Safari Ltd – New Prehistoric Animal Models for 2015
Safari Ltd have provided Everything Dinosaur with information in regards to this company’s new prehistoric animal models scheduled for release in 2015. As with the trend in recent years, the number of Wild Safari Dinos introductions outnumbers those in the Carnegie Collectibles, scale model range. One new addition is being added to the Carnegie Collectibles series, a model of a feathered Velociraptor.
Feathered Velociraptor from Safari Ltd
Estimated to be in approximately 1:50 scale the Velociraptor model measures a little over 19 cm in length and the model is a fraction under 8 cm tall.
New Dinosaur Models
The other prehistoric animal models that are due out next year are all part of the not-to-scale Wild Safari Dinos model range. The introductions consist of a feathered Yutyrannus, the horned dinosaur Nasutoceratops, an Archaeopteryx figure and a model of the armoured dinosaur known as Sauropelta.
The Feathered Yutyrannus Dinosaur Model
The Yutyrannus model measures 20 cm long and is about the same height as the Velociraptor figure discussed earlier, just under 8 cm tall.

The Wild Safari Dinos Nasutoceratops
A beautifully crafted figure that keeps up the company’s proud tradition of introducing at least one horned dinosaur model each year. The Nasutoceratops measures 17 cm in length and stands 6 cm high. Archaeopteryx Model
Next, we have a replica of Archaeopteryx, a replica painted to reflect some of the latest scientific thinking about “ancient wing” or Urvogel, as the Germans like to call it. The model is quite large, it is just under 10 cm high and the wing span is around 10 cm too. What a fantastic model it is.

Last but not least, is the wonderful replica of Sauropelta. At Everything Dinosaur we just love our armoured dinosaurs and we look forward to receiving this model into our range early in 2015.
Armoured Sauropelta from Safari Ltd
At Everything Dinosaur, we supply Safari Ltd models with our own prehistoric animal themed information sheet. Scale drawings have already been commissioned for all these models, just to whet your appetites, here is the finished drawing of the basal tyrannosaurid Yutyrannus.

Lovely models. “A” for modeling, “F” for math. At 19cm long, a model of a 2m v-raptor is not quite at 1/10 scale.
Cheers.
We have been trying to chase up a note on the information we compiled over the Velociraptor figure, it is 1:50 scale as we state here, it may have been incorrectly posted up on our Facebook page but we thought we had checked and corrected any unintentional error. Thanks for the “heads up” anyway.
So Mike,
You are releasing a model that is 3.58 cm in length if what you say is true. I highly doubt Safari would release such a minuscule figure in its line. Velociraptor was 2 meters Lon in life, despite whatever you may believe watching the JP movies.
The model itself measures a little over 19cm in length and the head is a fraction under 8cm off the ground. The official release from Safari Ltd states 1:50 scale, we are only repeating what the manufacturer has told us. In reality our dinosaur experts working on V. mongoliensis as template estimate a scale of 1:10 or 1:12 or thereabouts.
All of these models are stunning introductions,This may be very well Safari Ltd.’s best year regarding to dinosaurs in many time. There isn’t much negative feedback-only that the Velociraptor should have primaries on its arms. But otherwise,a fantastic model-easily the best Velociraptor in the figure market, which can’t be compared with the old, scaly and retro Papo Velociraptor. My only hope is that the actual figure will look just like the prototype.People have recently complained about the Carnegie Concavenator and Tyrannosaurus having ‘sloppy’ paintjobs.I’m on the positive side though.I (and surely more people) would like to see there wasn’t just one introduction per year in the Carnegie range. Some years back, there were 2 introductions in the Carnegie line a year,Now one.Hope teh releases in the Carnegie line and the Wild Safari line get more equalised.
Carnegie aside,I must say the new Yutyrannus is a real gem,one of those magic figures that when you see ir for the first time you’re really shocked by it.The Nasutoceratops may be Wild Safari’s best ceratopsian figure,in my opinion.Hope they continue with this trend. The Archaeopteryx is fantastic too,as well as the Sauropelta. This just shows feathered dinosaurs are becoming more popular, and I hope more companies release more feathered dinosaurs in the future.Feathered dinosaurs are the dinosaurs we collectors most fancy having.
I bet CollectA will release their new releases in November,I have really high expectations for this brand, because with the introduction of the Carcharodontosaurus model, they’ve shown us they can bring on the best dinosaur figures if they struggle. My only suggestion for Papo is a feathered theropod, don’t really care what they do,but, say,a feathered Therizinosaurus for Papo would be awesome,if accurate.Thank you for posting this information and for having the time of reading.Bye!
That yutyrannus model I will really get it for 2015
Glad you like the new Yutyrannus model, Everything Dinosaur expects to have these in stock early in 2015.
