Rebor Killer Queen T. rex Models Imminent

Rebor Killer Queen T. rex Models Imminent

The eagerly awaited Rebor Killer Queen Tyrannosaurus rex models are due to arrive at Everything Dinosaur in the next few days.  Both versions of the Rebor T. rex are coming into stock, the brown/black-coloured model (plain) and the predominately green-coloured replica (jungle).  This is the second Rebor T. rex pairing after the successful launch of “Vanilla Ice” in the autumn of 2018.

A Pair of “Killer Queens”

The Rebor Killer Queen models have articulated lower jaws, moveable forelimbs and a flexible tail so the tail can be posed in various positions.  When these figures arrive, Everything Dinosaur team members will be busying themselves by contacting all those who have reserved figures.  It is likely that these very collectable figures will feature in Everything Dinosaur’s next customer newsletter.

Each Tyrannosaurus rex figure measures approximately 40 centimetres in length.  At the hips, the models measure a fraction under 13 centimetres in height.

Plain or Jungle Colour Variants

Collectors will have the opportunity to pick up two versions of this model.  Tyrannosaurus rex is known from Upper Cretaceous strata from the United States and Canada.  One fossilised footprint from Mexico, suggests that the “King of the Tyrant Lizards” lived in Mexico as well, but no body fossils have confirmed this assertion.

It has been suggested that T. rex was confined to more northern latitudes, even the most southerly portions of Laramidia could not be described as “jungle”, although the palaeoenvironment in the southern portion of Laramidia is regarded as sub-tropical.  T. rex would have been familiar with plains, although analysis of plant fossils indicates that the Hell Creek Formation (Maastrichtian faunal stage), deposits are representative of a riverine dominated system surrounded by forest.

A spokesperson from Everything Dinosaur stated:

“Congratulations to Rebor for making two more excellent Tyrannosaurus rex models.  The different colour variants provide dinosaur fans and collectors with the opportunity to get two different versions of the same model and we have received lots of emails from customers asking us to reserve figures for them.  As soon as the shipment arrives at our warehouse, we will get the cartons unpacked and checked over as quickly as possible, then it is simply a question of getting the stock on-line and contacting all those people on our priority reserve list.  The Rebor Killer Queen T. rex figures could be stock as early as tomorrow.”

It has recently been confirmed that Everything Dinosaur will be offering both “plain” and “jungle” as a set at a specially discounted price.

New Look for Everything Dinosaur Website

Regular visitors to Everything Dinosaur’s main website (Everything Dinosaur), will notice some subtle changes to the theme and the website’s framework.  Customers can still expect our award winning 5-star service, that has not changed, nor have we reduced the range of dinosaur and prehistoric themed products that we stock, however, our use of sliders and animation has been reduced to help maintain fast page load times when our site is viewed on mobiles and other devices.

Constantly Working to Improve our Customer’s On Site Experience

Team members at Everything Dinosaur are constantly working to improve and enhance the experience visitors and customers have when they visit our websites.  Making such improvements are part of a long-term and on-going programme of investment to help this UK-based company stay ahead of the curve when it comes to technical developments.  After all, with our knowledge of the Dinosauria, we don’t want Everything Dinosaur going extinct!

The changes we have made will have no bearing on how the site is viewed.  It will have no impact on the site pages, all the customer benefits are retained, the changes just permit those visitors using mobiles and other devices (not viewing the site from a personal computer), to have slightly quicker load times, for the pages that they wish to view or the landing pages that they are directed to.

The Front Page Will Still Inform Customers About New Products and New Models

Everything Dinosaur Website Functionality

The functionality of the website will not be affected by these changes.  The front page of our website will continue to inform visitors about new arrivals/new products and the Feefo ratings along with the chat live options will continue to be prominently displayed.  The “contact us” email link will still be accessible, but in the near future another, additional “contact us” link will be provided nearer the top of the page, just for customer convenience.

A spokesperson from the company commented on the Everything Dinosaur website improvements:

“These changes are part of an on-going process to reflect changes in technology and the preferences of customers.  We continue to monitor the performance of our various websites on a daily basis and to adjust them so that we can continue to meet the needs of our ever-growing and international customer base.  The first slides we have put up on Everything Dinosaur’s home page support our work with Eofauna Scientific Research and Kaiyodo.  These slides also give us the opportunity to promote our very popular dinosaur and fossil workshops in schools.  We now have greater flexibility in the sort of slides and other visuals that we can use to keep our website refreshed and up to date.”

A Programme of Further Investment

Just like when writing a scientific paper or report, the work done so far is part of a continuing process.  As with science, things move on and the Everything Dinosaur websites are constantly being reviewed and updated to meet the changing needs of the market place.

