Adding Exclusive Videos to our Website

The Everything Dinosaur website is being constantly updated.

Everything Dinosaur team members conduct regular reviews of our website: Everything Dinosaur.

Our website has been praised for its ease of use, visitors find it easy to navigate and it is designed to be very customer friendly. However, we do not intend to rest on our laurels and as we believe in continuous improvement, we are working with our IT specialists and top consultants to provide an even greater customer experience.

One of the things we are testing is the addition of short product videos to our website. We already provide lots of images of the prehistoric animal themed items that we sell, but a video showcasing the product can often help customers to understand the model better. For example, we can show articulated jaws, flexible tails and poseable arms. If a video shows a team member holding the figure, then viewers can instantly get an idea of the model’s size.

Improving an Award-winning Website

This month (January 2022), Everything Dinosaur was awarded the Feefo Platinum Trusted Service award, the highest accolade for customer service. The company’s commitment to helping customers is at the very heart of our business and creating videos of products we sell should help to inform and to educate our website visitors.

Visit the award-winning website: Everything Dinosaur.

We want to provide showcases for the range of prehistoric animal models that we stock. Actual footage of the replica shot by us. Shortly, we will post up a video that looks at the Rebor Smilodon populator Stray Cat in the plain colour variant and we would like your views. The video will be up in a couple of days – we would love to hear what you think of this method of showcasing prehistoric animal models.

Commenting on the Proposed Everything Dinosaur Website Developments

A spokesperson from Everything Dinosaur commented:

“Unlike many companies, which do not physically stock items but rely on them being despatched to customers from China, we actually bring prehistoric animal models into our own warehouse. We have access to the replicas and we can shoot videos using the actual models rather than just relying on images that the manufacturer sends out. We can then give our customers much more visual information about a particular product and produce videos that show the figure from every angle.”

YouTube subscribers will be given the opportunity to have an exclusive first view of the Rebor Smilodon video. Team members at Everything Dinosaur will be asking for feedback and comments prior to the video going live on the Everything Dinosaur website.

The New for 2022 CollectA Triceratops Video Review

By |2024-10-09T22:24:54+01:00December 26th, 2021|Adobe CS5, Dinosaur Fans, Everything Dinosaur News and Updates, Everything Dinosaur Products, Everything Dinosaur videos, Main Page, Photos of Everything Dinosaur Products, Product Reviews|0 Comments

Everything Dinosaur has published regular updates on the company’s YouTube channel keeping dinosaur fans and model collectors informed about the new for 2022 CollectA prehistoric animal models. Our blog post today features the fourth and final video in this sort series. We provide a video review of the new, 1:40 scale CollectA Triceratops horridus model.

Video credit: Everything Dinosaur

The CollectA Deluxe 1:40 Scale Triceratops horridus

Triceratops might be one of the most recognisable of all the dinosaurs, but scientists have learned a great deal about “three-horned face” over the last decade or so and the new for 2022 CollectA Triceratops (T. horridus) dinosaur model reflects some of the latest scientific thinking.

CollectA Deluxe Triceratops horridus

The new for 2022 CollectA Deluxe Triceratops dinosaur model.

The Shape of the Skull and Neck Frill

The CollectA model has been based on “Horridus”, an almost complete Triceratops horridus specimen excavated from Hell Creek Formation deposits exposed in Montana. This superbly preserved Triceratops skeleton has the most complete skull and neck frill of any Triceratops specimen described to date. It is more than 99% complete. The design team at CollectA have been able to use this skeleton to accurately depict the head and the neck frill on their dinosaur model.

Almost a Complete Tail

In total, around 87% of the entire skeleton of a single, individual animal has been recovered, including much of the tail apart from a few posterior caudal vertebrae. This has permitted palaeontologists to reconstruct the tail of this horned dinosaur. Its length, depth and relative proportions in relation to the rest of the body are reproduced in the new CollectA Triceratops figure.

Everything Dinosaur team members have produced a video review of the recently announced new for 2022 CollectA Deluxe Edmontosaurus model. In our brief video, posted up on the Everything Dinosaur YouTube channel, the narrator looks at the model and outlines the research that has led to the features seen on this figure, such as the soft tissue head crest and the prominent hoof on the third finger of the hand.

Video credit: Everything Dinosaur

The Third Video in a Series of Four

The YouTube video, which lasts a little over 12 minutes, introduces the new figure and examines some of the latest research into the Edmontosaurus genus. It is the third video in a series of four. Team members producing a video every few days highlighting the new model announcements made by CollectA throughout the month of November.

CollectA Deluxe 1:40 scale Edmontosaurus dinosaur model

The new for 2022 CollectA Deluxe 1:40 scale Edmontosaurus dinosaur model. CollectA had wanted to introduce a replica of this iconic Late Cretaceous hadrosaur for some time.

