New for 2022 Rebor Tyrannosaurus rex figures in stock at Everything Dinosaur. The Rebor T. rex Kiss Mountain and the Rebor T. rex Tusk King T. rex Requiem figures have arrived at Everything Dinosaur’s warehouse. The “Kiss” figure has been given lips, whilst the “Tusk” replica has a more typical overbite as seen in earlier Rebor tyrannosaurs.

The Rebor T. rex Kiss Mountain Model

The Rebor T. rex Kiss Mountain model measures a little over 40 cm in length and that impressive head stands around 14 cm off the ground. Like its counterpart figure T. rex Tusk, this figure has a declared scale of 1:35.

Rebor T. rex Tusk King T. rex Requiem Model

The Rebor T. rex figure called Tusk (T. rex Tusk King T. rex Requiem) has a colouration superficially similar to the original Rebor King T. rex, which was the second tyrannosauroid model to be made by Rebor. It has an articulated jaw and moveable arms, but depicts this iconic tyrannosaur without lips. Tusk is the same size and scale as the Kiss figure.

Such is the stability of these excellent theropods, that they were able to be placed on the office carpet without the need of the clear, plastic support that is supplied with these figures.

Both models have been beautifully painted and show some stunning details. A spokesperson from Everything Dinosaur commented on the impressive lacrimal crests of these models, particularly the crimson-coloured crests of Tusk.

A Special Patagotitan Scale Drawing

By |2024-04-13T08:59:18+01:00September 18th, 2022|Dinosaur and Prehistoric Animal Drawings, Everything Dinosaur News and Updates, Everything Dinosaur Products, Main Page, Press Releases|0 Comments

Everything Dinosaur has commissioned a Patagotitan scale drawing as the company prepares for the arrive of a Patagotitan model from Safari Ltd. The Wild Safari Prehistoric World Patagotitan replica is due to arrive in stock at Everything Dinosaur in just a few days. This titanosaur figure is a new for 2022 Safari Ltd dinosaur model.

A Scale Drawing of the Huge Titanosaur Patagotitan mayorum

Patagotitan scale drawing.
A scale drawing of the giant titanosaur Patagotitan mayorum commissioned by Everything Dinosaur. This huge dinosaur was estimated to have measured around 35 metres when its fossil bones were initially examined. When Patagotitan was formally named and scientifically described its body size and weight was reduced slightly. However, a reconstructed, life-size skeleton was built measuring 37.2 metres in length. Picture credit: Everything Dinosaur.

Wild Safari Prehistoric World Patagotitan Model

Fortunately for Everything Dinosaur’s packing team, the Wild Safari Prehistoric World Patagotitan model is not a life-size replica. At more than thirty metres in length, this dinosaur could just about fit inside our warehouse, but it would be a tight squeeze.

The model is quite sizeable it measures a fraction over 38 cm in length, which if you consider the replica as a scale model, it would have a scale ratio of around 1:100.

Giant Dinosaur Fossils

Giant fossils of at least seven individual titanosaurs were discovered in southern Argentina in 2014. After an extensive study, this dinosaur was finally named in 2017. Perhaps one of the largest land animals to have ever lived, the binomial scientific name is Patagotitan mayorum. The name translates as “the Mayo family’s Patagonian titan”, as the fossils were found on the Mayo ranch in Patagonia.

New CollectA 1:40 Scale Triceratops Model in Stock

The new for 2022 CollectA Deluxe 1:40 scale Triceratops horridus dinosaur model is now in stock at Everything Dinosaur. This dinosaur scale model is based on the most complete T. horridus fossil specimen known to science. The fossils, excavated from Hell Creek Formation deposits in Montana (USA), are now part of a major, permanent dinosaur exhibition at Melbourne Museum (Victoria, Australia).

CollectA Deluxe 1:40 scale Triceratops horridus

The CollectA Deluxe 1:40 scale Triceratops horridus is the last of the new for 2022 figures to arrive at Everything Dinosaur and continues a recent trend to have new CollectA figures named after a specific species and not a genus.

Another new for 2022 figure, the pterosaur model Pteranodon sternbergi, which came into stock at Everything Dinosaur a few months ago, also represents a distinct species. This model was introduced in this format to distinguish it from the Pteranodon (P. longiceps) in 1:15 scale.

Accurately Depicting the Head and Neck of a Triceratops

The exhibit at Melbourne Museum is entitled “Triceratops: Fate of the Dinosaurs” and the Triceratops skeleton upon which this exhibition is based has been appropriately nicknamed “Horridus”. The design team at CollectA were able to use the fossilised skull of this dinosaur to help them accurately depict the head and the neck shield of this iconic ceratopsian.

The skull and neck frill of “Horridus” are the most complete of any known Triceratops specimen (more than 99% complete) and the assembled frill measures nearly 1.5 metres wide.

An Articulated Lower Jaw

A spokesperson from Everything Dinosaur confirmed that this new CollectA figure had an articulated lower jaw. The jaw can be a little stiff and it does not open very wide. To ease the jaw, the head can be dipped into hot water for 2-3 seconds to help ease the movement of this articulated component of the model.

