Highlighting Prehistoric Animal Models

Highlighting dinosaurs and other prehistoric animal models in a slideshow is helpful for the audience. It showcases unique features and details that attract interest. In addition, the audience can be informed about new figures being added to ranges. For example, the Beasts of the Mesozoic slide highlighted five new additions to this range, including the albino Zuniceratops figure.

The slides were quite easy to create.  Visual presentations engage attendees and spark discussions. They help collectors appreciate the diversity of models and their significance.

A spokesperson from Everything Dinosaur commented.

“We appreciate that this was the last ever TetZooCon.  However, the event organisers have exciting plans for next year.  We have been delighted to be able to support this excellent convention.  We are looking forward to revealing more information about the 2025 event, it’s going to be special.”

New PNSO Dinosaur Models Slides for TetZooCon 2024

By |2024-10-01T08:03:05+01:00September 29th, 2024|Everything Dinosaur News and Updates|0 Comments

Everything Dinosaur is supporting the amazing TetZooCon event once again this year.  The company is a sponsor of this fantastic event, now in its eleventh year.  TetZooCon is an annual meeting centred around the world-famous blog Tetrapod Zoology.  There will be presentations, book signings, art demonstrations, discussion panels, workshops and talks from leading exponents in their field.  This event gives us the opportunity to highlight some of the prehistoric animal models that we stock.  For example, the slideshow we have compiled will include PNSO dinosaur models.

PNSO Dinosaur Models Including Megalosaurus bucklandii

This year, 2024, marks the 200th anniversary of the first, formal scientific description of a dinosaur.  Megalosaurus bucklandii was described in 1824 (Buckland). Megalosaurus was a large, bipedal predator that could reach lengths of up to nine metres. Characterised by its robust body, sharp teeth, and powerful limbs, Megalosaurus was likely an apex predator in its ecosystem. Its scientific description in 1824 played a pivotal role in the early understanding of dinosaurs, marking the beginning of palaeontology as a scientific discipline.

It seemed fitting that we should include a slide featuring the PNSO Megalosaurus model in our presentation.

The Importance of Being Authentic – The Power of Being Yourselves

By |2024-09-12T12:47:36+01:00September 11th, 2024|Everything Dinosaur News and Updates|0 Comments

With on-line sales, customers can feel removed from the sellers. In this fast-paced digital world, placing an order on a website is extremely convenient, but do you know the people behind the dotcom address? At Everything Dinosaur, we believe in being open and honest with our customers. We have always encouraged dialogue, and our customers have got to know us (Sue and Mike).

For us, it’s about being authentic and true to ourselves.  Authenticity is essential in the on-line world. When a person allows their true self to shine through, they create a genuine connection with customers.  Recently, we were asked to make a video about some training that had been undertaken.  We were happy to oblige.  However, inevitably we made some mistakes during the filming process.  Rather than banish these errors to the editing suite dump bin forever, Sue and I thought we would share them with you.

We will post up on our blog and our social media platforms a bloopers reel!

Sue and Mike from Everything Dinosaur.

Sue and Mike from Everything Dinosaur will feature in a short bloopers reel on their social media pages. The video will highlight some of the outtakes from a recent video shoot. Picture credit: Everything Dinosaur.

Authentic Everything Dinosaur

People appreciate transparency and are drawn to relatable personalities. Sharing moments of imperfection, like bloopers from filming, showcases your human side and makes your brand more approachable.  Being yourself fosters loyalty and trust.  Customers like to feel they are dealing with real people, rather than a faceless business entity.  Building connections leads to stronger relationships with customers.

To read our earlier blog post about the training and to see the video discussing the training courses: Everything Dinosaur Customer Service and Training.

Additionally, showcasing humour and authenticity can differentiate the company’s brand in a crowded marketplace.

Our bloopers reel will be posted up on Friday (13th September), we are not superstitious, we have no worries about posting on this date.

So, when you embrace your quirks and share those light-hearted moments, you not only entertain but also strengthen your business identity.

Remember, it’s the genuine connections that often turn customers into lifelong supporters.

Look out for our bloopers reel this Friday!

Everything Dinosaur’s Customer Service is Important for the Company’s Ongoing Success

By |2024-09-10T10:14:09+01:00September 9th, 2024|Everything Dinosaur News and Updates|0 Comments

It has been a busy year for Everything Dinosaur.  There are always lots of jobs to do.  We appreciate that the business world is changing and new technologies such as artificial intelligence are having an increasing influence on commerce.  However, we believe that people do business with people and whilst AI can be extremely helpful, we strive to maintain that personal touch.  Interacting with our customers is very important to us, we pride ourselves on Everything Dinosaur’s customer service.  We try to put customers at the heart of our business.