Mummified Dinosaurs

The video looks at the remarkable research into one specific dinosaur specimen. A mummified Edmontosaurus specimen nicknamed “Dakota”. The narrator explains how “dinosaur mummies” are formed and looks at the particular circumstances that led to the remarkable preservation of the “Dakota” specimen, the fossilised remains of an Edmontosaurus annectens, that were found in North Dakota, hence the specimen’s nickname.

The fossil specimen “Dakota” is on display at the North Dakota Heritage Centre and State Museum and research into this remarkable fossil is on-going.

The Everything Dinosaur YouTube channel is jam-packed with videos reviewing prehistoric animal figures, updates on the latest fossil finds, book reviews and hints and tips about model collecting. Subscribe to Everything Dinosaur on YouTube: Subscribe to Everything Dinosaur on YouTube.

Edmontosaurus Video – Question of the Day

The design team at CollectA had been wanting to create a model of this Late Cretaceous ornithischian dinosaur for some time. In our video, we look at the reason why the model has been given dark stripes on its flank and tail. We look at the fossil evidence for a soft crest and examine recent photographs that reveal that Edmontosaurus had an enlarged, weight-bearing third finger with a hoof-like nail. The narrator explains why the neck scales on the new for 2022 CollectA Edmontosaurus look very different from the scales seen on the rest of the dinosaur figure and accurate model measurements are provided.

CollectA Deluxe Edmontosaurus

As part of our planned engagement with our customers and fans of the Everything Dinosaur YouTube channel we like to ask a question in our CollectA videos. For example, at the moment, there is a Deluxe Parasaurolophus in the CollectA 1:40 scale range, this is to be joined next year by the 1:40 scale Edmontosaurus, which brings us to this query – what other Late Cretaceous duck-billed dinosaur would you like CollectA to add to their CollectA Deluxe series?

We pass on feedback to our chums at CollectA.

Team members at Everything Dinosaur have created a video review of the second batch of new for 2022 CollectA prehistoric animal models to have been announced. This video, which has been posted up on the company’s YouTube channel highlights the new 1:20 scale CollectA Deluxe Smok wawelski model and the fabulous Permian nautiloid Cooperoceras.

Everything Dinosaur looks at the second batch of new for 2022 CollectA prehistoric animal models to be announced.

Smok wawelski and Cooperoceras texanum

The video review lasts approximately 11 minutes and 50 seconds. The narrator explains some of the challenges that model manufacturers have faced with the global pandemic and praises CollectA for their new prehistoric animal figures. Some of the science behind the creation of the Smok wawelski model is explained. It might be a quadruped and reminiscent of a pseudosuchian (crocodile lineage of the Archosauria), the Everything Dinosaur video explains why the model does not look like a theropod dinosaur.

CollectA Deluxe Smok wawelski.
The new for 2022 CollectA Deluxe Smok wawelski replica reflects the view that this large Late Triassic predator was not a theropod dinosaur.

New CollectA Models

The video examines the diet of this formidable predator and looks at the fossil bones and coprolites associated with Smok, the largest, terrestrial carnivore described to date from the Late Triassic of central Europe. The second model to be featured is the Cooperoceras replica. How this bizarre, spiny nautiloid came to be discovered is explained and the narrator highlights the range of CollectA invertebrate models and discusses how fossils of ammonites and other animals can be used to help date strata.

The new for 2022 CollectA Cooperoceras model continues the company’s fine tradition for creating replicas of important Palaeozoic invertebrates.

Both the CollectA Deluxe 1:20 scale Smok wawelski and the CollectA Cooperoceras models will be in stock at Everything Dinosaur in 2022, although at this stage the video narrator was unable to give a precise date as to when these two excellent figures would be available.

Everything Dinosaur’s Next Video will Feature New CollectA Models

By |2024-08-26T15:54:41+01:00November 7th, 2021|Adobe CS5, Dinosaur Fans, Everything Dinosaur News and Updates, Everything Dinosaur videos, Main Page, Press Releases|1 Comment

Everything Dinosaur in collaboration with their chums at CollectA announced recently the first of the new for 2022 CollectA prehistoric animal figures. The models, a deluxe Paraceratherium, an updated, 1:40 scale deluxe Spinosaurus (S. aegyptiacus) and a stunning deluxe replica of the pterosaur Pteranodon sternbergi have created a great deal of excitement amongst model collectors and dinosaur fans.

More new model announcements will be made in the coming weeks, however, as with all new figures there have been lots of comments and questions raised. In a bid to help our customers and fellow model collectors, team members at Everything Dinosaur will be creating a special YouTube video that explains the science behind the new models and provides more information about the production process.

Pteranodon sternbergi or Geosternbergia sternbergi?