The spokesperson from Everything Dinosaur added:

“The Triceratops horridus figure was one of the dinosaurs designed by the late Anthony Beeson. Anthony had explained to Everything Dinosaur how keen he was to create an updated Triceratops, a figure with skin texture reminiscent of recent fossil discoveries. He was very excited at the possibility of combining the evidence, on T. horridus skin texture, some of which remains unpublished, with the new anatomical details revealed by the Melbourne Museum specimen.”

The New PNSO Fergus the Acrocanthosaurus Model

This year, (2022) PNSO added a replica of the Early Cretaceous theropod dinosaur Acrocanthosaurus to their popular mid-size model range. Say hello, to PNSO Fergus the Acrocanthosaurus. It is a wonderful replica of a member of the Carcharodontosauridae known from the United States of America.

A Detailed Dinosaur Model

The figure has been beautifully painted, and it has an articulated lower jaw and a clear, plastic support stand to assist with display. The figure measures over 32 centimetres long, and those skilfully recreated lacrimal crests are some 10.5 cm off the ground. It is a stunning replica of a super-sized predator.

Sci-Art Poster and Colour Booklet

The figure has been so well made that it can stand on a solid, flat surface without the need of the clear, plastic display stand that comes with the dinosaur model. Fergus the Acrocanthosaurus is also supplied with a sci-art poster and a 64-page, fully illustrated colour booklet.

A spokesperson from Everything Dinosaur commented:

“We are delighted that PNSO have added a replica of an Acrocanthosaurus to their mid-size model range. As far as we at Everything Dinosaur are aware, Acrocanthosaurus atokensis is the only member of the Carcharodontosauridae known from the United States. A theropod named and described in 2012 known as Siats meekerorum might be a member of the related family the Neovenatoridae, which along with the Carcharodontosauridae make up the Carcharodontosauria clade, but the taxonomic position of Siats remains uncertain. However, Acrocanthosaurus was an apex predator, and it deserves to be included in the exciting PNSO model range.”

Originally introduced into the Papo “Les Dinosaures” range back in 2011, this popular horned dinosaur figure is being replaced by a green colour variant. A spokesperson from Everything Dinosaur stated that as model collectors themselves, they can understand how customers feel if a model is retired and out of production before they have had the chance to add it to their collection.

The spokesperson explained:

“We have worked tirelessly to source a limited number of these rare red Styracosaurus figures. We have done this to help and support our customers. We have also ensured that although this figure is rare, we have not put it on-line at a ridiculous price, we know how other platforms rapidly raise their prices once they realise a model is out of production.”

Papo Product Packaging

The Papo red Styracosaurus figure will be supplied by Everything Dinosaur in a clear, re-sealable plastic bag. This is different from the normal Papo packaging and reflects the fact that only a few of these replicas were at the factory. Each model is contained in its own re-sealable and therefore re-useable plastic packaging.

An Important Update About Royal Mail Industrial Action

By |2024-05-12T07:27:37+01:00August 26th, 2022|Everything Dinosaur News and Updates, Main Page, Press Releases|0 Comments

Today, is the first day of industrial action by the Communication Workers Union (CWU) which will have an impact on the postal services of Royal Mail. Everything Dinosaur team members have put in place measures to protect customers and to minimise the disruption to parcel collection and deliveries.

However, despite our best efforts, there will be delays to UK deliveries and as overseas parcels handled by Royal Mail will also be affected, our customers outside the UK will also face delays in receiving their parcels.

Royal Mail Logo 2022
Everything Dinosaur team members have taken steps to help minimise disruption for customers, but due to industrial action UK and overseas deliveries of parcels will be subject to delays. Picture credit: Everything Dinosaur.

Four Days of Industrial Action Planned

The CWU has called on its members who collect, sort and deliver parcels and letters to take strike action. Four days of industrial action have been announced, starting with today (26th August). Further strike action is planned for Wednesday 31st August, with two further strikes scheduled for September (8th and 9th of September).

Royal Mail has released the following statement:

“We’re really sorry for the disruption that this strike action is likely to cause to you. We want to reassure you we will do everything we can to minimise disruption and get our services back to normal as quickly as possible. Royal Mail has well-developed contingency plans, but they cannot fully replace the daily efforts of its frontline workforce. We will be doing what we can to keep services running, but customers should expect significant disruption.”

A spokesperson from Everything Dinosaur confirmed that the UK-based mail order company was not expecting any collections by Royal Mail today. Parcels would still be packed and prepared for collection, but with the Bank Holiday Monday, the earliest deliveries could be sent out would be Tuesday 30th August.

Staff would be working over the weekend and during the Bank Holiday to ensure that as many parcels as possible could be sent out on Tuesday 30th August.

It is hoped that some collection services would be able to take place as Royal Mail management adjusts to the industrial action, but delays to parcel deliveries were inevitable.

Royal Mail has issued advice to its customers stating that it was sensible to “post items as early as possible in advance of the strike dates”. This would help to minimise the disruption.