To this end, Mike has been participating in a training programme.  The aim of the programme is to help businesses get to grips with dynamic and changing technologies.  Having participated, we were approached by the training organisers – Digital Cheshire to make a video providing our feedback on the course.  We are always happy to help support other organisations.

Everything Dinosaur’s Customer Service

In this short Digital Cheshire video (it last just under six minutes), we talk about our business and how the training has helped us.  Exceptional customer service builds loyalty and encourages repeat business. In addition, satisfied customers share their positive experiences, attracting new clients and enhancing the brand’s reputation. For example, we have received thousands of customer reviews, and the company has won numerous customer service awards.

Platinum Trusted Service Award 2024

Everything Dinosaur has won the Feefo Platinum Trusted Service Award for 2024.

Mike from Everything Dinosaur commented:

“Every day is a school day!  There is always something new to learn and the business has benefited from the training offered by Digital Cheshire.  Everything Dinosaur’s customer service is exceptionally important to our success.  Looking after our customers is a core part of who we are.  Thankfully, we have been able to learn more about new technologies such as Artificial Intelligence.  We are grateful that we have been able to participate in the training programme.”

There are some outtakes from the video, a sort of bloopers reel.  We don’t always get everything right on the first take!  We will endeavour to get this other video onto our blog as well.

A New Carnotaurus Scale Drawing

By |2024-09-02T15:47:16+01:00August 31st, 2024|Everything Dinosaur News and Updates|0 Comments

Everything Dinosaur team members have commissioned a new Carnotaurus scale drawing. It is to be incorporated into the company’s updated Carnotaurus fact sheet.  This fact sheet will be sent out free of charge with Carnotaurus model purchases.  Several companies have included C. sastrei in their model ranges. For example, Safari Ltd, Papo, PNSO and Nanmu Studio have made models of this theropod.  Furthermore, Rebor recently announced the addition of a new Carnotaurus figure to their range.  This new Rebor figure is called “Carnotaurus rex”!

The Carnotaurus Scale Drawing

The genus name translates as “meat-eating bull”. This is a reference to the two prominent horns located on the top of the skull. Carnotaurus was scientifically described in 1985, by the famous Argentinian palaeontologist José Bonaparte. It is known from a single, well-preserved fossil skeleton (MACN-CH 894).

The strata associated with the fossils were once thought to represent late Campanian deposits. However, subsequent studies have proposed that the rocks are younger (Maastrichtian faunal stage of the Late Cretaceous).

The Everything Dinosaur Carnotaurus fact sheet has been amended and the new scale drawing will be used to illustrate the approximate size of this theropod dinosaur.  A spokesperson from Everything Dinosaur confirmed that these changes had been made in preparation for the arrival of the new Rebor Carnotaurus figure.

Ironically, the illustration used for the fact sheet is not based on the new Rebor model.  It was the CollectA Deluxe 1:40 scale Carnotaurus that provided the inspiration.

Dinosaurs of the La Colonia Formation

Whilst numerous dinosaur fossils are associated with the La Colonia Formation, only a few taxa have been erected. Carnotaurus was the first dinosaur genus to be named from fossils from this formation. Intriguingly, another genus of abelisaurid was recently described (Koleken inakayali). Koleken was formally described in 2024. It is known from a partial skeleton that probably represents a sub-adult. It is thought to have been smaller than Carnotaurus sastrei.

To read an article about K. inakayaliA New Abelisaurid from Argentina.

Ornithischians such as hadrosauroid and armoured dinosaur remains are associated with this formation. Sauropods are known too. However, only one plant-eating dinosaur taxon has been established. Earlier this year (2024), scientists (Moreno et al) erected Titanomachya gimenezi. It is known from fragmentary remains and Titanomachya has been described as being a small-bodied saltasauroid. Perhaps Carnotaurus hunted this titanosaur, although the feeding habits of Carnotaurus are disputed.

The newly described titanosaur: Titanomachya: A New Titanosaur from Patagonia.

A spokesperson from Everything Dinosaur confirmed that the new Rebor Carnotaurus figure would be in stock in the late autumn.