The CollectA deluxe pterosaur has been named as Pteranodon sternbergi. Knowledgeable collectors are aware that the validity of this scientific name has been challenged. In the Everything Dinosaur YouTube video, we will explain some of the issues surrounding the taxonomy of this famous pterosaur genus.

In addition, the video will provide more information on the science behind the updated version of a swimming Spinosaurus, a figure that has a broad, newt-like tail. The new for 2022 Deluxe Paraceratherium replaces an earlier CollectA figure, one that was retired in 2019. The video narrator will explain how the new for 2022 model differs from the original and looks at some of the scientific evidence that suggests Paraceratherium had a small trunk, similar to that of an extant tapir, to which this giant herbivore was distantly related.

A spokesperson from Everything Dinosaur stated that the video should be up on the company’s YouTube channel in a few days.

ITOY Studio Dilophosaurus Test Results

By |2024-08-26T15:38:09+01:00November 4th, 2021|Adobe CS5, Dinosaur Fans, Everything Dinosaur News and Updates, Everything Dinosaur Products, Everything Dinosaur videos, Main Page, Photos of Everything Dinosaur Products, Press Releases|0 Comments

The latest Everything Dinosaur YouTube video updates viewers on the product safety tests the company commissioned on the ITOY Studio Dilophosaurus sinensis dinosaur model. The video also explains why product testing is important and explains the steps Everything Dinosaur takes in order to legally import prehistoric animal figures.

Video credit: Everything Dinosaur

ITOY Studio Dilophosaurus sinensis

The ITOY Studio Dilophosaurus (D. sinensis) figure has had a limited production run. It is going to be more expensive to purchase than dinosaur toys that are predominately aimed at children. Furthermore, it is only going to be available from a specialist retailer such as Everything Dinosaur. These are all arguments to suggest that this is an adult collectable figure and not a toy. As such, it falls outside the UK Toy Safety Regulations 2011 and the EU Toy Safety Directive (2009/48/EC). Product tests are still required and this is why Everything Dinosaur acquired a sample and had this figure tested by Eurofins under the General Product Safety Assessment protocol.

ITOY Studio Dilophosaurus sinensis dinosaur model

ITOY Studio Dilophosaurus sinensis model. A new for 2021 dinosaur model coming into stock very shortly at Everything Dinosaur. Tests results have come in and Everything Dinosaur can sell this model, so long as they abide by the conditions and recommendations made in the product safety assessment.

Coming into Stock at Everything Dinosaur

The video narrator explains that the company responsible for printing the product packaging has incorrectly labelled the box with a CE mark. As far as we at Everything Dinosaur know, this model has not been tested under the EU Toy Safety Directive and no certificate stating conformity has been produced (Declaration of Conformity).

If this item was to be offered for sale with the CE mark clearly visible, this would be illegal. Fortunately, thanks to the independent product testing commissioned by Everything Dinosaur, team members know what they have to do to overcome this problem.

Working with Eurofins and their recommendations, Everything Dinosaur has been able to bring into stock this exciting dinosaur model.

Confirming that this dinosaur collectable was heading for the company’s UK warehouse, a spokesperson from Everything Dinosaur stated:

“The ITOY Studio shipment has been delayed. Many vessels are encountering delays at the moment and there are long waits for ships to be unloaded at ports. However, we hope to have this Dilophosaurus collectable in stock at Everything Dinosaur before Christmas.”

Important ITOY Studio Dilophosaurus Test Report

By |2024-07-27T20:10:38+01:00October 31st, 2021|Adobe CS5, Dinosaur Fans, Everything Dinosaur News and Updates, Everything Dinosaur Products, Everything Dinosaur videos, Main Page, Press Releases|0 Comments

Everything Dinosaur has received the product safety report on the ITOY Studio Dilophosaurus model that was conducted by independent testing company Eurofins. The next video to be posted up on Everything Dinosaur’s YouTube channel will explain what the report says and the consequences for transporting this excellent collectable dinosaur model out of China.

This video will be published in the next few days (November 2021).

General Product Safety Assessment

As a limited number of the ITOY Studio Dilophosaurus sinensis figure have been produced, it will carry a 14+ age restriction and as this model will only be available through a specialist retailer such as Everything Dinosaur, it falls outside the scope of both the UK and European Union Toy Safety Directives. However, it is important to us that product testing should still take place, which is why we sent a sample to the independent, globally respected, testing company Eurofins for analysis under the General Product Safety Assessment (GPSA).

ITOY Studio has developed a formidable reputation for the production of high-quality, beautiful prehistoric animal collectables. The range contains several exciting figures including Tyrannosaurus rex, Ceratosaurus, Velociraptor and a much admired, enormous model of the prehistoric mammal Paraceratherium, which has already been featured on Everything Dinosaur’s YouTube channel.