More Improvements to the Everything Dinosaur Website

Everything Dinosaur team members have set aside much of the time this week to schedule some adjustments and improvements to the company’s website.  Some minor changes are being made to the way in which pictures are being uploaded onto the site, these alterations are part of Everything Dinosaur’s on-going plans for continuous improvement and customers will not notice any difference in the operation of our various platforms.

As part of the changes, some of the visuals have been updated to include images of recently introduced or items that are being introduced in the very near future.

Continuous Improvement – Kaizen

The Everything Dinosaur website is being constantly examined and analysed in order to detect areas where improvements can be made.  Our aim is to build a culture of continuous improvement and these goals and aims are reflected in the way in which we try to maintain and develop our on-line presence.   All team members have a role to play in helping to develop continuous improvement.  Take for example, some of the visuals that we use to promote various categories and sub-categories of products.  These are updated and refreshed in order to reflect the latest additions to our product range.

Updating the Papo Sub-category Image

Updating Papo Images on the Everything Dinosaur Website

As part of our revision of the images we use on the website, the visual associated with the Papo website has been updated to include the recently introduced brown, running Tyrannosaurus rex figure.  The image also depicts the Papo Pentaceratops and the Gorgosaurus, both models are due to in stock later on this year (summer 2019).

A spokesperson from Everything Dinosaur commented:

“Updating the visuals is important for our customers, it helps them to see how a product range is changing.  We not only take care to include upcoming, new items but also we ensure that out of production items are removed from these visuals.  After all, we don’t want to confuse our visitors.”

Updating Wild Safari Prehistoric World Images to Improve Page Loading

In addition to the Papo category being adjusted, other model categories have been revamped too.  Take for example, the Wild Safari Prehistoric World range of prehistoric animal models and figures.  Virtually all of the new for 2019 models are already in stock at Everything Dinosaur, but plans are well advanced to receive the last of this year’s new models – the Wild Safari Prehistoric World Allosaurus.  As a result, the visual used to promote this sub-category has also been revised.  The new Allosaurus model has been added to this image.

The PNSO Age of Dinosaurs Ceratosaurus

This is a huge model, the box alone measures more than half a metre in length.  The model inside is enormous and it deserves top billing in our spring newsletter.  The figure is beautifully painted and depicts this Late Jurassic theropod in an aggressive pose with one foot raised off the ground.  The model is supplied with two supports to help it to be displayed.  It towers over other theropod dinosaur models.

Ophthalmosaurus Swims into View

The eagerly awaited PNSO Ophthalmosaurus has also arrived and it features in the newsletter too.  A number of academics, palaeontologists and other scientists have made enquiries about PNSO replicas.  The Ophthalmosaurus replica for example, will be used in science communications work.  As well as sending out the newsletter to our subscribers, team members were busy ensuring that all those customers who had requested one of these models was contacted.

A New Mamenchisaurus Plus the Return of Megalodon and Basilosaurus

PNSO have created a 1:35 scale model of Mamenchisaurus, an iconic sauropod from China that had the longest neck relative to its body of any known member of the Sauropoda.  Mamenchisaurus had nineteen cervical vertebrae and the neck of this twenty-one metre monster measured a whopping fourteen metres or so.  It features in the Everything Dinosaur newsletter alongside a returning favourite, the PNSO Megalodon shark model is back in stock.

It can’t really be an Everything Dinosaur newsletter without one mention of Tyrannosaurus rex.  The 1/35 th scale T. rex called “Wilson” is back in stock along with its counterpart, the magnificent Triceratops “Doyle” which has been modelled in the same scale.

Also just arrived at Everything Dinosaur, are the latest editions to the PNSO small prehistoric animal model range.  The set includes twenty-four, beautifully sculpted little prehistoric animal figures in the PNSO Toys that Accompany your Growth series.  In the image, that we created for our spring newsletter, only fourteen of the twenty-four models were depicted, but this is enough to give model collectors a good idea of the breadth and the quality of this exciting replica series.

The Unique Atopodentatus Gets Our Attention

By |2023-11-30T10:03:11+00:00March 26th, 2019|Categories: Dinosaur Fans, Everything Dinosaur News and Updates, Everything Dinosaur Products, Main Page, Photos of Everything Dinosaur Products|0 Comments

The Unique Atopodentatus unicus

As the new for 2019 PNSO figures arrive at Everything Dinosaur, we have time to reflect on one of the new models.  The replica of the bizarre Triassic marine reptile Atopodentatus (A. unicus).  Although Atopodentatus was named and scientifically described less than five years ago, this three-metre-long tetrapod has certainly attracted a great deal of debate.  Where it sits phylogenetically has yet to be resolved.  Tentatively, it could be placed within the Sauropterygia.  The Sauropterygia is an extremely diverse Superorder of reptiles.  It includes the placodonts, plesiosaurs, nothosaurs and the Pachypleurosauria.*

The New for 2019 PNSO Atopodentatus Model

Pachypleurosauria* – PNSO have also introduced a pachypleurosaur into their “Prehistoric Animal Toys That Accompany Your Growth” range, one of the twenty-four new models is “Ricky” the Keichousaurus.