An Important Development – Felixstowe Port Strikes Could Affect Christmas Retail

By |2024-05-12T07:28:20+01:00August 25th, 2022|Adobe CS5, Everything Dinosaur News and Updates, Everything Dinosaur Products, Main Page, Press Releases|0 Comments

Industrial action at the Port of Felixstowe could have an impact on the availability of goods, including Everything Dinosaur’s range of prehistoric animal models and figures in the crucial sales period leading up to Christmas.

Recently, staff at Felixstowe Port, one of the busiest ports in Europe, started industrial action in a dispute over pay. If the dispute is not resolved and further strike action follows, this could have an impact on the range of items available and inventory in the vital retail period – quarter 4.

The Port of Felixstowe in Suffolk
The Port of Felixstowe manages more than 4 million TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units) per year, including prehistoric animal models and figures destined for Everything Dinosaur’s UK warehouse. Picture credit: Port of Felixstowe.

The Port of Felixstowe

The Port of Felixstowe is the UK’s biggest and busiest container port, and one of the largest in Europe. It handles over 4 million TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units) per year, around 2,000 container ships, including some of the biggest vessels afloat, unload at Felixstowe each year. The port is a vital component of Britain’s commercial infrastructure. If industrial action continues into the autumn, then this could cause significant disruption to already stretched supply chains in the lead up to Christmas.

All sorts of sectors of the UK economy could be affected including legal importers of prehistoric animal models and figures such as Everything Dinosaur.

A spokesperson from the UK-based company commented:

“We continue to monitor the situation and we are working closely with our freight forwarding contacts to mitigate the impact of any disruption to supplies and minimise any inconvenience for our customers.”

Some of the prehistoric animal figures stocked by Everything Dinosaur.

Shop Early for Christmas

Whilst alternative ports are a possibility, continued and prolonged industrial action at Felixstowe could have a knock-on effect for the UK supply chain and result in a shortage of products available in shops. Commentators have advised that customers shop early for Christmas as one way of minimising the potential impact of these strikes.

The spokesperson from Everything Dinosaur explained that as the company had their own warehouse, they had been able to build up considerable stock of prehistoric animal models and figures as well as dinosaur toys. It was stressed that deliveries to the warehouse were still taking place.

Shipping containers at the Port of Felixstowe (UK)

Amongst the huge volumes of goods handled by the Port, there are shipping containers with dinosaur and prehistoric animal models shipped into the UK by Everything Dinosaur. The Everything Dinosaur spokesperson added:

“We do have shipments arriving at Felixstowe and there are shipments already scheduled and further ones being planned. We have been able to build up our inventory and we currently have thousands of items in stock which should provide some reassurance to our customers.”

A Beautiful Dragonfly is Spotted

By |2024-04-19T06:19:30+01:00August 22nd, 2022|Adobe CS5, Animal News Stories, Everything Dinosaur News and Updates, Main Page, Photos|0 Comments

A dragonfly has been spotted by Everything Dinosaur team members on a small patch of grass next to a drainage ditch outside the company’s warehouse. This is the first time that a dragonfly has been seen in the vicinity of the Everything Dinosaur warehouse. There is a small area of grass next to a drainage ditch and we suspect the dragonfly, possibly a male Common darter (Sympetrum striolatum) emerged from the ditch during the recent hot weather. Our litter picking and tidying up of this small body of water outside our warehouse is paying dividends.

Dragonfly spotted in grassland.
Can you spot the dragonfly? Picture credit: Everything Dinosaur.

A Haven for Wildlife

The ditch is a haven for wildlife, and we have spotted several different species of water snails including the Great Pond Snail (Lymnaea stagnalis) and the Great Ramshorn (Planorbarius corneus). There are also small fish – we suspect Stickleback (Gasterosteidae family). There may also be frogs and newts, although we have not observed any amphibians to date, although we were visited by a young Mallard duck a few weeks ago.

Photographing the dragonfly was tricky, we could not get that close to our subject, but we tried our best.

A view of the dragonfly spotted in the grassland
A close-up view of the dragonfly. We think this might be an immature male Common darter (Sympetrum striolatum). Picture credit: Everything Dinosaur.

A spokesperson from Everything Dinosaur commented that it was always exciting to see a dragonfly. Due to loss of habitat and pollution, these magnificent insects are under threat in many parts of the UK. The earliest dragonfly fossils are known from the Carboniferous. Some of these Carboniferous forms (Meganisoptera order) were huge with wingspans in excess of sixty centimetres. Extant dragonflies (Odonata) are distantly related to these ancient, winged insects, the Odonata lineage may have evolved in the Late Permian.

A view of the dragonfly by an Everything Dinosaur team member.

Spotting Dragonflies

The office pond has also produced dragonflies, although no Common darters. As the mature nymphs emerge from the pond, they climb up plant stems and prepare to shed their external skeletons and emerge as winged adults (Ecdysis).

Team members have already spotted several exuviae (shed exoskeletons) around the pond.

Let’s hope we see a few more dragonflies before the end of summer.
