Everything Dinosaur in collaboration with their chums at CollectA announced recently the first of the new for 2022 CollectA prehistoric animal figures. The models, a deluxe Paraceratherium, an updated, 1:40 scale deluxe Spinosaurus (S. aegyptiacus) and a stunning deluxe replica of the pterosaur Pteranodon sternbergi have created a great deal of excitement amongst model collectors and dinosaur fans.

More new model announcements will be made in the coming weeks, however, as with all new figures there have been lots of comments and questions raised. In a bid to help our customers and fellow model collectors, team members at Everything Dinosaur will be creating a special YouTube video that explains the science behind the new models and provides more information about the production process.

Pteranodon sternbergi or Geosternbergia sternbergi?

The CollectA deluxe pterosaur has been named as Pteranodon sternbergi. Knowledgeable collectors are aware that the validity of this scientific name has been challenged. In the Everything Dinosaur YouTube video, we will explain some of the issues surrounding the taxonomy of this famous pterosaur genus.

In addition, the video will provide more information on the science behind the updated version of a swimming Spinosaurus, a figure that has a broad, newt-like tail. The new for 2022 Deluxe Paraceratherium replaces an earlier CollectA figure, one that was retired in 2019. The video narrator will explain how the new for 2022 model differs from the original and looks at some of the scientific evidence that suggests Paraceratherium had a small trunk, similar to that of an extant tapir, to which this giant herbivore was distantly related.

A spokesperson from Everything Dinosaur stated that the video should be up on the company’s YouTube channel in a few days.

ITOY Studio Dilophosaurus Test Results

By |2022-10-25T09:42:02+01:00November 4th, 2021|Adobe CS5, Dinosaur Fans, Everything Dinosaur News and Updates, Everything Dinosaur Products, Everything Dinosaur videos, Main Page, Photos of Everything Dinosaur Products, Press Releases|0 Comments

The latest Everything Dinosaur YouTube video updates viewers on the product safety tests the company commissioned on the ITOY Studio Dilophosaurus sinensis dinosaur model. The video also explains why product testing is important and explains the steps Everything Dinosaur takes in order to legally import prehistoric animal figures.

The results of the independent product tests conducted by Eurofins on the ITOY Studio Dilophosaurus sinensis dinosaur model are announced in the latest Everything Dinosaur YouTube video.

ITOY Studio Dilophosaurus sinensis

The ITOY Studio Dilophosaurus (D. sinensis) figure has had a limited production run. It is going to be more expensive to purchase than dinosaur toys that are predominately aimed at children. Furthermore, it is only going to be available from a specialist retailer such as Everything Dinosaur. These are all arguments to suggest that this is an adult collectable figure and not a toy. As such, it falls outside the UK Toy Safety Regulations 2011 and the EU Toy Safety Directive (2009/48/EC). Product tests are still required and this is why Everything Dinosaur acquired a sample and had this figure tested by Eurofins under the General Product Safety Assessment protocol.

ITOY Studio Dilophosaurus sinensis model. A new for 2021 dinosaur model coming into stock very shortly at Everything Dinosaur. Tests results have come in and Everything Dinosaur can sell this model, so long as they abide by the conditions and recommendations made in the product safety assessment.

Coming into Stock at Everything Dinosaur

The video narrator explains that the company responsible for printing the product packaging has incorrectly labelled the box with a CE mark. As far as we at Everything Dinosaur know, this model has not been tested under the EU Toy Safety Directive and no certificate stating conformity has been produced (Declaration of Conformity).

If this item was to be offered for sale with the CE mark clearly visible, this would be illegal. Fortunately, thanks to the independent product testing commissioned by Everything Dinosaur, team members know what they have to do to overcome this problem.

Working with Eurofins and their recommendations, Everything Dinosaur has been able to bring into stock this exciting dinosaur model.

Confirming that this dinosaur collectable was heading for the company’s UK warehouse, a spokesperson from Everything Dinosaur stated:

“The ITOY Studio shipment has been delayed. Many vessels are encountering delays at the moment and there are long waits for ships to be unloaded at ports. However, we hope to have this Dilophosaurus collectable in stock at Everything Dinosaur before Christmas.”