Supporting Women in Business One Dinosaur Model at a Time

By |2024-08-22T10:07:45+01:00August 19th, 2024|Everything Dinosaur News and Updates|0 Comments

Co-owner of Everything Dinosaur Sue, is keen to champion the role of women in business. Recently, we hosted a young student on work experience. She helped with the picking and packing of orders. In addition, she worked on some social media posts and videos. This week, Sue met up with South Cheshire Chamber of Commerce Team members Jane Booth and Courtney Dodd. The Chamber team members wanted to learn more about the company’s international sales.

For Jane, the Export Document Administrator and Courtney Dodd (Business Administrator) at the Chamber it was an opportunity to see first-hand how Chamber membership had benefitted the business and assisted in the development of sales overseas.

Sue commented that she welcomed the continuing dialogue with the Chamber and outlined how these meetings enabled Chamber personnel to gain a better understanding of the experiences and challenges faced by women in business.

Empowering Women in Business

The visit also highlighted the importance of empowering women in business. As Sue admits, the business of selling dinosaurs is essentially a male-dominated industry. However, her success in this niche market might help to inspire other female entrepreneurs.

Sue thanked Jane and Courtney for their input.  She explained that Everything Dinosaur was proud to support the Chamber’s initiatives to foster the growth and success of women-owned businesses.

New Diprotodon Scale Drawing

By |2024-08-12T15:44:36+01:00August 6th, 2024|Everything Dinosaur News and Updates|0 Comments

Team members at Everything Dinosaur have produced a Diprotodon scale drawing.  The scale drawing has been prepared for a fact sheet on the largest marsupial known to science.  The fact sheet will be sent out with sales of the new CollectA Deluxe Diprotodon figure.

The CollectA Deluxe Diprotodon Model

The CollectA Deluxe Diprotodon model is due to arrive later this week.  Collectors have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of this male Diprotodon figure.  The model measures a fraction under twenty-one centimetres in length.  It is around twelve centimetres tall, and it has a declared scale of 1:20.

To view the CollectA Deluxe range of prehistoric animal figures: CollectA Deluxe Prehistoric Animal Models.

CollectA Deluxe 1:20 scale Diprotodon.

The CollectA Deluxe 1:20 scale Diprotodon model.

The CollectA figure probably represents the type species Diprotodon optatum which was the first Australian fossil mammal to be scientifically described and named (Owen 1838).

Numerous species have been erected, essentially due to the great size differences observed in fossil specimens of adults.  In addition, Diprotodon was the most widespread of the Australian megafauna.  Fossils remains have been found all over Australia and this led to the assumption (probably incorrect), that several different species evolved.  Unlike its probable closest living relative the wombat, Diprotodon was sexually dimorphic.  Males were considerably bigger than females.  It had been assumed that the different sized adult fossils represented separate species.  However, it is now thought that the largest specimens represent male Diprotodon optatum.

Did Diprotodon Live in Extensive Herds or Small Family Groups?

Large numbers of Diprotodon fossils have been found in sediments representing lakebeds and river deposits. At one time, Diprotodon was thought to have been aquatic. However, the fossil accumulations probably represent groups that died together during a severe drought or were drowned when trying to cross a swollen river.

Diprotodon is thought to be the only marsupial that seasonally migrated. These animals probably had to roam extensively in order to find enough food. There is some fossil evidence to indicate that these animals moved around in large herds. These large herds mostly consisted of females. This suggests that Diprotodon was a polygynous species. That is, a male controlled a harem of females. Juvenile males moved around in bachelor groups.

The jaws are extremely powerful. It has been suggested that the males engaged in intraspecific combat, perhaps fighting over mates or social status. The incisors were probably used to deliver deep bites onto the face and body of the opponent.

The CollectA Deluxe Diprotodon figure will be in stock at Everything Dinosaur.

Naming the PNSO Figures on the New Image

By |2024-07-16T13:53:46+01:00August 5th, 2024|Everything Dinosaur News and Updates|0 Comments

A few days ago, team members created a new image of PNSO figures for use on the Everything Dinosaur website.  This new image was to be used on the homepage as part of a revolving slide presentation.  The presentation would help to highlight the extensive range of dinosaur and prehistoric animal figures stocked by the company.  In addition, link buttons on the images could signpost visitors to specific model ranges and categories.

The new PNSO picture featured seven prehistoric animal models.  In an earlier post, we set a challenge, could you name all the figures?

Naming the PNSO Figures

We are often impressed by the product knowledge of collectors.  When Everything Dinosaur pose questions about dinosaur models, we always get lots of correct answers.  We were most impressed by the PNSO product knowledge demonstrated.

However, for the record here is the information about the PNSO figures included in the image.
