Last Chance to Acquire a Styracosaurus Model

The Beasts of the Mesozoic Styracosaurus articulated dinosaur model is being retired. This popular figure is going out of production. One of the first ceratopsian figures introduced, the Styracosaurus is being retired after one last production run.

The Beasts of the Mesozoic Styracosaurus

Measuring an impressive 30.5 cm in length, the Styracosaurus figure has proved to be immensely popular with collectors. The striking colour scheme made this articulated model an instant hit. The hand-painted model is in 1:18 scale. In addition, it had twenty points of articulation.

A spokesperson from Everything Dinosaur commented that just five hundred Styracosaurus models had been produced. It was probably due to production pressures, with so many new models coming out that the Styracosaurus had been retired.

The spokesperson added:

“The Beasts of the Mesozoic Styracosaurus figure is absolutely stunning. We shall be sad when it is finally withdrawn and out of production.”

Styracosaurus albertensis

Styracosaurus (Styracosaurus albertensis) is an iconic ceratopsian. It is a member of the centrosaurine subfamily of horned dinosaurs. It was named and scientifically described in 1913 (Lawrence Lambe). Known from the Dinosaur Provincial Park Formation of Alberta, Styracosaurus was a large dinosaur, perhaps as much as 6 metres long. The holotype specimen is on display at the Canadian Museum of Nature (Ottawa, Ontario).

Everything Dinosaur Addresses Students on Popular Degree Course

A team member from Everything Dinosaur was invited to address final year digital marketing students at Manchester Metropolitan University. Mike of Everything Dinosaur had received some training from the University, taking part in a “Developing Innovation” programme. As a result of his connections to the University he was invited to present to the digital marketing students. The students are looking at Everything Dinosaur’s digital footprint and Google Analytics as part of their course. The aim is to provide them with a real business to study.

Everything Dinosaur Fielding Questions

Working with their teacher, Alexandra Severn (Senior Lecturer in Digital Marketing Communications and Programme Leader), the students had compiled an extensive list of questions. The questions ranged from asking about our website, customer profiling and social media activities to enquiring about our favourite fossils. Fortunately, a fossil had been brought along. It is not very often a Woolly Rhinoceros dorsal vertebra takes part in a business school lecture.

One student asked:

“What was our favourite dinosaur?”

Ryan enquired:

“How sustainable is your operation? Do you consider the environmental impact at each stage of your operation?”

Amin wanted to know how the dinosaur models are made and are they made in a safe environment?

We hope the answers we provided were informative and helped the students to gain a better understanding of the business world. It was also a pleasure to be able to discuss some of the ways in which Everything Dinosaur has reduced its carbon footprint. In addition, our use of recycled cardboard and the replacement of compostable starch chips rather than using foam were highlighted.

“It is nice to be able to give something back to the next generation. They had compiled a challenging set of questions, and I did my best to answer them all. It was a pretty intense session, but I got the chance to talk to some of the students afterwards and they wanted to have their photograph taken with the Woolly Rhino fossil.”

Haolonggood Ouranosaurus Model with Thumb Spike – An Exclusive Look

We can confirm that the Haolonggood Ouranosaurus model in stock has the anatomically correct manus (hand). When this figure was first produced, the hand on the model did not reflect the known fossil record. The Haolonggood design team were swift to respond and introduced a more accurate version shortly afterwards.

A More Accurate Haolonggood Ouranosaurus Model

The picture (above) shows a close-up view of the manus of WuJu the green Ouranosaurus figure. The first digit, the thumb (pollex) has a stubby spike. Digits two, three and four were more robust, and were adapted for weight bearing. Please note, in the image above digit four is not visible. Digit five was reduced and had limited sideways movement. It was not prehensile and probably not used for grasping.

The Ouranosaurus Holotype and the Paratype

Ouranosaurus was named and described in 1976 (Ouranosaurus nigeriensis) by the French palaeontologist Phillipe Taquet. Fossil specimens began to be put on display prior to the formal scientific description. This has led to some confusion over the identity of the fossil material. For example, it is now thought that the nearly complete specimen on display at the Natural History Museum of Venice represents the paratype. As a result of this confusion, some of the autapomorphies associated with the holotype that led to the erection of this genus has been challenged.

For example, the tail was described as relatively short. However, this may not be a unique characteristic and the absence of a complete set of caudal vertebrae may have led to this feature being over emphasised.

The New PNSO Donald the Saurophaganax Dinosaur Model

Everything Dinosaur can confirm that they will be stocking the recently announced PNSO Donald the Saurophaganax dinosaur model. The shipment of PNSO dinosaur models is already on the water and expected to arrive in a few weeks.