Important ITOY Studio Dilophosaurus Test Report

By |2024-05-09T08:48:51+01:00October 31st, 2021|Adobe CS5, Dinosaur Fans, Everything Dinosaur News and Updates, Everything Dinosaur Products, Everything Dinosaur videos, Main Page, Press Releases|0 Comments

Everything Dinosaur has received the product safety report on the ITOY Studio Dilophosaurus model that was conducted by independent testing company Eurofins. The next video to be posted up on Everything Dinosaur’s YouTube channel will explain what the report says and the consequences for transporting this excellent collectable dinosaur model out of China.

This video will be published in the next few days (November 2021).

ITOY Studio Dilophosaurus product testing video
The next Everything Dinosaur YouTube video will feature the ITOY Studio Dilophosaurus sinensis figure and explain the independent product test results.

General Product Safety Assessment

As a limited number of the ITOY Studio Dilophosaurus sinensis figure have been produced, it will carry a 14+ age restriction and as this model will only be available through a specialist retailer such as Everything Dinosaur, it falls outside the scope of both the UK and European Union Toy Safety Directives. However, it is important to us that product testing should still take place, which is why we sent a sample to the independent, globally respected, testing company Eurofins for analysis under the General Product Safety Assessment (GPSA).

ITOY Studio Prehistoric Animal Models

ITOY Studio has developed a formidable reputation for the production of high-quality, beautiful prehistoric animal collectables. The range contains several exciting figures including Tyrannosaurus rex, Ceratosaurus, Velociraptor and a much admired, enormous model of the prehistoric mammal Paraceratherium, which has already been featured on Everything Dinosaur’s YouTube channel.

The next Everything Dinosaur YouTube video will explain what the General Product Safety Assessment says and we will outline the steps required in order to permit us to bring this collectable figure into stock.

A spokesperson from Everything Dinosaur commented that they hoped to have their video posted up on the company’s YouTube channel in the next few days (November 2021).

The Everything Dinosaur YouTube channel contains hundreds of videos dedicated to prehistoric animal model collected. In line with the company’s aims to educate and inform, as well as providing product updates, model reviews and information about new figures, many of the videos also contain some information about the prehistoric animals the models represent. For example, in Everything Dinosaur’s previous video about the ITOY Studio Dilophosaurus sinensis information was included about the debate between palaeontologists as to whether D. sinensis is a valid species.

A Wonderful ITOY Studio Dilophosaurus Video

By |2024-05-11T21:47:01+01:00October 20th, 2021|Adobe CS5, Dinosaur Fans, Everything Dinosaur News and Updates, Everything Dinosaur Products, Everything Dinosaur videos, Main Page, Product Reviews|0 Comments

Team members at Everything Dinosaur have produced a helpful video for the Everything Dinosaur YouTube channel that not only showcases the excellent ITOY Studio Dilophosaurus sinensis model, but also discusses the steps required to legally import this figure and to offer it for sale.

https://www.youtube.com/embed/B19KUh9I5K0

The video, which lasts around seven minutes, discusses the work done to get this model independently tested with Eurofins and permits dinosaur model collectors the opportunity to get a really good look at this collectable. Model measurements are provided including a measurement of that impressive neck frill and the narrator discusses the influence of the 1993 film “Jurassic Park” on Dilophosaurus model designs.

Dilophosaurus sinensis and Sinosaurus triassicus

As part of Everything Dinosaur’s commitment to help educate and inform, the video also addresses the thorny question as to whether Dilophosaurus sinensis is a valid dinosaur taxon. Similarities between the fossil material assigned to D. sinensis and fossils associated with the theropod Sinosaurus (S. triassicus) have been recorded. Some scientists including the eminent and highly influential Dong Zhiming have proposed that Dilophosaurus sinensis should be regarded as a junior synonym of Sinosaurus – our short video reviews the current position regarding these two taxa and shows line drawings and photographs of some of the fossils.

A Different Species or an Entirely Different Genus

The video looks at some of the fossil evidence that suggests that Dilophosaurus sinensis could be a different species of Sinosaurus, a sister taxon to Sinosaurus triassicus or perhaps this enigmatic Early Jurassic theropod could have been an entirely different genus.

Dino Hazard Irritator challengeri Test Results

By |2022-10-26T14:50:44+01:00July 19th, 2021|Adobe CS5, Dinosaur Fans, Everything Dinosaur News and Updates, Everything Dinosaur videos, Main Page, Press Releases|0 Comments

The test report commissioned by Everything Dinosaur into the Dino Hazard Irritator challengeri dinosaur model has been received. Before a dinosaur model can be legally sold, an importer such as Everything Dinosaur has to ensure that it meets defined safety standards.