Atopodentatus – At First it was a Filter Feeder

The fossil material associated with this genus comes from south-western China (Guanling Formation).  The strata are thought to be Middle Triassic in age (Anisian faunal stage) and these marine deposits have helped scientists to construct a picture of how life bounced back from the devastating End Permian extinction event.  When first described, Atopodentatus was thought to feed by stirring up mud on the seabed to filter out small invertebrates.  The rostrum was thought to be downturned, resulting in this reptile having a vertical, zipper-like jaw.

A Life Reconstruction of Atopodentatus unicus (2014)

To read Everything Dinosaur’s article about the original scientific description of Atopodentatus: Bizarre New Triassic Marine Reptile Described.

A Marine Reptile with a “Hammerhead”

Turns out, Atopodentatus did not have such a unique and highly specialised feeding adaptation after all, but it is nonetheless, quite remarkable.  Additional specimens led to a new interpretation of the shape of the skull and rather than having a downturned rostrum, Atopodentatus had a set of jaws shaped like a hammerhead.  It was proposed that Atopodentatus was herbivorous.   The teeth lining the hammerhead were used to scrape seaweed and algae from rocks.  The plant material was then sucked into the back of the mouth and filtered by the long, thin tooth mesh.

To read Everything Dinosaur’s 2016 article about the reinterpretation of Atopodentatus: Atopodentatus Unzipped.

Atopodentatus unicus

Atopodentatus unicus still had a highly specialised feeding adaptation, although one not quite a peculiar as previously thought.  It still represents the oldest record of herbivory within marine reptiles and its discovery has helped scientists to better understand how marine ecosystems recovered after the End Permian extinction event.

Remarking on the addition of an Atopodentatus to the PNSO model range, a spokesperson from Everything Dinosaur commented:

“As a Chinese company, PNSO have attempted to focus on prehistoric animals that lived in China.  This has resulted in a whole new and never before created set of prehistoric animal replicas such as Atopodentatus and Keichousaurus.  Thanks to PNSO, Everything Dinosaur customers now have an even greater variety of prehistoric animal models to collect.”

New CollectA 2019 Prehistoric Animal Models in Stock

The first of the new for 2019 prehistoric animal models from CollectA have arrived at Everything Dinosaur.   The armoured dinosaur Borealopelta, the pterosaur Caiuajara, the deluxe Carnotaurus and the Edaphosaurus models are now all in stock.  In addition, the set of mini prehistoric animal models has also arrived at our warehouse.

In Stock at Everything Dinosaur, the Box of Mini Prehistoric Animal Models

The CollectA Box of Mini Prehistoric Animals (2019)

The CollectA Box of Mini Prehistoric Animal Models

Joining the CollectA mini sets of prehistoric animals series is this new box of mini prehistoric animals, twelve miniature replicas of larger figures within the CollectA range.  The models in the box include Megacerops, Daeodon, Paraceratherium, Smilodon, Arsinoitherium, Uintatherium, Andrewsarchus, Moropus, Deinotherium and a Woolly Mammoth.  All these are mammals from the Cenozoic, but interestingly the box set features a replica of the giant prehistoric bird Kelenken and the bizarre therapsid Estemmenosuchus – “crowned crocodile”.  Estemmenosuchus lived during the Permian, many millions of years before the other creatures featured in the box set evolved.

Borealopelta and the Pterosaur Caiuajara

One of the first of the new models to be announced, back in early November, was the Borealopelta, a model of an armoured dinosaur that was formally named and described in 2017 (Brown et al).

One of the largest models introduced is that of the Brazilian pterosaur Caiuajara (C. dobruskii), it measures 23 centimetres long and that spectacular crest stands around 22 centimetres high.  It is a fantastic model of a flying reptile.  The Caiuajara model has an articulated lower jaw and it is great to see a replica of a pterosaur added to the CollectA model range.

The CollectA Edaphosaurus and Carnotaurus Figures

Dinosaur fans had been asking CollectA to produce a large, deluxe version of Carnotaurus to accompany their growing range of different types of theropod dinosaur included in the deluxe model range.  The CollectA Carnotaurus is spectacular and it has already attracted a number of positive comments on Everything Dinosaur’s Facebook page.  The Edaphosaurus figure has also been eagerly anticipated.  CollectA made a commitment some time ago to include more animals from the Palaeozoic in their model range.  The CollectA Edaphosaurus is the latest example of this policy.