PNSO Donald the Saurophaganax

Saurophaganax (S. maximus) is known from fossils from the famous Morrison Formation of the United States. Numerous theropods have been named based on Morrison Formation fossils. However, Saurophaganax is regarded as the largest known to science. Some palaeontologists have estimated that this theropod reached lengths in excess of thirteen metres.

Fossils ascribed to allosauroids are found throughout most of the strata of the Morrison Formation. It remains uncertain as to whether Saurophaganax is a distinct genus, or just an example of a particularly robust and large Allosaurus. The taxonomic relationship between S. maximus and Allosaurus spp. remains controversial.

An Articulated Jaw and Lips

In recognition of recent scientific papers, the PNSO Donald the Saurophaganax model has been given lips. This beautiful theropod figure also has an articulated lower jaw.

PNSO Saurophaganax Model Measurements

This new PNSO figure measures 30 cm in length and the models stands 10.8 cm tall. PNSO have taken care to ensure that their Saurophaganax figure is bigger than both their Torvosaurus and Allosaurus models. Paul the Allosaurus 25 cm long and Connor the Torvosaurus measures 29.5 cm long. This is in keeping with current scientific thinking with regards to the size of these three theropods.

The New Rebor “Lonesome George”

The Rebor “Lonesome George” giant tortoise replica is now in stock at Everything Dinosaur. Part of the Rebor GrabNGo range, the model is a 1:6 scale replica of a famous resident of Pinta Island.

Rebor “Lonesome George”

The detailed giant tortoise figure honours “Lonesome George” the last Pinta Island tortoise known to science. This tortoise died on June 24th, 2012. The subspecies Chelonoidis niger abingdonii became extinct. It is thought that “Lonesome George” was over a hundred years old when he died.

Rebor Replica Pays Tribute

“Lonesome George” has become a symbol for conservation. The preserved taxidermy of this tortoise is on display at the Fausto Llerena Breeding Centre in the Galapagos National Park headquarters on the island of Santa Cruz. The facility was established to help protect the remaining indigenous tortoise populations of the Galapagos Islands.

The Nanmu Studio Jurassic Series Mosasaurus Dragon Spirit 1:35 scale marine reptile model is in stock. This limited-edition and stunning prehistoric animal collectable is available from Everything Dinosaur. One small production run has been scheduled. Nanmu Studio have no plans to make any more.

The figure is huge. On its beautiful and detailed display base the Mosasaurus stands over half a metre tall.

Exclusive News of Safari Ltd Model Retirements (2023)

Everything Dinosaur has provided details of the Safari Ltd model retirements for 2023. The list includes dinosaurs and prehistoric mammals. Ten prehistoric animal figures that Everything Dinosaur stocks are being withdrawn. Items previously retired such as the Wild Safari Edmontosaurus and the Vagaceratops are now running low, as inventory in the distribution chain is used up.

The image (above) shows the models that are being retired. The Vagaceratops and the Wild Safari Edmontosaurus are also officially withdrawn, Everything Dinosaur still has these models available. However, we will not be able to replenish stock. Once current stock has sold out, that will be that.

The baby Pteranodon figure (S301329) and the tube of baby dinosaur models (S90075) are also being retired by Safari Ltd.

A spokesperson from Everything Dinosaur confirmed, that at present there were no plans for Safari Ltd to retire any other prehistoric animal figures for 2023/4.

The spokesperson added:

“We are sorry to see these models being withdrawn. However, we will retain our current pricing policy and not seek to exploit commercially any model becoming rarer. We do like to alert collectors to model retirements, by doing this, collectors have a chance to acquire the model without having to pay excessive prices.”

Haolonggood Model Boxes and New Dinosaur Models

After receiving several enquires from customers, Everything Dinosaur can confirm that all Haolonggood figures will be supplied in Haolonggood model boxes. We have been notified that some suppliers have been selling Haolonggood dinosaurs unboxed. The figures are unpacked and removed from their packaging prior to be shipped. Sending a figure in this way, might reduce postage costs, although it increases the chances of the model being damaged in transit.

We like to give our customers the opportunity of being the first to open a box and to see the figure for themselves. It is all about the purchasing experience. Everything Dinosaur will send out Haolonggood models in their original product packaging.

The Haolonggood model boxes incorporate superb model photography. We know that many customers purchase our models as they want a pristine figure including the packaging. Some model boxes are never opened, they are stored in a boxed, mint condition by the collector.