Team members have produced a short video and posted it up on the company’s YouTube channel explaining why product safety tests are conducted and revealing the result of the report by Eurofins into the Dino Hazard Irritator challengeri 1:20 scale figure.

The test results are in! In Everything Dinosaur’s short YouTube video (duration 5:12), we explain why product safety tests are carried out and reveal the results of the independent product safety tests carried out by Eurofins on the YvY Figures Dino Hazard Irritator challengeri dinosaur model.

The Importance of Product Safety

Product safety is very important. Customer safety is paramount and if Everything Dinosaur is going to bring a new model into stock, it is vital to make sure that it is safe and fit for purpose. Indeed, as a company that sources products from all over the world, we are obliged under international law to undertake certain actions to ensure that what we purchase and intend to “place on the market” is safe.

Dino Hazard Irritator challengeri dinosaur model.
The Dino Hazard Irritator challengeri dinosaur model. Everything Dinosaur commissioned independent product safety tests prior to entering into negotiations to bring this model into the UK.

As such, when offered the opportunity to bring in the Dino Hazard Irritator challengeri figure, one of the first things we must do is to establish what product safety tests, if any, have been undertaken. Hence our decision to get a sample sent into us and to ask the independent testing company Eurofins to conduct tests under the General Product Safety Directive.

Test Results

The Regulatory Manager at Eurofins responsible for the tests concluded:

“I am of the opinion that the product was reasonably safe under normal conditions of use and is fit for its intended purpose”

However…

In order for this dinosaur model to receive a favourable report, Everything Dinosaur team members had to make changes to the product packaging, the labelling and the customer information that is provided with this figure. As far as we are aware, no other product safety tests have been carried out and as such, Everything Dinosaur is the only company to have commissioned tests and taken sensible steps to modify the product offering to help it to get a favourable report from an independent testing company.

After negotiating with the manufacturer, Everything Dinosaur plans to introduce this model in the late summer of 2021.

Successful Negotiations

After concluding successful negotiations with the manufacturer the Irritator challengeri 1:20 scale dinosaur model is expected in stock at Everything Dinosaur in the late summer of 2021.

The results of the independent tests undertaken by Eurofins on the YvY Figures Dino Hazard 1:20 scale Irritator challengeri dinosaur model have arrived. In Everything Dinosaur’s next YouTube video, we will announce the results and explain a little more about the steps required in order to allow Everything Dinosaur to bring this replica into the company’s UK warehouse.

Independent Product Tests

Once a sample of the Dino Hazard Irritator challengeri figure had been received, Everything Dinosaur set about commissioning independent product safety tests under the General Product Safety Directive. Eurofins was the testing company that Everything Dinosaur sent this dinosaur model to so that an assessment could be carried out.

Eurofins is one of the largest and most respected testing companies in the world. It employs over 50,000 staff across a network of more than 900 independent companies and it has more than 800 laboratories located in 50 countries. The Eurofins Group is committed to providing the highest quality services, accurate results and expert advice from its highly qualified staff. The reliability and accuracy of their analytical services help customers like Everything Dinosaur make decisions about which dinosaur models to bring into the UK and then sell around the world.

Everything Dinosaur team members have posted up a short video reviewing the new Dino Hazard Irritator challengeri dinosaur model and explaining what needs to be done before this figure can be sold legitimately. The first part of the video, which has been posted up on the company’s YouTube channel, looks at the model in more detail and discusses the accessories supplied with it. In the second part of the video, the narrator outlines the product testing required in order to place a dinosaur model on the market.

In Everything Dinosaur’s brief YouTube video (duration 4:48), the narrator discusses the model and then explains the steps required in order to legally sell this figure.

Irritator challengeri

At over 30 centimetres in length, this is an impressive replica of a South American spinosaurid dinosaur. The model has an articulated lower jaw and it is supplied with a lungfish figure and an optional display base. This model, marketed under the brand Dino Hazard stands very well on its own without the use of the base, but if model collectors prefer, the figure can be displayed on its base, although Everything Dinosaur recommends that the model is glued permanently in place when this base is used.

If the model is displayed on its optional display base then Everything Dinosaur recommends that this figure is glued to the base. Top – model displayed on its base and bottom, model stands perfectly well when displayed off its base.