JurassicCollectables Unboxing A Trio of T. rex Figures

By |2023-11-30T07:12:59+00:00March 16th, 2019|Categories: Dinosaur Fans, Everything Dinosaur News and Updates, Everything Dinosaur Products, Everything Dinosaur videos, Main Page, Photos of Everything Dinosaur Products|0 Comments

JurassicCollectables Unboxing A Trio of T. rex Figures

The talented team at JurassicCollectables got a surprise this week.  A large box was delivered to them, it came from us at Everything Dinosaur, but what did it contain?  The narrator could hardly contain his excitement as he carefully cut through the securing tape and examined the contents.  Inside, were all three of the rare, limited edition Kaiyodo Sofubi Toy Box T. rex dinosaur figures.  A trio of Tyrannosaurus rex models from Japan for JurassicCollectables to review.

An Unboxing Video (Kaiyodo Sofubi Toy Box T. rex Figures) from JurassicCollectables

Video credit: JurassicCollectables

What’s in the Box?

In this short video (it lasts just under three minutes), the narrator discovers all three of the Kaiyodo Sofubi Toy Box T. rex figures.  First out of the box is the yellow and black colour variant of this articulated dinosaur model series (SOFUBITOYBOX018A TYRANNOSAURUS REX).  The next dinosaur to feature is the “smoke green” colour variant from Kaiyodo (SOFUBITOYBOX018B TYRANNOSAURUS REX) and last but not least, the narrator reveals that the parcel also contained the beautiful “classic” colour variant which comes in its own presentation pack.

The narrator comments that he had to find a new place to shoot the video, as the box was so large, the three models are surprisingly big, they each measure around twenty-seven centimetres long.

All Three of the Kaiyodo Sofubi Toy Box T. rex Dinosaur Figures

The Kaiyodo Sofubi Toy Box T. rex figures.

Clever Articulation

All three models were made to highlight the capabilities of the design team at Kaiyodo, when it comes to constructing articulated prehistoric animal figures.  Each model has a total of ten points of articulation, as far as we at Everything Dinosaur know, this is the largest amount of articulation in any T. rex collectable figure which stands under thirty centimetres high.  The neck, the upper jaw, forelimbs and both ankles are articulated.  In addition, there are two points of articulation associated with the tail.

The Dinosaur Models can be placed in Different Poses

A History of Tyrannosaurus rex Poses in One Dinosaur Figure

The concept behind the design of these limited edition figures, is quite simple.  Kaiyodo wanted to produce a single dinosaur model that permitted the collector to place the T. rex in all its poses that have been proposed for how this dinosaur stood since it was formally named and scientifically described back in 1905.  This was quite a challenge, however, each model can be put into the traditional “kangaroo stance”, with the tail resting on the ground.  It can also be posed in numerous other configurations, representing more modern approaches to the stance of this hypercarnivore from the Late Cretaceous of North America.

Rare Dinosaur Models

When first produced, these three figures were part of a limited production run and all colour versions are now all out of production (we think).  These Japanese models are certainly very rare and not widely available.  The Kaiyodo Sofubi articulated Tyrannosaurus rex figures are for collectors, they are classified as “collectable prehistoric animal figures”, as such they have a 15 years and above age classification.  These are articulated dinosaur models that have an age rating!

New for 2019 CollectA Models Due to Arrive Next Week

Exciting news for dinosaur fans and model collectors, the first batch of the new for 2019 prehistoric animal models from CollectA are due to arrive at Everything Dinosaur next week.  Stocks of the Borealopelta, the Deluxe 1:40 scale Carnotaurus, the super-sized pterosaur figure – Caiuajara and the 1:20 scale Deluxe Edaphosaurus are all on their way.  In addition, the new for 2019 set of mini prehistoric animal models are also due to arrive at the same time.

The picture above shows the first four models coming into stock along with the mini prehistoric animal model set which will feature an additional twelve figures.  Back in November, when we were given the official go ahead to discuss the 2019 CollectA offering, Everything Dinosaur team members posted up the first pictures of these hand-painted models.  They were very well received.

A spokesperson from Everything Dinosaur commented:

” We are delighted to announce that the first new prehistoric animals from CollectA are going to be in stock very soon.  These quality models capture the essence of CollectA, they don’t just focus on dinosaurs, only two of the sixteen figures represent members of the Dinosauria [Carnotaurus and Borealopelta], we know how keen model collectors are to acquire animals from the Palaeozoic and Cenozoic Eras as well.”

Detailed Prehistoric Animal Models

Many manufacturers focus on just a handful of figures, but the CollectA range is huge with a wide variety of prehistoric animals (and plants) represented.  Over recent years the company has introduced several sets of mini-prehistoric animal figures.   Later on this month, Everything Dinosaur will be receiving stocks of the prehistoric animal model set, or as we at Everything Dinosaur like to call it “the synapsids plus one”.  All the figures are synapsids, with the exception of the mini Kelenken model, which as a bird comes from the archosaur lineage of diapsids.
