dark pink with a dark wash and white teeth top/bottom.
The lower part of the jaw and throat and underbelly and tail are of a beige-cream with some dark chocolate stripes below the eyes and upper part of the lower jaw again a dark wash has been applied.
A vibrant orange eye with a black pupil.
From the shoulders to the middle of the back and then continuing onwards to the very tip of the tail a very rich brown covers this entire dermal area.
The flanks of the side are of a light ginger/tan.
All four legs are of a pale blue with a greyish dark wash applied, very eye catching this is more of an alpha male in all aspects.
All toenails painted in a natural dark horn colour.
The Eofauna Tricertops sp. model (Cryptic).
At this moment I wish to thank Sue and Mike and their entire team at Everything Dinosaur HQ.
We your customers/friends wish to thank you all for being the company we all respect.
Thank you for being our friends and thank you for being EVERYTHING DINOSAUR.
Team members at Everything Dinosaur thanked William for sending in his review. One point to make about the temporal range of this, as yet to be described Triceratops species,* – the fossils associated with this transitional form have been found in strata older than T. prorsus but younger than Triceratops horridus.
Thank you to William for sending into Everything Dinosaur this review.
William added:
“All Eofauna’s figures are available here from our good friends at EVERYTHING DINOSAUR.”
Our thanks to Cooper, a dinosaur fan who commented on one of our blog posts highlighting one of his favourite dinosaurs, the diminutive Anchiornis (A. huxleyi), the scientific name translating as “Huxley’s near bird”.

Controversial Taxonomy
Many palaeontologists believe that this small dinosaur known from Upper Jurassic deposits associated with the Tiaojishan Formation of Liaoning (north-eastern China), is a basal member of the Paraves clade, a part of the Maniraptora that incorporates the dromaeosaurids, the troodontids and the avialans, those dinosaurs that lead directly to the evolution of modern birds. The exact taxonomic position of this dinosaur remains controversial.

A Fan of Anchiornis
Cooper produced a near perfect copy of one of Everything Dinosaur’s numerous articles on Anchiornis huxleyi. The many fossil specimens associated with this species has led to several different types of scientific research paper being published about Anchiornis, focusing on ontogeny, phylogeny and behavioural aspects of this little theropod.
Everything Dinosaur has written a number of blog posts (at least fourteen), about Anchiornis with our first article being published in 2009.
The PNSO “Luffy” the Anchiornis dinosaur model from the “Age of Dinosaurs” model range. PNSO introduced a series of prehistoric animal models, many of which were based on Chinese fossil discoveries.
A spokesperson for the UK-based specialist mail order company stated:
“Our thanks to Cooper for reaching out to us. We deal with hundreds of enquires every week and we do our best to respond to all those that require a reply. We are glad that Cooper found our work on Anchiornis huxleyi so thought-provoking and informative.”
Anchiornis huxleyi
Named and described shortly before Everything Dinosaur published its first blog post about this dinosaur, the species name honours Thomas Henry Huxley, an early champion of Darwin’s theory of evolution.
The Chinese company PNSO is one of the few mainstream model makers to have made an Anchiornis figure. “Luffy” the Anchiornis (pictured above), is one of a series of 48 models featured in the “Age of Dinosaurs – Toys that Accompany your Growth” model range. It also features in the huge PNSO Age of Dinosaurs box set.

The PNSO Domingo the Carnotaurus dinosaur model has already attracted rave reviews from collectors and fans of dinosaur models. This 5-star rated figure has been described as “a beautiful model, at this moment the most accurate depiction of Carnotaurus” and “an amazing model, both colour and sculpt are stunning” by reviewers on Everything Dinosaur’s website.

Carnotaurus sastrei
This replica of a Late Cretaceous South American abelisaurid has certainly turned heads. The model is exquisitely detailed and so well made that the figure stands perfectly on a flat, level service without the aid of the transparent support stand that is supplied with this dinosaur model.

An Articulated Lower Jaw
Like a lot of the new theropod figures from PNSO, Domingo the Carnotaurus has an articulated lower jaw. The model designers have been careful to depict those famous horns over the eyes (from which this dinosaur’s name is derived, due to their superficial similarity to the horns of a bull). The colouration chosen shows evidence of countershading and the use of black stripes gives this figure real presence. Although the jaw of Carnotaurus is relatively small and delicate, the designers have taken heed of the fossil evidence and equipped their model with a narrow jaw, located in a disproportionately deep skull.

A spokesperson from Everything Dinosaur commented:
“Fans of dinosaur models and figure collectors have really been looking forward to the arrival of the PNSO Domingo the Carnotaurus replica. It had a lot of hyperbole to live up with some collectors stating that PNSO was the most improved model manufacturer on the market. With the first reviews for this new for 2021 figure posted up on our website, it seems that collectors have not been disappointed.”

As we are preparing for the arrival of the latest batch of new for 2021 PNSO prehistoric animal models team members at Everything Dinosaur have been busy completing their Pinacosaurus fact sheet that will be sent out with sales of this armoured dinosaur model.
Bart the PNSO Pinacosaurus Dinosaur Model
The new for 2021 PNSO Bart the Pinacosaurus dinosaur model (lateral view). This model is expected in stock at Everything Dinosaur on March 8th, 2021.
PNSO Pinacosaurus grangeri
Pronounced “pin-ack-oh-sore-us”, this Late Cretaceous armoured dinosaur is one of the best known of all the members of the Ankylosauridae family. Measuring up to five metres in length, this herbivorous, armoured dinosaur is known from numerous specimens representing juveniles and adult animals.
Everything Dinosaur’s Scale Drawing of Pinacosaurus

About a dozen or so PNSO prehistoric animal figures are due to arrive at Everything Dinosaur’s new warehouse on Monday (8th March 2021). Team members are not quite sure when the figures will arrive but they are all on standby to help get them unloaded and on-line as quickly as possible.
All eight of the new for 2021 dinosaur models should be on this shipment plus some of the earlier models that were available at the factory when the container was being made ready for sending to the docks.
PNSO Pinacosaurus Dinosaur Model (Dorsal View)

PNSO Age of Dinosaurs (Prehistoric Animal Figures)
PNSO have rapidly built an excellent reputation for their dinosaur and prehistoric animal models. Everything Dinosaur has worked with this Chinese company for many years and a spokesperson from the UK-based specialist mail order company stated:
“We are expecting A-Shu the Qianzhousaurus, Perez the Machairoceratops, along with the other new horned dinosaur figure A-Qi the Sinoceratops, plus Domingo the Carnotaurus and the new Wilson T. rex figure. In addition, the three new armoured dinosaurs Isaac the Sauropelta, Rosana the Miragaia and of course Bart the Pinacosaurus.”
However, given all the current difficulties with global logistics at the moment, team members will be thoroughly checking over the shipment prior to putting these models on-line.
The spokesperson added:
“There are so many problems with shipping goods at the moment. For example, this container was held at the UK port for several days simply because of the amount of congestion at the dockside. The inspection by UK Customs and Trading Standards did not hold up the shipment for too long, but we know that a number of the cartons will have been opened as part of the checking process so we will be spending time once the delivery has arrived in sorting out the boxes before these models can be put into our on-line shop.”