Product Safety Tests

This model has to pass independent product safety tests (submitted for testing in June 2021). A spokesperson from Everything Dinosaur stated that a decision as to whether or not to stock this figure would be made by team members once the test report had been received. It was then a question of entering into negotiations with the manufacturer in order to secure this model prior to taking the models from the factory in China.

New Rebor G-2016 Embryos YouTube Review

We at Everything Dinosaur, might know our dinosaur and prehistoric animal models, but every once in a while we come across a replica that simply takes our breath away. Rebor have produced three astonishing figures depicting science fantasy embryos entombed in resin.

These replicas entitled the Rebor Oddities Specimen: G-2016 Embryos are beautifully engineered and we wanted to mark the release of these limited edition figures by producing a short YouTube video tribute.

https://youtu.be/uwckPS-wH_M
Everything Dinosaur showcases the Rebor Oddities Specimen G-2016 embryo figures, namely Resinite (amber block), Bakelite (red block) and the clear Epoxide figure.

The Rebor Oddities Specimen: G-2016 Embryo in Bakelite is a brilliant, science-fiction/fantasy model from Rebor. In our video we praise the model’s innovative design.

Limited Edition Figures

Only 500 of each type of model has been made and stocks of these fascinating figures are already low.

A spokesperson from Everything Dinosaur commented:

“Whilst we do not pretend to understand all the cultural references, we have had a lot of orders from Asia for these stunning figures. We might be more used to examining a T. rex foetus as per a previous Rebor model introduction, but we have been bowled over by these beautifully figures. They certainly are very different.”

How Would You Expand the Papo Model Range? That’s a Great Question

By |2024-05-10T11:38:10+01:00March 17th, 2021|Adobe CS5, Dinosaur Fans, Everything Dinosaur News and Updates, Everything Dinosaur videos, Main Page, Photos of Everything Dinosaur Products, Press Releases|1 Comment

Fans of the Papo prehistoric animal model range “Les Dinosaures”, will know that in 2021 there will be just two new figures added to this range. Like many model manufacturers the production plans of our chums at Papo have been affected by the global COVID-19 pandemic.

Papo are always keen to hear from model collectors, they know how enthusiastic and passionate you are about Papo, so Everything Dinosaur has created a short, ten minute video that explores how Papo could expand its prehistoric animal model range. Once we have discussed our suggestions, it’s over to you! Your chance to comment on the type of figures you want to see added to the Papo range!

https://youtu.be/r0gWFjqAwMU

Suggestions for Papo Figures

Everything Dinosaur has a close working relationship with Papo, in our short YouTube video (the video is 10 minutes long), we reveal what product options we have suggested to the French manufacturer. For example, we suggested that Papo might want to reintroduce a long retired figure such as the iconic green, standing T. rex replica.

Could Papo reintroduce their classic green, standing T. rex
Could Papo reintroduce a classic model such as the original green, standing T. rex figure (product code 55001)?

A Pteranodon Colour Variant?

In addition, Everything Dinosaur has proposed that Papo could introduce a colour variant of an existing figure such as the Papo Pteranodon or the Papo Triceratops. We note that a number of Papo fans have suggested other colour variants such as a new version of the huge Papo Brachiosaurus figure.

Could Papo introduce a Pteranodon colour variant?
Perhaps Papo could add a colour variant of the Papo Pteranodon figure. The new colour variant could be the male whilst the original figure could be the female.

A Juvenile Giganotosaurus?

One further suggestion Everything Dinosaur has made is to introduce a juvenile Giganotosaurus dinosaur model as a companion piece to the 2020 Papo Giganotosaurus figure.

The 2020 Giganotosaurus model attracted a lot of attention due to its posture, a smaller, juvenile figure could have a more scientifically accurate pose.

Everything Dinosaur suggests that Papo should introduce a juvenile Giganotosaurus model
Should Papo introduce a juvenile Giganotosaurus to accompany the adult model that was introduced in 2020?

A spokesperson from Everything Dinosaur commented:

“Papo are aware how passionate fans of their figures are when it comes to new replicas. The number of new models that can be introduced in 2021 has been limited due to the consequences of COVID-19. Our new YouTube video gives dinosaur model fans the opportunity to learn more about the Papo range and to propose novel ways in which this range can be expanded.”
