Everything Dinosaur can confirm that they will be stocking the recently announced PNSO Donald the Saurophaganax dinosaur model. The shipment of PNSO dinosaur models is already on the water and expected to arrive in a few weeks.

PNSO Donald the Saurophaganax

Saurophaganax (S. maximus) is known from fossils from the famous Morrison Formation of the United States. Numerous theropods have been named based on Morrison Formation fossils. However, Saurophaganax is regarded as the largest known to science. Some palaeontologists have estimated that this theropod reached lengths in excess of thirteen metres.

Fossils ascribed to allosauroids are found throughout most of the strata of the Morrison Formation. It remains uncertain as to whether Saurophaganax is a distinct genus, or just an example of a particularly robust and large Allosaurus. The taxonomic relationship between S. maximus and Allosaurus spp. remains controversial.

An Articulated Jaw and Lips

In recognition of recent scientific papers, the PNSO Donald the Saurophaganax model has been given lips. This beautiful theropod figure also has an articulated lower jaw.

PNSO Saurophaganax Model Measurements

This new PNSO figure measures 30 cm in length and the models stands 10.8 cm tall. PNSO have taken care to ensure that their Saurophaganax figure is bigger than both their Torvosaurus and Allosaurus models. Paul the Allosaurus 25 cm long and Connor the Torvosaurus measures 29.5 cm long. This is in keeping with current scientific thinking with regards to the size of these three theropods.

Praising the PNSO Donald the Saurophaganax Figure

A spokesperson from Everything Dinosaur praised the new Saurophaganax figure and commented:

“Collectors have the opportunity to display three famous Morrison Formation theropods together. The Allosaurus, Torvosaurus and the new PNSO Saurophaganax are roughly in the same scale. This will permit dinosaur fans to display dinosaur models that reflect the known fossil record of this famous geological formation.”

The PNSO Donald the Saurophaganax model is supplied with a number of accessories. It comes complete with a transparent support stand, an A3 Sci-Art poster and a 64-page, full-colour booklet.

Everything Dinosaur has provided details of the Safari Ltd model retirements for 2023. The list includes dinosaurs and prehistoric mammals. Ten prehistoric animal figures that Everything Dinosaur stocks are being withdrawn. Items previously retired such as the Wild Safari Edmontosaurus and the Vagaceratops are now running low, as inventory in the distribution chain is used up.

The image (above) shows the models that are being retired. The Vagaceratops and the Wild Safari Edmontosaurus are also officially withdrawn, Everything Dinosaur still has these models available. However, we will not be able to replenish stock. Once current stock has sold out, that will be that.

The baby Pteranodon figure (S301329) and the tube of baby dinosaur models (S90075) are also being retired by Safari Ltd.

A spokesperson from Everything Dinosaur confirmed, that at present there were no plans for Safari Ltd to retire any other prehistoric animal figures for 2023/4.

The spokesperson added:

“We are sorry to see these models being withdrawn. However, we will retain our current pricing policy and not seek to exploit commercially any model becoming rarer. We do like to alert collectors to model retirements, by doing this, collectors have a chance to acquire the model without having to pay excessive prices.”

The new for late 2023 PNSO Dayong the Yangchuanosaurus, a replica of a metriacanthosaurid theropod is coming into stock at Everything Dinosaur. The Yangchuanosaurus figure will be in stock in a few weeks. The Yangchuanosaurus is the latest theropod to be announced in PNSO’s mid-size model range.

PNSO Dayong the Yangchuanosaurus

Named and described in 1978 (Dong et al), Yangchuanosaurus was a member of the Allosauroidea superfamily. It was an apex predator, with some palaeontologists estimating that this dinosaur reached lengths in excess of ten metres. The new for 2023 Yangchuanosaurus is more sensibly proportioned. The model measures 22.5 cm in length.

Theropod Dinosaur Model with an Articulated Jaw

PNSO has already introduced models of Yangchuanosaurus. There is a small figure of Yangchuanosaurus, and it features in a 1:35 scale diorama with the stegosaur Chungkingosaurus. This is the first Yangchuanosaurus figure made by PNSO that has an articulated lower jaw.

The model is supplied with an A3-sized Sci-Art poster along with a fully illustrated, 64-page colour booklet. A QR code on the packaging links to a product video. Dayong the Yangchuanosaurus is also supplied with a transparent support stand.

A spokesperson from Everything Dinosaur commented that the Albertosaurus, Megalosaurus and Gorgosaurus PNSO figures were due into stock in a few days. The Yangchuanosaurus would be following in a second shipment along with another new PNSO figure.