A spokesperson from Everything Dinosaur commented that they hoped to have their video posted up on the company’s YouTube channel in the next few days (November 2021).

The Everything Dinosaur YouTube channel contains hundreds of videos dedicated to prehistoric animal model collected. In line with the company’s aims to educate and inform, as well as providing product updates, model reviews and information about new figures, many of the videos also contain some information about the prehistoric animals the models represent. For example, in Everything Dinosaur’s previous video about the ITOY Studio Dilophosaurus sinensis information was included about the debate between palaeontologists as to whether D. sinensis is a valid species.

A Wonderful ITOY Studio Dilophosaurus Video

By |2024-10-22T09:27:05+01:00October 20th, 2021|Adobe CS5, Dinosaur Fans, Everything Dinosaur News and Updates, Everything Dinosaur Products, Everything Dinosaur videos, Main Page, Product Reviews|0 Comments

Team members at Everything Dinosaur have produced a helpful video for the Everything Dinosaur YouTube channel that not only showcases the excellent ITOY Studio Dilophosaurus sinensis model, but also discusses the steps required to legally import this figure and to offer it for sale.

Video credit: Everything Dinosaur

The video, which lasts around seven minutes, discusses the work done to get this model independently tested with Eurofins and permits dinosaur model collectors the opportunity to get a really good look at this collectable. Model measurements are provided including a measurement of that impressive neck frill and the narrator discusses the influence of the 1993 film “Jurassic Park” on Dilophosaurus model designs.

Dilophosaurus sinensis and Sinosaurus triassicus

As part of Everything Dinosaur’s commitment to help educate and inform, the video also addresses the thorny question as to whether Dilophosaurus sinensis is a valid dinosaur taxon. Similarities between the fossil material assigned to D. sinensis and fossils associated with the theropod Sinosaurus (S. triassicus) have been recorded. Some scientists including the eminent and highly influential Dong Zhiming have proposed that Dilophosaurus sinensis should be regarded as a junior synonym of Sinosaurus – our short video reviews the current position regarding these two taxa and shows line drawings and photographs of some of the fossils.

A Different Species or an Entirely Different Genus

The video looks at some of the fossil evidence that suggests that Dilophosaurus sinensis could be a different species of Sinosaurus, a sister taxon to Sinosaurus triassicus or perhaps this enigmatic Early Jurassic theropod could have been an entirely different genus.

Dino Hazard Irritator challengeri Test Results

By |2024-05-27T15:03:19+01:00July 19th, 2021|Adobe CS5, Dinosaur Fans, Everything Dinosaur News and Updates, Everything Dinosaur videos, Main Page, Press Releases|0 Comments

The test report commissioned by Everything Dinosaur into the Dino Hazard Irritator challengeri dinosaur model has been received. Before a dinosaur model can be legally sold, an importer such as Everything Dinosaur has to ensure that it meets defined safety standards.

Team members have produced a short video and posted it up on the company’s YouTube channel explaining why product safety tests are conducted and revealing the result of the report by Eurofins into the Dino Hazard Irritator challengeri 1:20 scale figure.

The test results are in! In Everything Dinosaur’s short YouTube video (duration 5:12), we explain why product safety tests are carried out and reveal the results of the independent product safety tests carried out by Eurofins on the YvY Figures Dino Hazard Irritator challengeri dinosaur model.

The Importance of Product Safety

Product safety is very important. Customer safety is paramount and if Everything Dinosaur is going to bring a new model into stock, it is vital to make sure that it is safe and fit for purpose. Indeed, as a company that sources products from all over the world, we are obliged under international law to undertake certain actions to ensure that what we purchase and intend to “place on the market” is safe.

The Everything Dinosaur website: Dinosaur Models and Toys.

As such, when offered the opportunity to bring in the Dino Hazard Irritator challengeri figure, one of the first things we must do is to establish what product safety tests, if any, have been undertaken. Hence our decision to get a sample sent into us and to ask the independent testing company Eurofins to conduct tests under the General Product Safety Directive.

Test Results

The Regulatory Manager at Eurofins responsible for the tests concluded:

“I am of the opinion that the product was reasonably safe under normal conditions of use and is fit for its intended purpose”

However…

In order for this dinosaur model to receive a favourable report, Everything Dinosaur team members had to make changes to the product packaging, the labelling and the customer information that is provided with this figure. As far as we are aware, no other product safety tests have been carried out and as such, Everything Dinosaur is the only company to have commissioned tests and taken sensible steps to modify the product offering to help it to get a favourable report from an independent testing company.

Successful Negotiations

After concluding successful negotiations with the manufacturer the Irritator challengeri 1:20 scale dinosaur model is expected in stock at Everything Dinosaur in the late summer of 2021.
